Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 143: Water is a luxury so you must use it wisely
Chapter 143: Water is a luxury so you must use it wisely
"This hotel is a nightmare on its own but at least it’s safer than outside."
She stepped out of the elevator and headed to the hallway.
She tapped in the code and walked into the suite.
It was already late but these three were still awake.
"Where are waiting for me? You should get some sleep while you can, there are some days when you won’t be able to sleep. I’m going to get some sleep myself. We’ll have a briefing tomorrow morning."
She walked into the room, falling into the bed with a plop. She wanted to take off her shoes but you never know what might happen at night.
"But we are in the highest floor..so it’s a bit safe."
She took off her boots and clothes, slipping into a comfortable pajamas.
"Good night Lingquan."
[Good night host]
Qingran sighed and closed her, placing the gun next to the pillow for extra safety.
No one slept peacefully that night, one sound made their back tingle and removed any trace of sleep.
When Qingran opened her eyes, it was exactly 6am.
She sighed, got up and headed for the bathroom. When she came out, she saw Lingquan lounging on the bed.
"Lingquan how long until we run out of water and electricity?"
Lingquan stretched with the air of someone who hadn’t a single worry in the world. His translucent form shimmered faintly in the early light spilling through the curtains.
[Electricity should hold for another week. Two, if we ration heavy appliances. Water’s a bit better. Three weeks minimum if no one showers like a celebrity.] freēwēbnovel.com
Qingran dried her hair with a towel as she stepped around him. "So basically, I need to start prepping for resource runs by the end of next week."
[Exactly. I suggest taking a team out for the water. Electricity, we’ll need to check the building’s generator and see if there’s fuel stored somewhere.]
She nodded, already mentally filing the priorities. "We’ll handle the generator today. Get everyone organized. Maybe assign rotation schedules. They need to feel useful."
She started pulling on her clothes—black cargo pants, a breathable shirt, the familiar holster.
"They’ll need rules, if everyone behaves as they like, this place would become a second apocalypse. I’m going to free up all the floors today, I’ll take Meng Nian and those other guys along with me. The faster we take over this place, the better."
She walked out of the room, Lingquan following behind her as the door closed.
Everyone was already up by the time Qingran came out.
"Good morning." They greeted in unison.
"Good morning to you too. Now before we talk about breakfast, I have to relay my findings from yesterday."
The air in the room was stiff as they waited for Qingran to speak, she leaned against the couch slightly and sighed.
"I brought back 6 more survivors with me yesterday, one had a broken ankle while the rest had minor cuts. Yuxi will be guarding them today, I’m sure they have no idea of betraying us but you never know. Meng Nian will follow me on today’s rounds. We will be clearing this hotel, the more we leave the zombies here, the more they multipy."
Meng Nian nodded, he wasn’t afraid to kill those things, he valued his life more and Haoyu was somewhere waiting for him.
"Miss Gu, do you know if Haoyu is okay or where he is?"
Qingran smiled and nodded "He’s in zone 5 with my partner, don’t worry as long as he’s wih him, he’ll be fine. If we want to see them we’ll have to pass through each zone. We don’t quite have the resources to do that yet or if we even can leave this place."
Meng Nian nodded, he was relieved a little too know Haoyu was okay.
"Now we can talk about the rules. You must follow these rules strictly. I won’t tolerate anyone who disobeys them."
"Rule one: no one leaves the hotel without my permission. I don’t care if your grandmother’s ghost calls you from across the street—no one steps outside unless I say so."
The tension in the room thickened.
"Rule two: no hoarding. Food, water, medicine, I don’t care what it is. Everything gets logged. Anyone caught hiding supplies will be treated as a threat to the group. I won’t ask questions. I won’t give warnings."
A quiet gulp came from one corner. She didn’t look to see who it was.
"Rule three: injuries—no matter how small—must be reported immediately. A single scratch from a zombie can infect you. And if that happens, I will kill you myself. Quickly, if I like you. Slowly, if I don’t."
She let those words hang heavy in the air before moving on.
"Rule four: if you hear anything strange at night—whispers, movement, tapping—do not investigate alone. Wake someone. Preferably me."
A small voice near the back of the group finally spoke up, "What about the generator and plumbing? Do we have lights and running water for good?"
Qingran turned slightly. "Short answer: no. Power’s limited. We’ll check the backup generator today. Water will hold for a while, but if too many people start using it like we’re in a resort, we’ll run out within two weeks."
She folded her arms across her chest.
"Each floor can only bathe once a day, only those who head out or come in contact with blood would be permitted to bathe again. Water is a luxury so you must use it wisely. We have more foods so you can still get a decent 3 meals a day."
"Those are the basics. More rules will come as needed. If you don’t like them, you’re free to take your chances out there with the rest of the walking corpses. Any questions?"
"No. How could we complain, we’ll be dead or turned into one of those things without your help."
Qingran stood up and turned to Bai Shiyue "I’ll leave breakfast in your hands. Yuxi you can eat before you head to the 39th floor, don’t forget to carry your weapon along with you."
