Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 105: State of emergency
Chapter 105: State of emergency
"You reek of sweat, go take a shower and get your things ready.."
"Yeah I got it.."
Few minutes later Haoyu came out wearing a black shirt and sweatpants, holding a duffel bag similar to Qingran’s.
"Have you told your boyfriend you’re leaving?"
"..."
"Older sister Qingran, he’s not my boyfriend and i didn’t tell him."
"..."
"Are you sure you want to do that? We’re coming back 29th, a day left before the apocalypse. I have this gut feeling you’re gonna regret this decision later."
"..."
"You don’t have to worry, let’s head out.."
Qingran didn’t say anything more and followed him out of the out.
[Ding! I have a feeling those words are going to bite him in the ass later]
Qingran nodded "Me too."
Present time.
"We’ll probably get to Guyoung in about 5 hours. I’ll book a hotel room for us. Tomorrow it’s all work for me."
"What about me?"
"Do you want to come along, though im not quite sure where I’m going to start from.."
She stroked her chin calmly "Lingquan give me a hint, how do I even find them or how I’m do I even get the intel that they’re behind the apocalypse?"
[Lingquan: Host, I can’t give you names directly. That would ruin the fun.]
Qingran sighed, resting her head against the cab window as the scenery rolled past them. The city’s edge was slowly giving way to open highways, stretching endlessly toward Guyoung.
"I’m not here for fun," she muttered under her breath.
[Lingquan: Fine. Then here’s your hint. The elite members you’re looking for are tied to three things: military infrastructure, black market trading, and a low-profile research lab that’s been shut down but still has people going in and out at odd hours.]
"That narrows it down..." she said sarcastically, but her mind was already turning.
Military, black market, and rogue science. Classic trifecta.
Haoyu glanced at her from his side of the car. "You look like you’re solving a murder case."
"I sure am," she said flatly. "One where the entire world dies."
[Right...]
She nodded this made her job slightly easy, now she would just have to search for the military bases, black market and labs to get the info she needed.
"Hey older sister Qingran, you gotta take a look at this.."
Qingran opened the cover as she looked out the window. Her eyes widened as she looked over the city.
They were walking right into deep shit and there was no way to turn back.
"I thought the apocalypse was still days away. Why the hell are there zombies crawling around.."
Qingran bit her lips, the government didn’t want to let the news out, so as not to cause panic but why did they still allow flights into the city.
Now she understood why Lingquan said they were going to come back one day before the apocalypse.
Haoyu leaned closer to the window, squinting at the blurred chaos below. "This can’t be right... There’s smoke—look at that intersection. That’s not just a traffic jam."
Qingran narrowed her eyes. From up here, the city should’ve looked normal, bustling, clean lines of traffic and lit-up buildings.
Instead, it looked fractured. Streets were blocked, some buildings dark, others flashing with emergency lights.
But it was the crawling figures in the alleyways and shadows that made her stomach twist.
"Don’t panic," she murmured, half to herself, half to Haoyu. "If we look nervous now, it’ll just make it worse when we land." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"You think the airport’s still operating properly?"
"They wouldn’t have let us board if it wasn’t. But whatever’s going on down there... it’s not a contained situation."
Lingquan chimed in, its voice lower this time, like it understood the gravity of what was happening.
[Host, it’s worse than you thought. The infection rate’s accelerating faster in Guyoung than projected. You may only have a few days before full collapse.]
"Then we’ll get what we came for quickly," she said. "We don’t have time to scout slowly."
Haoyu looked unsettled but didn’t argue with what he was seeing. "Guess we’re skipping the sightseeing."
Qingran turned away from the window, pulling her hoodie over her head. "Yeah. We’re going straight to the hotel once we land. Tonight, we sort out clothes and gear. Tomorrow morning, we split up—I’ll head to the military sector first, see what I can pick up."
He nodded, but the crease between his brows deepened. "And me?"
"I need you to scout the lower districts. Look for any trace of the black market, especially sellers dealing in weapons or medical supplies. Keep your head down—if someone talks to you, let them think you’re a courier. Don’t give out your real name and don’t do anything stupid."
"Got it." He glanced toward her bag. "You think the stuff we packed is going to cut it?"
"Yes it will. But clothing run should happen first. We stock up tonight—gloves, heat- and cold-resistant gear, everything in sizes for small to large bodies. Ten each per size, enough for a hundred people."
"A hundred?"
She didn’t reply immediately. Her gaze dropped to her hands. For a moment, Haoyu thought she wasn’t going to answer.
Then she said, "That’s the quota. For now."
"What if we get more than 100?..."
"They’ll just have to find their own means of survival. For now we’re taking care of only 100"
Haoyu nodded, it was survival for the fittest. They couldn’t take more than the supplies they could give.
"It would be suspicious to order online and we don’t know just how many zombies are out there. Even from up the city looks quiet, so it must have entered state of emergency."
Her mind drifted off to Feng Yizhou, where was he right now. When she got to the hotel, she would contact him.
"Give me your phone. I’m going to hide some of our things in my system space. We don’t know what they’re going to to do to us, once we get there.."
Haoyu nodded and passed her his phone and any other important thing he had one him.
