Chapter 171: Building a dam

Entering into the suite, she met Bai Shiyue near the counter, it was still mid morning...she guessed she was make lunch.

"Welcome back miss Qingran."

".."

"You can call me Qingran. Like everyone else."

Bai Shiyue nodded as she wiped her hands. "Would you be staying for lunch?"

Qingran shook her head. She would skip lunch, she had more important things to do.

"No. I just came to get my things. I’m moving to the 30th floor. Don’t worry you can continue living here."

Bai Shiyue brows furrowed, even though they lived together, she couldn’t understand Qingran’s thoughts and feelings sometimes.

"Did we do anything wrong? I know people have been whispering but that’s not enough for you to leave.."

"I’m not leaving, I’m merely changing rooms. To much lower one...that’s all. I’ll put one of the doctors in charge of you. You can do there for checkups. Not much they can do since we have no equipment but at least you’ve got a professional to talk to."

Bai Shiyue sighed and nodded, watching Qingran walk into the room. She couldn’t do much because she was pregnant, she could only obey and follow orders to protect her child.

Qingran rolled her hair into a bun, she didn’t leave anything around but whatever she saw that was her’s she threw it into the space.

Like the dirty laundry and any other thing she found.

When she came out, Bai Shiyue had resumed cooking, she gave a smile..she made Qingran pause. She hadn’t given her any clear reason why she was changing rooms but she still smiled at her anyways.

"If you need anything or want to talk to me. Use the comms, I’m always available for a call."

Bai Shiyue nodded, closing the lid she turned to face Qingran. "I’ll come to your room to give you lunch once it’s ready. You’ll need your strength if you want to lead people."

"It’s okay, you don’t have to do that."

"Please let me do that at least, pull some weight around here. I shouldn’t be living for free."

Qingran sighed, there was nothing she could say to change her mind, unless she wanted to be harsh but it wasn’t worth the hassle.

"Very well, do what you must."

Bai Shiyue waved goodbye as Qingran left the suite.

Heading to elevator. She tapped the button to the 30th floor. She needed to first clear out the floor. She hadn’t visited this floor before.

[A rebellion will start. You have to watch your back. The seed as already been sown, regardless of if you let more people in, both the new and old people will turn against you.]

".."

"How long do you think before they’ll turn against me."

[Well. Who knows, maybe tomorrow, next month, next year. The heart of people can change within a second. A word of advice though, trust no one. I repeat Qingran, trust on one, don’t let kindess or pity shake your heart. Don’t forget, you are the doomsday villainess and you must put yourself first.]

Qingran eyes darkened slightly, just like her past life, a rebellion had also started to form.

And before they’ll try to make a move on her, she’ll be on her way to the second zone.

[Aiyah! I couldn’t help myself. They’ll try to take over using the flood, so you must choose your party wisely.]

"Got it. Thanks for the information Lingquan. I’ll use it wisely."

[Yes. I’m only telling you this, so you’ll stay alive.]

The elevator opened with a ding and she stepped out. The floor was surprisingly clean which made Qingran suspicious.

The floor had 12 rooms in it. And everywhere was clean.

[Maybe the zombies didn’t get here? Not everywhere has floor]

"Maybe but...I need to confirm, if it’s really clean."

It took her 20 minutes to check if all the rooms were clean. There was only 1 suite in this place and the suite only had one room but it was just as luxurious as the rest suites.

"I’ll take this room. Lingquan I need something from you. Based on the height of the building, I don’t know how high the waves are going to be, so I don’t know how high to make the dam or how this hotel is going to survive without going down. We don’t know how long it’s going to last."

[Let me estimate.]

[.....]

[Estimate completed.]

[Based on data analysis, floodwaters will likely reach 20-25 feet high. Hotel foundation should withstand pressure, but dam reinforcement is recommended to prevent structural damage.]

Qingran’s gaze fell on the floor-to-ceiling windows, her eyes narrowing as she calculated potential risks. "Got it. Now how to go about the dam structure itself, it going round like a fence or covering it like a blanket but even I know that’s impossible."

[Lingquan’s response came swiftly.] [Dam structure recommendations: perimeter barrier with reinforced pillars and water-resistant materials. Fence-like design with strategic anchor points would be more feasible than a blanket-like coverage. We can utilize available resources to construct a sturdy barrier.]

Qingran nodded, her mind racing with the logistics. "Make a list of required materials and personnel. I’ll assign tasks accordingly. What’s the estimated construction time?"

[Estimated construction time: 1440 hours, real time it takes longer depending on resource availability and workforce.]

"..."

"The flood is coming in under 30 days. That’s about 2 months. We won’t make it. Give me a fast method."

[Expedited construction method: Prioritize critical sections, utilize prefabricated panels, and mobilize maximum workforce. Estimated construction time: 20-25 days with 24/7 work schedule. Risk of structural instability increases with rushed construction.]

Qingran’s eyes narrowed, weighing the risks. "Do it. I’ll start assigning tasks. That means we’ll have to start running trips to look for materials. Gosh! Just how how many materials and trips are we going to make."

[Estimated quantity: 500-700 steel beams, 1000-1500 water-resistant panels, 200-300 anchor points, and additional reinforcement materials. Scavenging teams will need to navigate zombie-infested areas and prioritize resource gathering. Sorry host, but I don’t see you getting any decent sleep in the coming days.]
