Chapter 55: Chapter 55

"Rowen? Where are you taking me to?" Vanessa asked as Rowen dragged her towards his car, shoving her inside as he entered and drove off.

"I left Kami there by herself," Vanessa said worriedly.

"She’s old enough to take care of herself, for now... you and I have somewhere to go."

"Where’s that?" Vanessa smiled softly.

"It’s somewhere you’ve always wanted to go for a long time. It’s time to bring it to reality." Rowen faced Vanessa. "We are going to Willows to see that fountain of yours."

...

They flew on Rowen’s private jet, and this time Vanessa hoped she wouldn’t be shot with a gun. Anyway, they arrived not long later and drove straight to a villa. There was no way Rowen was staying at a hotel anytime soon.

After settling in, they made their way to the fountain. The wish bridge was as beautiful as Vanessa had described.

Under the radiant moonlight, it was utterly dazzling. "Do you like it?" Rowen asked, his eyes fixed on her.

Smiling all through, Vanessa nodded, "It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever laid my eyes on... thank you."

Vanessa muttered, her eyes fixed on the bridge until Rowen then took her by surprise, "Don’t marry him."

Immediately he said that, she turned to face him, her smile now replaced with a solemn expression.

He walked closer to her as he took hold of her hands, "You said you are different now. You said that you have changed. You said you would become a good wife and a good mother. You said all those and showed them." Rowen paused for a moment.

"I know we started off things in the most ridiculous way, and for the past seven years we haven’t been a happy family. But it’s not too late. We can still make it work out. Tell me, would you give us a chance or marry Erin?"

He asked, dropping the bomb as Vanessa just stood there, absolutely speechless, as the wind blew her dress and hair, slightly revealing her slender and curvy shape.

She wanted to tell him yes, she wanted to jump in his arms and make him hers forever and ever, but she had to finish what she started first.

Before she could reply, Rowen cut in by asking, "Does this wish bridge truly work like the myth says?"

Vanessa nodded, "According to folklore, the first mayor of Willows stayed and married his wife because of the bridge. He was rich and she was a half-caste slave. Two people from completely different worlds, united by just a bridge."

Vanessa explained as Rowen’s eyes darkened slightly as he said, "In that case, it better work."

"Huh?" she said, confused, and suddenly Rowen lifted her from the ground as he carried her in a bridal style, taking one step after the other on the wish bridge.

It was as though time had stopped at that moment as Vanessa, whose hands were wrapped around his neck, just kept on staring at the man before her.

They crossed the bridge all the way to the other end as he said before placing her down on the ground, "It better do its magic, or else I’ll get it run down by a truck."

His words made Vanessa laugh slightly. "It’s already eight. We should go back unless I’ll be late to my own wedding."

Her words immediately earned a frown on Rowen’s face. Taking hold of her hands, he handed over a small box. "I won’t be following you back to Graceland. Starting from today, I’m on a one-month business trip. I won’t make it to your wedding. Take that as my wedding gift to you."

Having a faint smile plastered across her face as she opened it to see a red bracelet, "It’s beautiful, I love it." Vanessa said, pulling Rowen into a hug as he hesitated for some time before hugging her back.

...

Vanessa was taken back to Graceland by George, and thankfully the wedding was a night wedding so she could still have time to relax before it.

Time seemed as though it was on a racing competition and finally the wedding hour arrived.

The entire Graceland was on fire because Vanessa Owen, their one and only, was remarrying and it was going to be live. Weddings going live were hard to find these days because most couples would prefer privacy, but Vanessa wasn’t giving privacy at all. She wanted the whole world to watch her get married, the reason still unknown.

By 7:47, the entire guests were all seated, the priest awaiting the couples, as the huge hall was full of so many people. The decoration was huge and flawless, which left some people wondering how much they had spent in total to plan for the entire wedding.

Meanwhile, getting her dress fitted was Vanessa, as Kami and Fiona stood beside her, her two lovely bridesmaids.

The white wedding dress wasn’t as beautiful as the one she wore on her first wedding but still looked good on her. It clung to her curvy waist as her chest showed out literally full size, making her look absolutely breathtaking.

"Why did you pick today of all days to get married? It’s raining so heavily outside," Kami asked, concerned if the rain would affect the wedding, but Vanessa just smiled, "It doesn’t matter if it’s raining or snowing, what matters is how special today’s date is. That’s all we need to succeed."

She said, as Kami just exchanged looks with Fiona, absolutely confused. "What is she saying?" she whispered.

"I wish I knew," Fiona responded.

Suddenly, the door dashed open, and making their way in was Mariam, and behind her was little Tara.

Upon seeing her daughter, the tears Vanessa had been holding on to all day started to fall. "Tara?" she called her name as Tara ran towards her mother.

The two hugged themselves tightly as Vanessa traced down her hair, patting her warmly. Standing at the other end was Mariam as she said, "Rowen said you would have wanted to see Tara, so I brought her along. She has been missing you a lot anyway."

Smiling, Vanessa thanked Mariam. Just then, Linda appeared to inform them that it was finally time for the wedding. Taking hold of her flower bouquet and Tara, Vanessa walked out of the dressing room, only to see Erin standing there, but the wide smile plastered across his face dropped down immediately upon seeing Tara, as two other unfamiliar men stood beside him they were probably his groomsmen.

He looked good surely the beauty was genes but he didn’t seem happy to see Tara at all. "Vanessa, you look lovely, but you never said anything about including Tara in the wedding. The guests will gossip," he said, as Vanessa just smiled.

"No matter what we do, people will still gossip. For crying out loud, Erin, I’m literally getting married to my ex-husband’s cousin. If that isn’t hot enough to reach the headlines, then nothing else is worse. Tara is my daughter. Marrying me means becoming her father whether you like it or not."

Vanessa said, as she wasn’t having it at all. She was going to reveal her daughter to everyone in the whole of Graceland, whether he liked it or not.

"Shall we?" he asked, extending his hand as he tried to brush off the annoyed look on his face, and with that, Vanessa nodded and placed her hand in his before they both made their way to the wedding altar.

As soon as they both arrived, the entire noisy room fell silent as the slow wedding music started to play. Unending pictures were being taken as it felt as though everywhere in Graceland fell entirely silent. After all, their wedding was being displayed on freaking national television. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

All eyes weren’t even on the couple but on Tara, who just strode beside them, her smile and cute face absolutely identical to Vanessa. Because of that, people could immediately guess she was Vanessa’s hidden daughter.

The entire hall was filled with whispers and murmurs as Vanessa just smiled. She was going to make sure her wedding was the most complicated wedding ever to be heard of in Graceland.

As they finally reached the altar, everyone could then take their seats as the ceremony started.

The priest talked and talked as the time for vows finally arrived. Staring straight at Erin, Vanessa had a sweet smile on as the priest asked, "Erin Quinn, do you promise to love Vanessa Owen for the rest of your days, in sickness and in health, in richness and in poverty, till death do you both part?"

He nodded almost immediately, "I do, Father!"

They all clapped as all eyes were now fixed on Vanessa. "Vanessa Owen, do you promise to love Erin Quinn for the rest of your days, in sickness and in health, in richness and poverty... till death do you both part..?"

Just as she was about to give her response, the door dashed open as a loud voice was heard,

"You are under arrest, Mr. Quinn."
