Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack-Chapter 1285 - 1265: Arena
Haan Yun was only subjected to Hua Siye’s boring drills, and he ended up like this. I really wonder what the Sect Conference will be like?
The Hua Family might not be able to go, but that doesn’t mean Qhianqhian can’t. Luo Qianqian casually handed out some celebration candies and returned to their territory to talk about it. Huangfu Yihui was already quite interested.
Fortunately, the arena is not located inside the city; otherwise, they would be left lamenting on the sidelines.
The arena is an independent structure outside the Imperial City. Although it is outside the city’s jurisdiction, the building itself left Luo Qianqian awestruck.
The structure is vast and majestic, with an overall elliptical shape. There are twenty-four entrances in total, each having its own exclusive betting area, much like a sports stadium.
Inside are twenty-four independent medium-sized arenas and a large arena, but the large arena is only opened during significant events.
The medium-sized arenas can each accommodate six thousand people, while the large arena can hold fifty thousand.
The arena is not only protected and maintained by the Imperial City but is also safeguarded by various sect forces. It serves as a place for their disciples to showcase their strength, so naturally, ordinary people aren’t allowed to damage it.
To be precise, ordinary people can’t cause any damage here. Even the worst materials used for construction are refined steel, which can’t be easily destroyed by swords.
Even the chairs are designed with metal bases and topped with cushions to ensure comfort and easy maintenance, while also guaranteeing durability.
Usually, six medium-sized arenas are opened for general contests, although a fee must be paid to the arena as maintenance and the referee’s hardship fee for each skirmish.
In general, conflicts in the arena are divided into four types.
The first type is sparring, where the aim is to learn from each other without seriously injuring the opponent.
The second type is gambling, where serious harm is forbidden. It is the best way to resolve disputes between two cultivators and should not threaten their lives.
The third type is a life and death duel, used to resolve irreconcilable conflicts between cultivators, requiring one to die. Such fights are typically fueled by intense hatred between sect members, and the gap between the two fighters is generally not substantial.
The fourth type is wagering, usually applied to sparring between two sects, where similar-valued stakes are selected, and the winner claims the opponent’s stake, usually ending with sparring.
Apart from national grievances and familial revenge within a sect, such matters are usually avenged on the road privately, where there’s no justice or fairness—fate and vigor rule the martial world.
The battle formats are diverse, including one-on-one, two-on-two, group-to-group, and team-to-team.
However, most who enter here generally know the opponent well, so it’s typically one-on-one. Only during the Grand Sect Championship are the other modes used, with participants drawn randomly.
At the entrance of the large arena stands a huge black stone tablet, engraved with scattered names—those who died in the arena, with their opponents carving their names here.
Luo Qianqian didn’t enter through the contestant channel but walked through the audience aisle, bought three consecutive tickets, and entered the venue with Yan and Huangfu Yihui to find their seats.
The others didn’t come; they are more or less familiar faces around the Imperial City and don’t dare to appear casually.
Qhianqhian carried a small bamboo basket, casually packed with some snacks to avoid revealing the existence of a spatial storage device later, naturally needing more precautions.
They missed the morning’s opening ceremony, but they didn’t miss the time for the first test. In the medium-sized arena they were in, two parties were conducting the final spiritual power tests—all was fair and transparent, with all arena participants visible under the audience’s watch, unable to manipulate anything.
Unexpectedly for Luo Qianqian, each stage has its unique title instead of what she thought just passing through the Nine Heavenly Tribulation is called One Nine...
Before passing through One Nine Heavenly Tribulation, one is called a cultivator, primarily within Foundation Establishment, laying a foundation for future cultivation—an essential period that’s also the phase of the majority in the Northern Region.
After One Nine Heavenly Tribulation, one is called a spirit cultivator, the current backbone strength in the Northern Region.
After Two Nine Heavenly Tribulation, one is called a spirit master, representing the cream of the crop in the Northern Region, a rarity indeed.
The hierarchy continues with Spirit General, Great Spirit General, Spirit King, Spirit Emperor, Spirit Sect, Spirit Venerable, Spirit Saint, and Emperor.
Each stage is divided into nine star levels, only noticeable with specialized testing spiritual artifacts; direct perception of star-level changes is impossible.
Currently, three slender transparent crystals stand below; placing one’s palm underneath will change its brightness, with nine stars along the pillar visibly altering in brightness with hand placement.
The Sect Conference naturally doesn’t allow spirit cultivators to participate, so these three crystals correspond to spirit cultivators, spirit masters, and spirit generals.
However, the Spirit General pillar has never been activated.
No one in the Northern Region has used this Spirit General Star Pillar.
"Isn’t it a bit like that?" Luo Qianqian quietly said to the two beside her, her eyes revealing a hint of pondering—what material could this be?
Remembering the talent test pillar on Star Path, she instinctively touched her forehead.
Although it doesn’t show now, she knows what mark was once there.
"It’s different," Yan calmly said, leisurely eating popcorn in hand—truly there to watch the spectacle.
After testing, it’s time to arrange the drawing of lots, deciding the competition sequence.
The big screen also displayed the names of two sects, unfamiliar names, one called Flower Sect, one called Blessed Land.
From their names, Luo Qianqian thought Flower Sect must be full of beauties, fragrant and charming, compelling others to love them tenderly. Blessed Land felt peaceful, like a group of rotund folks who don’t compete or fight...
But why would they come here if they don’t fight? Evidently illogical.
But Luo Qianqian’s guess was correct; Flower Sect was indeed full of people with stunning appearances, dressed in luxurious attire—a picturesque scene standing there, and importantly, there were quite a few handsome men amongst them.
"If Flower Sect opened some brothel or small places, I’d likely visit often," Luo Qianqian quietly said to the two beside her.
"I’ve been tasked by your brother to keep an eye on you, so you need not think about it," Huangfu Yihui said calmly, sporting a look that said he’d pull her out if she dared go.
Yan nodded in agreement, "Flower Sect indeed has plenty of appeal, but even if they did open something, you might not afford it. One dress is pricier than our ticket costs."
"So expensive!" Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but click her tongue, looking incredulous.
Yan smiled slightly, "You are still young, but you’ll understand later. Women tend to go hard when splurging on themselves; even when going out, they dress up beautifully."
"How do you know?" Luo Qianqian’s face was full of doubt.
