By the time the boys returned, they found Eveline and Ella sitting in deep thought, their expressions serious.

Sharing a curious glance, Gabriel and Stefan approached them.

"Is everything okay between you two?" Gabriel asked, running a hand over Eveline's head. She flinched, her dazed eyes snapping to his.

"When did you two come?" she asked, blinking in confusion as she glanced between Gabriel and Stefan.

Ella, also startled out of her thoughts the moment she sensed Stefan's presence, felt a strange weight settle in her chest. However, unlike Eveline, she quickly masked her emotions and forced a smile.

Gabriel kept his gaze fixed on Eveline, but Ella took the chance to speak.

"Why don't you two stay and have lunch with us?" she suggested.

Stefan nodded in agreement, but Gabriel was quick to decline.

"I don't think that's possible. We have a meeting to attend, and Eveline is coming with me," he said firmly.

Eveline sighed, nodding in understanding. As much as she wanted to stay and spend time with Ella, work couldn't be ignored. More than that, she was eager to be alone with Gabriel and needed to talk to him about the concerns they had regarding Jedrick and his growing interest in Hayes.

After wrapping up their meeting, Gabriel and Eveline left, leaving Ella and Stefan alone.

"What were you thinking about?" Stefan asked suddenly, catching Ella off guard.

She had assumed he hadn't noticed her distraction earlier, but she was wrong. He had.

Ella hesitated for a moment, but she knew the truth couldn't be avoided. They needed to understand why Jedrick was so persistent in getting close to Marcus Hayes, especially when there seemed to be nothing profitable for him to gain.

Or maybe there was, and they were simply unaware.

"You still believe Jedrick doesn't know who your father really is, beyond just being Jonathan Miller's friend?" she asked, watching Stefan closely.

He considered her words for a moment before shaking his head. "I doubt that, especially after what he did to my dad."

Ella exhaled, her brows knitting together. "But even so, the reason still doesn't add up. He might own more than half of the company, but with the clause we made him sign, he has no authority to make any decisions. So why is he still clinging to it?"

Stefan's expression darkened as he mulled over her words.

"Do you think there's something more he wants from you?" Ella asked suddenly, her voice laced with suspicion.

That caught his attention. He turned to her, his gaze sharp.

"I think Jedrick's interest in Hayes International runs deeper than we realize," she added, her words hanging heavily between them, leaving Stefan even more curious and wary.

Gabriel and Eveline were on their way to the company when their car suddenly screecheded to a halt, the loud noise jolting them both.

"What happened?" Gabriel demanded, turning to the driver, who looked at him with panic in his eyes.

"S-Someone jumped in front of the car," the driver stammered.

His words sent a shock through both Gabriel and Eveline. Without wasting a second, they quickly got out and rushed to the front of the vehicle, where an elderly woman lay motionless on the ground.

Without hesitation, Eveline dropped to her knees beside her, pressing her fingers to the woman's wrist.

"She still has a pulse," she said, her breath coming out in uneven puffs.

Gabriel's sharp gaze swept over the scene. Their car hadn't actually struck her since there was still enough distance between the vehicle and where she lay.

"She must have passed out," he concluded, before turning to the driver. "Help me get her into the car. We're taking her to the nearest hospital."

The driver nodded, rushing to assist as they carefully lifted the unconscious woman, urgency pressing against them with every second that passed.

The doctor was checking on the elderly woman while Eveline and Gabriel waited anxiously outside. They had no idea who she was or how to contact her family. But one thing was clear: she had been lost for a while. Her frail frame and the barely-there shoes on her feet spoke of hardship.

A few moments later, the doctor stepped out, drawing their full attention.

"Is she okay?" Eveline asked immediately.

The doctor gave a reassuring nod. "She's stable. At her age, going too long without food and water can easily cause someone to pass out. She appears to be severely dehydrated from excessive walking, but we've given her fluids and sedatives. She should wake up soon."

Gabriel and Eveline sighed in relief.

"Have you contacted her family?" the doctor asked. "There's something I need to confirm regarding her condition."

Eveline and Gabriel exchanged a wary glance.

"Actually… we don't know who she is," Eveline admitted. "She collapsed right in front of our car. We brought her here because we couldn't just leave her there."

The doctor frowned, considering their words before speaking. "In that case, I should discuss her condition with you two, since you were the ones who brought her in."

Eveline and Gabriel exchanged a glance before nodding in agreement and then followed the doctor to his office.

"Please, have a seat," the doctor said, gesturing to the chairs in front of his desk.

They settled down, their curiosity and concern growing.

"What is it, doctor?" Eveline asked, leaning forward slightly. "Is something wrong with the woman?"

The doctor sighed, his expression turning serious. "I believe the patient may be suffering from Alzheimer's."

His words sent a wave of shock through both Eveline and Gabriel.

"I can't say for certain just yet, but based on her symptoms and considering how you found her, it's a strong possibility," he explained, watching their reactions closely.

Eveline swallowed hard. "So you're saying she might have wandered off because of her condition?"

"Exactly," the doctor confirmed. "I've already run some tests, and the results will be out soon. That's why I asked if you could contact her family. If she does have Alzheimer's, they need to be aware of how serious her condition might be."

Gabriel and Eveline shared another uneasy glance. Finding the woman's family suddenly felt more urgent than ever.

After speaking with the doctor, Eveline and Gabriel stepped out of the office, their minds weighed down by the revelation.

Eveline let out a small sigh, glancing at Gabriel. "How are we supposed to find her family?" she murmured, uncertainty lacing her voice. "We don't even know her name… what if we never do?"

Gabriel was about to respond when the doctor suddenly rushed out, his expression tense.

"Your patient is having a panic attack!" he announced.

Eveline's and Gabriel's eyes widened in alarm. Without hesitation, they sprinted after him, hurrying toward the ward where the elderly woman lay.
