Chapter 71: Kings Gratitude

Thump!! The body fell to the floor with a bit of a rumble to it before Artemis wiped his blade clean.

That’s one problem dealt with for the time being— It’ll make for one hell of a story when I catch the party up on everything that’s happened today. Yes, everything happened within a day of us arriving here.

I didn’t expect it to unfold this fast but it did and I’m glad to say that it’s over now. Isabel is waiting for me back in that tower though so I’ll need to head for her.

"Who are you boy?" King Kuroda asks with curiosity in his voice.

Artemis turns to face the king and sheathes his sword. "Artemis, I’m just a traveler who was passing through." He answers with a genuine tone to his voice.

He definitely knows that something is up with me since I just killed everyone in the room without any time to waste. It was all done quick and left them no chance to attack me.

I’m probably seen as some sort of monster by his guards at the very least, I’d be thinking that if I saw someone do any of the things that I did.

Kuroda looks about the room as he takes in the sight of all the bodies. "You have my gratitude Artemis. It’s quite rare that someone will rush to the aid the king in a time like this. Stick around the kingdom for a bit and I’ll give you something in return. Haha" King Kuroda says before letting out a laugh.

I’m glad he’s happy about me saving him in this situation instead of questioning everything I did. By the looks of him, I guess he’s probably seen a lot in his time.

Maybe it’s not that odd to see someone like me do this to all these ravens as they were called. I’m definitely exhausted after all of that too, it was a lot more fighting in one day then I was hoping for.

I found the target we needed to find and I managed to save a king... This was quite the productive day for me to have.

"When should I come back to the keep?" Artemis asks.

I probably should be referring to him as your majesty or something but I don’t think he’ll mind in the current circumstances.

"Give me a day or two to clean up here and then come back to retrieve your rewards." King Kuroda responds.

I just gave him a small nod before leaving the keep. I didn’t need to say anything crazy or to stick around for longer than needed, he has a lot clean up after what happened.

Artemis looks down at his armor. I’ve still got that opening from where the reaper sliced through my armor, maybe I should fix that before we leave here.

I’m also covered in blood which is not the most appealing so I should probably clean everything off as well. There’s so much to do and I haven’t even slept since we’ve arrived.

Everything disappears around him as the flowery field appears with the goddess sitting in the distance once again. "My favorite person is here! Oh how I’ve missed you." She speaks with joy in her voice.

I’m starting to think that she just hates being alone here all the time or something since she doesn’t just do this typically. This is the second time that she’s done this to me.

Artemis walks up and takes a seat at the table with her. "Why have you summoned me this time?" He asks with a bit of confusion in his voice.

"You’ve found Isabel and even saved a king, I’m proud is all. I also do like having you around." She answers with a big smile across her face. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

I know she watches everything with me but this is kind of interesting to hear from her about it all. Summoning me because she’s proud of me, almost like a mother being happy when their kid does amazing on exams.

I’m definitely right when I say that she must be feeling lonely lately though— She was a lot quieter until this Isabel thing turned up recently.

I don’t think she knows too much about it, just I’m wondering if there’s something important to this that she isn’t telling me.

Artemis takes a few glances around, noticing that the place is a lot prettier than last time. It’s as if she’s grown even more flowers with a bigger variety mixed in.

"Yeah it wasn’t the easiest with exhaustion trying to overtake me." Artemis says while taking in the scenery.

My exhaustion doesn’t seem to exist here which is a nice change of pace but I know it’ll hit me when I’m back. This state really is like a dream of sorts every time I come into it.

She takes a few sips of her tea before sitting the cup back down. "I knew that you would be quite the special person to bring into this world. Even if you are forgetting your past life, this life is better anyway. It won’t do you any good to have those memories anyway." She replies with joy in her voice.

Last time she seemed a bit disappointed that I was forgetting my previous life or at least that’s how it felt, yet now she seems full of joy about everything. I wonder what’s got her in such a good mood all of a sudden.

"Yeah. Are you ever going to give me a name to refer to you?" Artemis asks with a curious look in his eyes.

I feel like I should’ve gotten to know her name by now but I still haven’t been given it yet. I’m not sure it’ll be a big deal for her to reveal it to me so why does it matter anyway?

Everything disappears within an instant and Artemis finds himself back in the middle of the streets of Theos.

She totally just ignored me and sent me back without answering anything, how nice of her.
