Rebirth: I became rich by farming-Chapter 50 - Noisy Siblings
Chapter 50: Chapter 50 Noisy Siblings
Chapter 50 -50 Noisy Siblings
“You wouldn’t be lying if you just told the truth, yet it’s clear you’re still lying, Fan Tianyu, you’re something else, sleeping till after 10 AM, no wonder you don’t want to go home. Here you’ve got food and drink and no one disturbs your sleep; of course you don’t want to go back.” Fan Tianhua’s words were thick with jealousy, and Fan Tianyu sniffed it out instantly, “Oh, so someone’s jealous, huh? Jealous of the good life I’m living here, while she has to work early and late, with no good food. You just can’t stand to see me live well.”
Fan Tianhua was furious. That was not what she meant at all, and Fan Tianyu was always twisting the facts, “I don’t mind you living the good life, but you can’t expect a high school senior to wait on you. Your skin is really thick, Fan Tianyu.”
Fan Tianyu was angry too, “When have I ever asked Zhenzhen to wait on me? I haven’t been idle at home either. I do the chores, don’t I? Sure, I slept in till after 10 and didn’t do anything in the morning, but I wasn’t idle in the afternoon. I wiped tables, mopped the floors, and did both the laundry and the dishes. Do you think I sit around doing nothing all day? Your porridge is ready, eat it quickly before it gets mushy from all the stirring.”
Fan Tianhua huffed coldly again and took a big gulp of porridge, “There, you admit it, you did get up after 10 o’clock. Besides, you washed your own clothes; are you expecting Zhenzhen to wash them for you? Are you too lazy to even wash your own clothes? Hmm, it’s delicious, Fan Tianyu. If there’s one thing you’ve learned here, it’s definitely how to eat well.”
“All thanks to Zhenzhen,” Fan Tianyu credited everything to Mei Mengzhen without any hesitance.
Watching this whole scene play out at the dining table, the Mei siblings were quite mesmerized. These two really knew how to keep eating despite their quarreling.
“No, I just eat whatever tastes good.” Mei Mengzhen didn’t want to listen to their banter any longer, so she changed the subject, “What are your plans for later? I have to do homework today, and I haven’t started on the 10 test papers yet.”
No sooner had Mengzhen finished speaking than Fan Tianyu spit out his porridge in disbelief, “Your school is really inhumane. 10 test papers? That’s really something. Can you finish them all?”

Mengzhen wasn’t too worried, “I wrote two of them last night, so I should be able to finish them today. I want to get all the papers done so I can take Chenchen out tomorrow.”
Go out to play? Mei Mengchen asked excitedly, “Play? Where are you taking me, sis?”
She actually wanted to take Mei Mengchen to Jiangcheng for fun, but the distance was too far. A one-way trip by bus from here would take over two hours. Half the day would be spent just traveling there and back, leaving little time left to enjoy themselves, so the best option was to stay in Xincheng, close to their home. There was a larger mall about a 20-minute bus ride away with a children’s amusement area that kids loved. “I’ll take you to the children’s fun zone at the mall. Next time, when we have more time, I’ll take you somewhere farther away.”
It was fine for Mei Mengzhen to take her brother out, but at the end of the day, to the Fan siblings, the Mei siblings were just two kids wanting to go out and play. Even the irresponsible Fan Tianyu was a bit worried. “Is it okay for you two to go out by yourselves?”
“Sure, it’s just a 20-minute bus ride away. What’s the problem?”
Fan Tianyu was still not quite at ease, “How about this, Fan Tianhua and I will go with you both.”
Fan Tianhua had no objections; she wasn’t leaving until the afternoon the next day, so she had time, “Okay, I’ll just catch the last bus. That’s the starting point over there anyway. After we play, I can go straight to work from there.”
“This won’t interfere with your work, will it?” Mei Mengzhen asked, mainly worried about messing up their plans with her own outing. It was important to clarify this.
Fan Tianhua shook her head, “I have nothing on. Just need to be on time for work. Besides, if I really had something to do, I wouldn’t have come back in the first place.”
If she had personal commitments, she definitely wouldn’t have returned, and if it were work-related, there was no chance she’d make the trip; fortunately or unfortunately, Xincheng was more than two hours away from Jiangcheng, and from Jiangcheng to her company, she had yet another hour on public transport. In emergency situations, the company wouldn’t even count on her due to the distance.
Since Fan Tianhua wasn’t leaving, Fan Tianyu couldn’t leave either even if he had plans. His start-up was a shaky venture at best, and he might do well not to attend to it. So, with both having no real commitments, it was settled in just a few moments of discussion.
Breakfast wrapped up amidst their arguments and planning. Washing the dishes seemed to have become Tianyu’s designated task. After the meal, he automatically started cleaning up the table, ready to take everything to the kitchen to wash.
Fan Tianhua was quite pleased with Tianyu’s initiative, nodding approvingly and following behind him, “Good, wash the dishes and also wipe down the kitchen counter. And don’t forget the table outside too.”
Tianyu usually tidied up these things while washing dishes anyway, having grown up with a hygiene-conscious and meticulous mother. He’d heard enough reminders from her to know these tasks needed to be done. But it’s funny how people are; when you do something voluntarily, it’s fine, but when someone points it out, you suddenly don’t feel like doing it anymore.
Fan Tianyu dropped the cloth and rolled his eyes at Fan Tianhua, “If you’re so good at giving orders, you do it.”
No woman loves doing dishes, let alone when someone suddenly stops washing halfway through. Unsurprisingly, the siblings started another round of bickering in the kitchen.
Their arguing continued, but it was clear there was no real malice between them. And yet, Mei Mengzhen couldn’t help but feel deeply, “So noisy.”
Mei Mengchen glanced at his sister, not fully understanding the meaning of the word but feeling that if his sister said it, it must be true. So he nodded vigorously, sharing the sentiment.
The rest of Mei Mengchen’s day continued as usual, except today the Fan siblings were there to keep him company, while Mei Mengzhen went straight upstairs to her room to finish her homework.
Having promised to take her brother out, she naturally couldn’t go back on her word.
She pulled out the test papers and filled in all the answers she knew. The morning passed as she concentrated on her work. After lunch, she tackled the more difficult questions, managing to piece together decent answers by thinking them through. Those she couldn’t solve, she marked separately, planning to fill in the blanks when she had time to contemplate similar problems. That way, she wouldn’t make the same mistakes next time.
By the time she packed up her backpack with the 10 completed test papers, the clock on the wall had already struck past 10 PM.
Writing for such an extended period under intense concentration was even more draining than the day she spent explaining problems. Not only that, her whole body ached from sitting still all day long without moving – a backache, leg cramps, she felt like an old person.
