Chapter 270: Chapter 270: Returning to 20 Years Ago (5)
Ji Yanli’s recovery was just like Lin Xu’s originally; he was able to get out of bed the very next day.
“What do you and your spouse usually eat to recover so well?” The doctor looked back and forth at the medical report, utterly puzzled.
“Maybe it’s because we exercise regularly,” Lin Xu stammered, searching for an excuse.
It was not until she had sent the doctor away that she returned to the bedside and met Ji Yanli’s eyes that were smiling but not quite.
“Exercise regularly?” His voice was teasing.
Lin Xu didn’t like the feeling of sweating and seldom exercised, but she would go to the gym with Ji Yanli, supposedly to supervise him working out. In reality, she would quietly ogle his abs.
A flush of red appeared on Lin Xu’s cheeks momentarily as she retorted, “Supervising is my way of exercising!”

Ji Yanli laughed softly, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
“Let’s talk serious,” Lin Xu twisted his arm and straightened her expression, “Do you think we’re dreaming right now?”
“What you just twisted hurts quite a bit, so it probably isn’t a dream,” Ji Yanli chuckled.
Lin Xu ignored his playful tone, “We missed out on twenty years with them. Being able to come back like this is a good thing.”
Every night, when it was quiet, she couldn’t help but feel regret in her heart for not being able to watch her three children grow up, resulting in their bitter childhoods and them all turning into law enthusiasts.
“This time we must discipline the children properly and make sure they don’t grow up crooked like they did twenty years later!” Lin Xu said, clenching her fist with a determined look.
“Well said, we should indeed educate them well. Kids need to be independent and not too clingy to their mother,” Ji Yanli stated seriously.
Just to avoid them growing up like they did twenty years later, getting anxious if Lin Xu was out of sight for even a few minutes and turning into mommy’s boys and girls.
Lin Xu gave him a side-eye, impatiently saying, “You better get closer to the children first, to prevent them from becoming hostile towards you like they did twenty years later.”
Thinking of the grown-up sons guarding against him like he was the enemy, Lin Xu found it amusing.
Ji Yanli let out a muffled chuckle, “Yesterday, they both cried pathetically by my bedside. That should count as pretty close, shouldn’t it?”
Just this morning before school, they both made sure to tell Tang Biquin to pick them up early after school to visit their dad in the hospital.
“Stop being so smug, let’s see if they’re still clinging to you after you’re discharged,” Lin Xu teased.
Yet, just as her words fell, the two brothers hand in hand ran into the ward and rushed over to the bed full of concern.
“Dad, are you feeling better today, does it still hurt?” Ji Tingyang reached out his little hand to touch him as if soothing his pain.
“Dad, when can you come home? We haven’t finished watching the last cartoon,” Ji Zeqiu also asked.
“Dad will be able to go back very soon. Can you give dad a kiss?” Ji Yanli bent down.
Ji Tingyang and Ji Zeqiu stood on their tiptoes, puckered their lips, and kissed him, leaving his face smeared with their saliva.
Ji Yanli raised an eyebrow at Lin Xu, a hint of triumph in his expression as if to say, look how close our father-son relationship is.
However, a few days later.
Ji Yanli was discharged, and their family of five moved back to their villa.
Ji Zeqiu, holding a remote control, was playing with a racing car in the living room, which stopped upon hitting Ji Yanli’s foot.
“Dad, you’re blocking the race car,” he pouted, signaling for Ji Yanli to step aside.
Ji Yanli touched his nose and then sat down next to Ji Tingyang, who was reading a book, “What are you reading? Do you want dad to read it to you?”
Ji Tingyang put down his book and said with a frown, “I already know five thousand characters; I can read by myself.”
Alright, neither of his sons needed him.
Ji Yanli could only go to the crib to hold his daughter, gently scratching her nose with his fingertips. However, the next second, the daughter stretched out her legs, and her little feet landed right on his face.
Ji Yanli pulled her little leg back with a look of helplessness on his face, “Even you despise Daddy?”
Having witnessed the whole scene, Lin Xu couldn’t straighten her back from laughter.
…
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, eight years had passed.
The three children at home grew up in an instant.
In the dark villa at night, a family of five gathered around the table in the living room, fully focused.
Lin Xu lit the candles on the cake and put a happy birthday hat on Ji Tingyang, “Happy fifteenth birthday to our baby. Close your eyes and make a wish.”
Now, Ji Tingyang had lost the childishness of his toddler years, his features were more pronounced. Starting middle school, he had already grown to be 1.8 meters tall, clearly looking like a handsome young man.
He closed his eyes, silently making a wish in his heart, and just as he was about to blow out the candles, a gust of wind from beside him beat him to it, extinguishing the candles.
Ji Tingyang was stunned for a moment, but he quickly realized what happened, and with a cold look in his eyes, he glanced at Ji Zeqiu beside him, anger simmering in his calm voice, “Ji Zeqiu.”
“I saw you taking so long and thought you couldn’t blow them out, so I helped you. No need to thank me,” Ji Zeqiu said with a mischievous smile.
Ji Tingyang: “I hadn’t finished making my wish.”
I don’t know if it’s common for all brothers and sisters to grow apart as they age, but the two brothers went from holding hands and loving each other as children to now showing tendencies to bicker and argue.
Which was causing Lin Xu quite the headache.
She hurriedly relit the candles, covering Ji Zeqiu’s mouth with her hand, “Mom will hold him off for you, blow them out quickly.”
Ji Zeqiu struggled, making muffled sounds.
With the candles extinguished this time, the lights in the room came on, and Ji Lanyue, nestled in Ji Yanli’s arms, clapped her little hands excitedly, “Cake, cake… ”
Ji Tingyang cut a piece of cake for Lin Xu first, then for his sister, dad…
Ji Zeqiu, looking at the air in his hand, said huffily, “Where’s my cake?!”
Ji Tingyang didn’t even spare him a glance, “Cut your own.”
Ji Zeqiu’s cheeks puffed up with annoyance.
Because of the grudge over the cake incident, Ji Zeqiu woke up the next day and went straight to the car, urging the driver to hurry and drive away.
“But the young master hasn’t got in the car yet,” said the driver.
“I don’t want to share a car with him. Let him take a taxi to school,” Ji Zeqiu turned his head and huffed coldly.
The driver looked troubled, but under Ji Zeqiu’s insistent demand, he drove off first.
Ji Zeqiu imagined Ji Tingyang taking a lonely taxi to school all day long and took delight in the misfortune.
When he encountered Ji Tingyang at the school gate after school, he couldn’t resist sneering, “You didn’t walk to school this morning, did you?”
