Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate-Chapter 831: Perfect Timing
Ethan Seymour had left, and Charlotte Reed hastily inquired, "James, how should we handle this matter?"
"I have a way, Mom, you don’t need to worry," James Reed replied wearily.
Seeing James in such a state, Charlotte didn’t press further and simply nodded, "Then have a good rest."
The room finally quieted down. James Reed didn’t feel like moving at all. He just couldn’t understand why the video only emerged after he got the marriage certificate.
Did it have to make him lose face in front of the entire nation for it to be over?
Could it be that Charles Seymour did it?
James Reed furrowed his brow, pondering it seemed more and more possible.
He picked up his phone, which was turned off, powered it on, and just as he was about to call, the phone rang first.
Seeing the caller ID made a hint of joy flash in James’s eyes, but as he answered the call, his voice was weak and extremely tired, "Miss Cole, is there something you need?"
"James, what’s going on with the stuff online?" Hayley Cole asked excitedly.
"Just... that’s how it is..." James Reed’s voice carried a sense of despair, making Hayley’s heart tighten, pain pricking her heart like dense stitches.
"I’ve told you long ago, Ophelia Wilson is no good, but you wouldn’t listen!" Hayley cursed angrily, thinking Ophelia, ungrateful with such a good man as James, insisted on doing so many shameless things.
What on earth was Ophelia thinking?
On the other end, James said nothing, but his dead silence made Hayley gradually close her mouth.
"James Reed, you’re a man, pull yourself together!" Hayley didn’t know how to comfort people, never having done it before, naturally saying whatever came to mind, "Ophelia isn’t worth you treating her like this. After what she’s done, do you still want to stay with her?"
"Miss Cole, please don’t speak about Ophelia like that." James’s feeble voice ignited Hayley’s anger, "You’re still defending her? Is she worth it?"
"Ophelia truly loves me." James explained on behalf of Ophelia.
"If she truly loved you, would she do such a thing? She’s simply..."
"No!" James quickly said, "Ophelia has already divorced me, she’s divorced me..."
James’s voice was choked with emotion, the divorce pierced his heart profoundly.
"Di-divorced?" Hayley was overjoyed, bluntly saying, "At least she has a bit of self-awareness."
"I know it wasn’t Ophelia’s fault. I will investigate and clear her name, then... we’ll remarry. By then, Ophelia will have no concerns and can happily remarry me."
James’s words nearly infuriated Hayley, "You’re simply obstinate! Fine, I’ll see whether it’s a misunderstanding! Just wait, I’ll get to the bottom of it for you! In at most three days, I’ll make you see Ophelia’s true nature!"
Fuming, Hayley hung up and went to find someone to investigate the video matter. In her rage, she didn’t realize that on the other end, James couldn’t stop laughing.
James Reed looked at his phone, grinning ear to ear, showing no trace of sadness from being cuckolded.
Hayley’s call came at just the right moment, as if she brought a pillow just when he was about to nap.
