Rebirth: Building the Strongest Party with my Overpowered Harem.-Chapter 24: Xenophon
Chapter 24 - Xenophon
Evans stood in front of the monster, blood splashed across his cheeks from the previous battles.
Behind him were the other adventurers who had joined him on the raid, Sofia Hemsworth and Dani Vani—both of whom were A-rank hunters.
While other adventurers were available, they were badly injured, and some were completely exhausted, unable to keep up with any more fighting.
It was to be expected.
The fights until now were bearable, especially with Evans still able to boost their stats and abilities many times over.
Still, when compared to the might of an S-rank monster, that was nothing but a joke.
Xenophon, the monster in question, stood over 12 feet tall, with multiple legs sticking out of its hard, scaly body, resembling that of an insect. Its head had multiple long tentacles, pulsing with energy strong enough to completely shatter anything they touched.
For almost thirty minutes, they had been battling the monster. But with every decent attack they inflicted, the Xenophon only got bigger and stronger.
'This is the strength of an S-rank? Incredible.' Sofia said to herself, standing right behind Evans, her dual staff dancing around her.
Dani, being a beast-type hunter, already had his hands transformed into the skin of a tiger, entering the mode known as Beast Mode.
"Evans... our attacks are only making it stronger. We need to change up our strategy," growled Dani.
Evans stood there, his mind blank, as he could think of no way to defeat the monster.
And then...
"What if we blow up its entire body?" Sofia suddenly spoke.
They both looked behind, wondering what she was going on about.
The same could not be said about the Xenophon, as it only wanted to kill the enemies before it.
Launching its tentacles, it aimed at the group. Luckily, they were quick to dodge.
Evans landed right on top of a pillar, his eyes focused on Sofia, who was hiding behind her wall.

"What did you mean by that? You think destroying its whole body will do it?" he asked.
"It should, shouldn't it? Erasing it completely is the only way for us to stop it from growing bigger and bigger," Sofia replied.
"Does that mean you already know how that can be done?"
Dani ran past her, heading straight for the monster.
Sofia took a second to collect her thoughts, and then she replied,
"Yes. All I need is three minutes. I'll handle the rest."
Part of being in a guild was already trusting your subordinates—having doubts would lead to unpredictable circumstances in the group.
Taking a sigh, Evans replied, "Alright then. Do your thing. Dani and I will buy you enough time."
He then turned his attention toward the monster, Dani right below, already charging at full speed.
'I already knew this raid wasn't going to be easy. I came in with 20 members in my squad—seven are dead. What kind of leader will I be if I can't even take care of this single-ass monster?'
Evans snapped his fingers, and a burning blade appeared in front of him, its fire roaring, ready to be used.
"Arrrrrgh!"
A huge wave of energy charged toward the monster as Evans slashed his blade with all his might.
Boom!
The flames exploded immediately upon making contact with the Xenophon's body.
Eerie screams left the monster's mouth as a huge injury appeared at the spot of the flames, fire eating away at its skin.
It thrashed around, slamming its body against the single standing walls around it, a desperate act to reduce the pain it was feeling.
"Yosh! We got it!"
Dani yelled with excitement before taking a huge leap into the air.
He then landed right on top of the monster, his huge tiger claws digging into the monster's skull like the beast he was.
Blood dripped to the ground, swallowing the earth whole like a pool of water in a dry desert.
They were finally winning—or so they thought.
It happened so fast.
The tentacles of the monster slammed against Dani's legs, completely ripping them off before sending him flying and slamming his back against the rocks.
"Dani!" Evans called out. He too was shocked—he could have sworn he hadn't seen the monster move an inch.
While Dani lay on the ground unconscious and bleeding out, Evans stood before the monster, its injury healing up as if nothing had ever happened.
Evans quickly looked back and noticed Sofia standing at the rear, a huge magic circle in front of her as she seemed to be casting a spell.
'Shit! I need to buy her more time. If I don't help Dani, there's a huge chance he might actually bleed out. Damn it! This wouldn't be the case if we had another S-rank with us. Urrgh, screw this shit!'
Evans stretched his hand to the side, the burning blade with him.
It was do or die.
Screaming his lungs out, he began to run around the monster as fast as he could while also dodging the tentacle whips of the monster.
All it would take was a single hit from the monster's tentacles, and Evans knew he would be visiting the afterlife.
Still, he didn't give up. He kept on cutting and cutting, trying to inflict as much damage as possible, though they had little to no effect on the monster, as it would always heal itself up.
Suddenly—
"Evans! Get away from there!!!" Sofia yelled, her spell fully loaded and ready for the offensive.
Obeying the words of his subordinate, Evans took a huge leap back, his eyes switching to Sofia.
"Cosmic Blast!!!" she screamed.
The magic circle in front of her pulsed with raw energy before a huge, powerful beam shot out of it.
Large enough to destroy multiple castles at once.
The beam connected with the monster's body, completely blowing up the upper part of its form, leaving only its two small feet standing.
Gnam!
Sofia fell to the ground soon after, exhaustion reaching her.
"Did I... get it?" she asked, unable to see past her own arms.
