Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Xin Yan’s confession
"It is," he replied to her, and she smiled widely.
"Oh my!" She exclaimed as she ran towards a particular spot in the room.
She picked up a bottle of wine as she inspected it, "is this what I think it to be?" She asked, already salivating while she held the bottle with both hands.
"Yes it is," he replied to her, and he was somewhat surprised. He never expected her to recognize such a wine as it was ancient.
The wine she had in her hand was a Château Lafitte Rothschild 1945, a French wine. It is one of the rarest wines, and it is highly sought after.
"I cannot believe you have such a wine in your collection, last time I recalled, this wine was going for an 100 million yuan, then how did you get it?" She asked as she inspected the bottle.
She was thrilled to be able to see and hold one in her hands.
"I got it through a trade," he replied simply, and she turned to look at him, taken aback by his words.
He chuckled as he noticed the question in her eyes, ’who would be so dumb to trade one of the finest wines?’
"I know what is going on through your mind, but it was definitely not the person’s fault, he needed a deal and I just so happened to be responsible for the deal," he attested.
"So what you mean to tell is that you manipulated him?" Xin Yan questioned, and he chuckled, his chuckle answering her question immediately.
"You are manipulative, really manipulative," she shook her head, still holding on to the bottle.
"Do you want to drink?" He asked and she nodded affirmatively.
"Wait here," he said and went into a corner and brought out two glasses.
"Have a seat," he gestured, and she took a seat immediately.
He beckoned for her to give him the bottle of wine, which she did immediately.
He handed her a wine glass and opened the bottle, which made a pop sound and Xin Yan giggled excitedly.
Likewise, he poured into the glasses and set the bottle aside.
They both clinked their glasses and while Li Qiang savored the taste of the wine, Xin Yan on the other hand, had already gulped the entire contents of the wine.
Li Qiang turned to look at her, and he was stunned.
He shook his head helplessly. He did not know who thought her such wine could be drunk in the manner which she did.
"What is wrong?" She asked with her cheeks flushed red.
"You are not meant to drink it that way," he said to her with a helpless tone.
"Then, how am I supposed to take it?" She asked while she looked at him with interest.
"This sort of wine is meant to be savored, you take small sips so you can enjoy it, you cannot enjoy it if you gulp it in one go," he explained to her and she nodded.
"So that is how it is," she slurred a bit, she was already losing her sanity, meaning she was getting a bit drunk.
"Please give me more," she pleaded, her eyes a bit dewy as she puckered her lips a bit.
He wanted to refuse her but looking into her eyes, he could not resist; therefore, he poured into her glass.
This time, she obediently took small sips, and she had to admit, the taste was entirely different from what she expected it to be.
She felt a burst of flavors on her tongues and she closed her eyes, allowing the taste to wash over. freёweɓnovel_com
"Is it good?" Li Qiang asked, and she nodded excitedly.
"It is much better than when I took it in a large gulp," she replied with a sigh.
They had several more drinks and were not aware as to when they finished the bottle.
As expected, Xin Yan became drunk as she was the one who drank more than half of the bottle of wine.
Li Qiang remained clear-headed as he urged her, "we need to go to our room."
"No, I want to stay here," she refused as she swatted his hands away from her body.
He sighed as he looked at the girl who had decided to curl on the sofa. He could not leave her there, or she will be uncomfortable.
He could only take on the next available option and that was to carry her, and that was what he did. Likewise, he carried her in a princess style, and she moved a bit in his arms, before burying her head in his bosom, she had found the perfect spot.
Li Qiang looked down at her, and he shook his head at her silly antics. He actually felt happy this way, he felt fulfilled.
He knew that if she was in her right senses, she would not allow him get close to her, he could only hold her this way.
He walked out of the cellar, the study before walking to his room.
"Thank you Li Qiang, for everything you have done for me, I thought I will be alone when I realized I had been reborn, but you have been with me throughout, thank you very much," he stopped in his tracks as he heard her mumble.
"I promise you won’t wait for long before I reciprocate your love for me because I think I like you," Xin Yan continued with her mumbles.
Thankfully, Li Qiang was steady, or he would have dropped her.
He looked down at her and his heart raced. Could it mean that it won’t be long before he could get to do the things which he had always wished to do with her?
He could get to hug her, and not feel scared. He began to feel excited as he waited for that day.
He concluded that he was not going to question her, in case as he went back on her words, not like she could, but he was being careful.
Not going to lie, he was somewhat scared. He could only wait and pray for good luck. For some weird reason, he didn’t understand why he felt his lost memories were connected to the woman which was in his hands.
