Chapter 204: Chapter 193 Three Houses
Chapter 204 -193 Three Houses
After calling the Lu family members, Lu Jiaxin gave He Bin a call, “Mr. He, I was right there when my aunt called you earlier. Mr. He, I have a favor to ask of you.”
He Bin replied politely, “Miss Cousin, there’s no trouble at all, just let me know what you need, there’s no need to be so formal.”
Lu Jiaxin wanted to ask He Bin to register both apartments under Guh Haifan’s name, “I can earn my own money, I don’t need my aunt to buy me an apartment. Haifan is young, so give both apartments to him.”
She could buy herself a larger apartment in the future, but it was different for Guh Haifan. The child had lost his parents at a young age and suffered a lot, and he had been very cautious since arriving in Hong Kong; having two apartments would give him more of a sense of security.
He Bin was quite surprised, “Miss Cousin, a high-end residential apartment costs hundreds of thousands, are you sure you don’t want either for yourself, young master cousin?”
Old Lady Guh was also a person who cared about appearances, since she had said she would give apartments to both siblings, it certainly wouldn’t be a small flat of twenty to thirty square meters, it would at least be in a high-end residential area.
Lu Jiaxin said with a smile, “I am sure, don’t tell my aunt about this yet, I’ll find an opportunity to tell her in person.”
“Miss Cousin, you still need to get the old lady’s approval first, otherwise I can’t agree to this.”
Lu Jiaxin chuckled, “If you buy me an apartment and I then give it to Haifan, it would be a hassle and an additional procedure fee. I will talk to my aunt, I just can’t do it in the next couple of days. Find the right opportunity. You go and check out the apartments first, I want to move in before school starts.”
He Bin acted quickly, selecting two apartments within just three days; one was right next to Huaying Middle School, in an older building called Fuan Residential Area; the other was an off-plan sale, which was a development not yet completed, much like the pre-sales of later eras. The new development was by New World Development Properties, which was reliable and not likely to have any issues.
Guh Xiuxiu called Lu Jiaxin into her room and said, “He Bin called and told me everything. Jiaxin, you are a good child, but your aunt can’t favor one over the other.”
Lu Jiaxin shared her thoughts with her, “I know you love me, aunt, but Haifan is younger and needs some properties of his own. I can earn money and buy my own place in the future.”
Guh Xiuxiu said with a smile, “How about this, we buy one apartment for you and two for Haifan.”
Now, Lu Jiaxin had no reason to refuse.
Since she wasn’t feeling well, Guh Xiuxiu had Lu Jiaxin accompany He Bin to look at the apartments.
He Bin took her to Fuan Residential Area and explained as they walked, “Most of those who buy here have children. Also, because of the school, the price is higher, 860 per square foot.”
“How large is the apartment you are interested in?”
“One thousand square feet.”
Space in Hong Kong is incredibly valuable, and many people live in tiny apartments of three to four hundred square feet; one thousand square feet is considered large. Lu Jiaxin calculated in her mind, one thousand square feet is approximately ninety-three square meters, making the apartment cost eight hundred sixty thousand.
Having been built for over four years, Fuan Residential Area had very complete facilities and met the greening standards. Perhaps due to its proximity to the school, the area was very quiet.
The apartment was on the thirteenth floor, and the one for sale was on the ninth, which was a rather good location. Once inside, they saw the apartment had a layout of two bathrooms, two living rooms, and four rooms. The living room seemed crowded with lots of furniture, and the four rooms were filled with beds, wardrobes, desks, and chairs, leaving practically no space left.
Lu Jiaxin said, “Eight hundred sixty thousand for this apartment is too much; it’s not worth it.”
Though her aunt was wealthy, it was still important to save where possible.
He Bin took out the home purchase contract and said to her, “860 per square foot is the going rate, but after negotiating with the intermediary for quite some time, they agreed to sell to us at 800 per square foot if we pay in full.”

He felt that Lu Jiaxin would be interested in this apartment, so he had negotiated the price with the intermediary in advance. Now that Lu Jiaxin was keen on it, all she had to do was sign the contract.
But a signature couldn’t be given lightly; it carried legal responsibilities. Lu Jiaxin took the contract and read it through carefully before signing her name.
After signing the contract, Lu Jiaxin asked He Bin to have someone knock down the room connected to the living room: “Just leave the sofa in the living room, get rid of everything else; and in the dining room and kitchen, keep only the dining table and refrigerator, clear out all the rest.”
He Bin wrote down all of her requests and then asked, “Shall I have someone purchase the items, or will you buy them yourself?”
“I’ll buy them myself,” said Lu Jiaxin. She didn’t trust these people’s taste and preferred to do it herself to avoid wasting money.
Having bought her apartment, Lu Jiaxin then went with He Bin to a new property development. They were selling off-plan, but there was a show home available for viewing. Lu Jiaxin first walked around the surrounding area to check the environment and location. The location was very good, the environment appealing, and other facilities were also being improved.
Because of the prime location, the price was 880 per square foot, even 20 higher than the quotes from Huaying Middle School. This residential area was considered premium housing, and it was only due to the current property market downturn that such a price was available.
Lu Jiaxin chose two units for Guh Haifan, both on the best floors and each with 800 square feet. Because they were purchasing two units outright, the sales manager even gave them a 10% discount.
After signing the contract, Lu Jiaxin bought the pastries that Guh Xiuxiu liked and returned home. Avoiding everyone else, she told Guh Xiuxiu, “Aunt, the three apartments are almost 2.1 million. The property prices here are really too expensive. If we were in the Forty-nine City, this amount of money could buy us about twenty apartments.”
Guh Xiuxiu smiled and said, “Mainland prices are cheaper, but if I asked you to go back, would you want to?”
She really wouldn’t want to. Here, resources were abundant, the economy was developed, there were plenty of opportunities, and more importantly, no matter what she did, the people around her, even if they didn’t agree, would not stop her. Unlike on the Mainland, where a bunch of people would obstruct her plans and preach to her.
He Bin was quick. The very next day, he delivered the documents. Turning around, Guh Xiuxiu handed the property deeds and receipts to Lu Jiaxin: “Jiaxin, keep these for me.”
Lu Jiaxin smiled and said, “Aunt, you bought these apartments; it’s better if you keep them yourself, no need to hand them over to me.”
Guh Xiuxiu laughed and shook her head, “I’m getting old, and I might forget where I put them. Later, when we need them, we might not be able to find them.”
“By the way, don’t tell Haifan about the apartments. He is too young and can’t keep secrets. If the news leaks and Yanyan finds out, she might come to taunt you.”
Lu Jiaxin’s heart skipped a beat, but she didn’t let it show on her face: “Okay, I’ll keep them for him. Aunt, I remember you have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow; let me accompany you!”
She felt guilty for being so busy with her studies and business that she had neglected Guh Xiuxiu, and wanted to make amends.
Guh Xiuxiu declined, saying that Aunt Mei’s company was enough: “Your new place still needs furniture, doesn’t it? Go furniture shopping tomorrow; once school starts, you won’t be this free.”
Seeing that she was not keen on having her for company, Lu Jiaxin did not insist further. After going back to her room, she called Su Heming: “Is your brother back in Hong Kong today? Okay, I got it.”
In the afternoon, just after one o’clock, Su Heyuan called Lu Jiaxin, laughing as he spoke, “Do you have time now? I’ll come to get you.”
Lu Jiaxin knew from his jovial tone that he must have made quite a profit, and since she had errands to run anyway, she replied: “Yes, come on over!”
