Chapter 319: All Road Leads To A Minimum Wage Job

Have you ever heard of the old sponsor cliche in most stories? An old relic yearning to step back to his heyday, but found they’re not hotshit anymore? Yeah, those overpowered grandpas and grannies that likes to aura farm whenever they enter the scene. For the Main characters, these people will be a mentor or some sort of investor to nurture their talent. However, to anyone except the Main characters, their demons who like to manipulate the weak to reach their end goal.

[How in the world did you agree to this horrendous contract? Curses, never have I thought it’ll come true. That my first avatar will be retarde-]

"Whoa! Don’t finish that sentence, Sage, we don’t wanna get cancelled. Wait a minute, I forgot I’m not on earth," The late corpse of the once chosen Avatar of the mysterious deity rose from the dead and his injuries vanished, leaving him alive and well.

"You still haven’t cleared it yet? And to think you have the balls to raise your wage, ask for supplies and support of my side. Yet you can’t even clear the means to approve your request," Agni steps in the vast emptiness of his very own limited space where everything acts on his will, including Morris’s exam.

"Good morning Agni, you really gave me one heck of an aptitude exam. My death finally reached double digits. Isn’t this too cruel?" Morris replied in a mellow tone, soft, respectful, and indifferent with how much he died in the span of an hour.

"So you want this super cool gal hotshot to be in your team? Alrighty, I’ve seen the contract. The pay is good so I’m all aboard," She cheeringly said whereas Morris’s expression tells of a different tale of his grueling effort to make her agree.

[She wasn’t that willingly a while ago...]

’I know... To think of all the things that made her get ticked off, it wasn’t about getting a job, at a run of the mill shop. She was worried her shift is gonna take all the time she’ll use to train, luckily I hook her still with the mention of food being included with the job. Seriously I blame my old bitch of a self that she doesn’t feel like a real heroine cuz I don’t know how girls act. So I just made her a tomboy, and a badass one at that,’

[What do you mean made her?]

’Oh don’t mind me, I’m just saying gibberish considering how tired I am... but I still have a few side quest before I end this day. I think it’s time to ask for a raise,’

[Are you insane? You just got hired and the first thing that comes to your mind is a buno to your salary?] 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

’Shush! You won’t understand why I need the money, okay. Plus I’m pretty sure he’ll agree with my request,’

As Morris strode to Agni’s office and demanded his raise, he was met with reality, harsh, and realistic. "Absolutely not. You think I can spend money investing not just you... but the three of you. I can understand the girl. I can tell she’s talented but that frea-"

"Let’s not go there. I’m an American citizen, I’m the one who should be spouting any racial remarks. Second of all it’ll be worth your while. Don’t you trust me?" As Morris said those words, Agni rubbed his noggin for how utterly dumbfounded he was.

Agni paused to think for a while, before he gathered his thoughts and replied. "Let’s do it this way, how about you take an aptitude exam? Past it with flying colors and you got a deal. Fail, and you die. I’ve been too soft on ya, but now I’m suspecting that you’re in cahoots with my enemies l,"

"Your enemies?" Morris tried to act unknowing but Agni saw through his ignorance yet paid it no mind

[This is getting tiresome. Call me when things get interesting. I’ll be heading out]

[System: The Forgotten Sage has log off]

’Perfect!!!’

"Nevermind... there’s no way an outsider like you would ever get in touch with those bastards. Their busy finding my master," Agni uttered as his tense and suffocating aura vanishes.

’Yup, it wouldn’t be weird considering that Agni is currently hiding in the starter city since he’s being hunted down. He’s a Ranker in the world of trials, even if he’s all alone he could just wipe out thousands without breaking a sweat. But the only problem is that his master suddenly went missing, and his master’s enemys joined forces to kill him. Right now he’s gathering his wealth, living a another life, and waiting to strike back, and find his master, even I don’t know a rats ass where that person is,’

Morris suddenly smiled and said. "Agni, do you believe in prophets? I’m one of the few that knows the future. Everything that I did led us to where we are now. So your suspicions of me we’re justifiable, but I’m not a spy, I just know the future,"

"So you think you can clear my test? Being a prophet isn’t easy. Just changing a few things and it’ll change everything. So what makes you certain you’ll win against my exam?" Morris’s sudden reveal made him furious yet he kept his anger at bay, even after realizing that the person before him, approached him with a motive of his own

’Naze, Agni’s master is a powerful avatar... I was going to make a whole story line revolving his master and his addition to the story but I suddenly axed the idea when I was rushing to meet the deadline. All in all revealing my knowledge of the future may make him willing to view me as a partner rather than his worker,’

"Well if you want your raise so badly then let’s get started, shall we?"

Agni’s office suddenly grew vast in size and all the furniture and decorations ceased to exist, in this limited space. Morris was stunned even after he already foresaw what’s to come, as the character he created activated his given authority. The authority of creating his personal limited space where everything acts on his will, and suddenly, Christopher Morris found himself in the start of a maze

’Its a good thing I memorize the right lines that my main character said to gain Agni’s trust, and to advance to this aptitude exam. He won’t even be meeting Agni only after the start of volume 2, and since this storyline is axed and didn’t even make it to the story, I’ll just use it for myself. The trial, it’s exactly the same as the one that I wrote, it’s structure, challenge, and even lethality down to the minute detail,’

[System: You’re currently trapped in a separate space from the World of Trials! Clear the mission requirement to escape.

Mission: Save the princess 0/1]

Before him stands a towering castle and to reach that place stood countless of monsters, traps and wreckage fixated in slaughtering him.

"This is gonna be a piece of cake-" As he was about to take his first step, his head crumbled as a spear pierce through his squishy noggin

[System: You have received a fatal injury! You have died!!!

Status: Due to the authority of the limited space owner, your death has become null. Your injuries became null. Your energy is replenished]

’The only reason why I did all of this is that my life is guaranteed. Since he made this a test, it’s only a simulation at the end. But a lifelike simulation where you can feel pain, fatigue, or even die.’
