Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 533: She was meeting someone
Roseline did not leave the restaurant immediately.
She remained seated long after Anna had walked away, her fingers resting lightly on the untouched cup of coffee in front of her. The surface had gone cold, just like the expression she now wore.
Her mind replayed every second of their conversation.
Every word.
Every reaction.
Or rather, the lack of it.
Anna had listened. She had not argued. She had not defended Daniel the way Roseline had expected her to.
She had simply... left.
Roseline frowned slightly.
She had told Anna that Norma despised them. That Norma was not someone she should trust. It had been the perfect opportunity for Anna to question her, to demand answers, to show doubt.
But she hadn’t.
She had remained calm.
Quiet.
Controlled.
’Does she believe me... or not?’ Roseline wondered.
She had not lied.
Not entirely.
Norma did despise them. Roseline knew it better than anyone. Norma’s hatred was not loud or obvious, but it existed. Hidden beneath years of calculated patience.
Still, Roseline understood something else too.
Anna did not trust her.
Not anymore.
Not enough to accept her words without question.
Roseline’s fingers tightened slightly against the table.
"But what if she believes me?" she whispered to herself.
The possibility stirred something dangerous inside her.
Hope.
And...opportunity.
Roseline knew she had to be careful. Creating doubt was not enough. Doubt needed to grow. It needed to settle into Anna’s mind slowly, until it became belief.
She needed Anna to see Daniel differently.
Not as a protector. Not as a husband who loved her. But as a man with his own agenda.
A man capable of using her.
Roseline’s eyes darkened slightly. She would make sure Anna understood the truth.
That Daniel was not with her because of love. But because he wanted revenge. Revenge against them.
Roseline exhaled slowly, steadying herself.
This would not be easy. Anna was no longer weak. She was no longer easily controlled.
But Roseline was patient. She would wait. She would watch. And when the moment came, she would make her move.
Finally, she stood up and left the restaurant.
She did not notice the black car parked across the street. Did not notice the man inside watching her every move.
Hugo.
He had followed her.
Quietly. Carefully.
Without her knowledge.
He had failed to expose her once before, but that did not mean he trusted her now. Roseline was a master of manipulation. Her lies were layered beneath truth, her intentions hidden behind carefully constructed emotions.
He knew what she was capable of. And he knew she would go to any extent to protect herself.
So when she left the house earlier that day, Hugo had made sure to follow her.
He had expected her to meet Collin. He had been certain of it. But instead... she met Anna.
The moment Hugo saw Anna step out of her car, his heart constricted painfully.
It had been a while since he had seen her. Since he had lost the right to call himself her father.
Regret filled his chest, heavy and suffocating. She had changed for good
She was stronger not to dwell over them. Confident enough to stand for herself when things were going against her.
Ann was now unbreakable.
He had watched their entire conversation from a distance through the glass window, unable to hear their words, but able to see enough.
Anna had not embraced Roseline. She had not softened.
She had stood her ground. And in that moment, Hugo realized something.
Anna was not giving in. Not completely.
She was listening. But she was not surrendering.
A faint sense of relief settled inside him.
As Roseline’s car began to move, Hugo’s driver started the engine as well, following at a safe distance.
For a while, everything seemed normal.
Until Roseline’s car suddenly took a different turn.
Not toward home.
Hugo frowned. "Keep following," he ordered calmly.
The driver hesitated briefly but obeyed.
Hugo’s eyes remained fixed on the car ahead. His instincts sharpened.
This was not the route back to the mansion. This was something else. Something deliberate.
A quiet suspicion settled inside him.
She wasn’t going home. ’She was going to meet someone.’
And Hugo intended to find out who.
Roseline’s car continued moving through the crowded streets, its black exterior blending easily with the evening traffic. Hugo’s car followed at a careful distance, never too close, never too far.
Hugo leaned back slightly in his seat, his eyes fixed on the vehicle ahead.
He had learned long ago that patience was the key to uncovering truth.
Roseline was not careless.
She would never go somewhere important without ensuring she wasn’t being watched.
Which was why he had chosen to follow her personally.
The city lights flickered past them, and the traffic gradually grew denser as they entered a busier part of town. Vehicles moved in overlapping lanes, horns echoed through the air, and pedestrians crossed streets without warning.
For a moment, Roseline’s car slowed near a signal.
Hugo’s driver slowed as well, maintaining distance.
"Don’t get too close," Hugo said quietly.
"Yes, sir," the driver replied.
The signal turned green.
Roseline’s car moved forward again, taking a sudden left turn.
The driver followed immediately.
But as they turned, a large delivery truck suddenly cut between them.
"Sir—"
"Stay calm," Hugo said sharply, his eyes narrowing.
The truck blocked their view entirely for several seconds.
Too many seconds.
By the time the truck moved ahead, Roseline’s car was no longer visible.
The driver frowned and accelerated slightly.
"She should be just ahead."
But she wasn’t.
The road stretched forward, filled with dozens of vehicles.
None of them hers.
Hugo leaned forward, his gaze scanning every lane carefully.
"Slow down," he ordered.
The driver obeyed.
They moved forward slowly, checking every turn, every corner.
Nothing.
Hugo’s jaw tightened.
"She couldn’t have disappeared," the driver said, confused.
But Hugo knew better. She hadn’t disappeared. She had planned this.
"Roseline had noticed." he assumed.
Somewhere along the way, she had realized she was being followed. And she had lost them deliberately. That’s what he thought.
Hugo leaned back into his seat, his expression darkening.
Roseline was many things. But careless was not one of them.
"She took another route," the driver said hesitantly. "Should I turn back?"
Hugo didn’t answer immediately.
His mind replayed the last few minutes. But then he said "Drive forward,"
The driver obeyed, though both of them knew it was pointless.
Roseline was gone causing the silence inside the car grow heavy.
Hugo stared ahead, his thoughts dark and calculating.
She was hiding something. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
That much was certain now.
She had not gone home.
She had not gone somewhere ordinary.
She had gone somewhere she didn’t want anyone to know about.
Which meant only one thing.
’She was meeting someone. And that someone was...Collin’
Hugo’s fingers curled slightly against his knee as his anger flared even more, but his failure dissapointed even more.
