Chapter 131: Without Gu Qingran there’s no Feng Yizhou
"Dropped 3% after you faked the severity of your wound."
"Dropped 2% for requesting lamb skewers when she explicitly said congee."
"Dropped 1% for excessive dramatics."
"Raised 1% for not resisting treatment."
"Raised 1% for letting her tighten the bandage without flinching."
"Current net result: -4% since arrival."
"Okay. Hold on." he muttered, sitting up straighter. "I bled. I made her laugh. I even took the alcohol without screaming. And I smiled. That deserves more than a twenty."
"Host’s idea of affection-building is flawed."
"Excuse me?"
"Qingran values honesty, competence, and restraint. You did not bled for her, you could have easily taken down those zombies easily, you did not make her laugh, were you supposed to scream when a little alcohol touches your wound? L! Your smile has no effect on Qingran."
He groaned and covered his face with his hand. "Geez."
"Correct. So in summary, you did nothing."
Feng Yizhou paused, then muttered, "...Fine. Give me the strategy guide. Lay it on me."
"Basic Recommendations for Increasing Qingran’s Affection"
"• "Stop lying."
• "Stop dramatizing injuries."
• "Be useful. In silence."
• "Don’t flirt during medical treatment."
• "Do not suggest she likes fussing over you."
Feng Yizhou let out a long, suffering sigh and flopped back onto the bed.
"So basically I shouldn’t be myself. Caocao, I want Qingran to like me for who I am, my personality will show regardless.."
"Raising affection with Qingran is classified as ’expert-level difficulty."
"Indeed." Feng Yizhou sighed but that wasn’t enough to make him give up.
"She’s mine. I love her and I’m going to work hard to make sure she likes me back."
"Just don’t try too much. You’ll see how it easy it is when you just be your actual self."
"..."
Caocao paused for a moment before its flat tone returned in Feng Yizhou’s head.
"Also. She’s coming."
Feng Yizhou shot upright.
Then, with the speed of a man who suddenly remembered he had an image to maintain, he threw himself back down onto the bed.
One hand pressed dramatically to his temple, the other splayed across the sheets like a swooning poet from the last century.
He adjusted, so the bedsheets sat just slightly more provocatively on his waist, then mussed his hair a little more.
The door slid open and Qingran stepped inside with a tray in hand, steam curling up from the bowl of congee, the side dishes neatly arranged.
She glanced once at him on the bed.
Then again. Slowly she sighed.
"...Are you posing?"
"I’m in pain." he replied, voice hoarse with theatrical suffering. "I barely managed to drag myself from the jaws of death."
She set the tray down on the nightstand and crossed her arms.
"You were sitting upright few minutes ago."
He blinked, expression innocent. "I collapsed."
"Affection: -2%."
"..."
Qingran picked up the bowl and a spoon, walked over, and sat on the edge of the bed. Her tone was calm, composed, and unforgiving. "Open your mouth."
"I can feed myself—"
She shoved a spoonful of hot congee into his mouth mid-sentence.
"Affection: +1%."
"Mmmf—hot!" he coughed.
"You’ll be fine."
Feng Yizhou swallowed and stared at her.
"Darling you have to be careful, I felt that in my teeth just now. But I can’t refuse food from you."
"..."
"Why are you like this?" She sighed as she picked the meat with the chopsticks.
"..."
"Like what?"
He opened his mouth as she brought the food to his lips.
"Never mind.."
Feng Yizhou frowned, was she doubting his love for her.
"I’ve never joked about loving you Qingran."
He stared at her intently, so much she had to look away.
"Geez just stop talking and eat.."
".."
"You were the one...mmph.." his words was once again was cut off.
Feng Yizhu sighed, his lips forming a pout. Qingran eyes widened, not believing Feng Yizhou could pull off that of expression.
"That’s kind of cute.." she muttered, it was low but Yizhou still heard her.
"What?"
"Nothing.."
"Do you think I’m cute?"
Qingran set the bowl down with unnecessary care.
"No."
Feng Yizhou grinned. "Liar."
"I’m not."
"You muttered it."
"I didn’t mean to."
"..."
"Affection: -1% for pestering."
"..."
"Geez seriously.."
Feng Yizhou scratched his head, he sighed and picked up the bowl.
"I got it, you didn’t say anything...my hearing must be bad.."
"..."
"Don’t worry about it.." she said as she grabbed the bowl from hand.
"Do you want to eat yourself?"
"No."
Feng Yizhou rubbed his neck, it came out faster than he had expected.
"Eat up. The cooks worked hard on it and it’s getting late. I have to head to B city tomorrow.."
".."
"Why? You have no reason to go back there.."
"Yeah..you can say that but I have to bring the people in my save list here. I’ll be penalized if they die..."
Of course she wouldn’t, but he wouldn’t let her go if it wasn’t a mission.
"Very well. We’ll take the aircraft.."
"You can’t follow me. I’ll take Haoyu with me.."
"..."
"Why not? Why will you take Haoyu and leave me?"
"..."
"Calm down. I need someone to watch over this place. I won’t die there, I’m just going to get them and come back."
".."
"No. You stay, Haoyu will go along with my men..."
".."
"He can’t, I have to be the one.."
Feng Yizhou sighed. "You have to come back to me..alive, alive Qingran.."
".."
"Of course I will. I’m not going to waste my second life."
Feng Yizhou placed the tray on the bedside table and brought her closer.
"Just thinking about it, makes me worried. Don’t die please, I want to live a long life with you. You must come back immediately, I want you back that day too."
"..."
Qingran raised her head, getting Tzang Yichen to come along might be a problem.
"I’ll try my best to come back on time.."
She wanted to leave his hold but he refused and held her tighter.
"Stay a little longer. Just a little longer.."
Qingran sighed and patted his shoulder, the free one that wasn’t bandaged.
"You must come back to me, without Gu Qingran, there’s no Feng Yizhou.."
He raised her hand and kissed it.
Badum! Badum!
Qingran eyes widened as Hae face reddened, she knew when he said these words he wasn’t flirty.
