Reborn as a Hatrack in the Mystical Land-Chapter 914 - 32: Witch Sect (Part 1)
Chen Plane, a domain far away from the three great planes of Sun, Moon, and Star.
Though it is a residence of the Demon Clan, most of the Chen Plane is quite beautiful.
Under a deep blue sky, magnificent palaces hover in mid-air, surrounded by stars like merfolk pearls, with flowers blooming year-round like fountains.
Xingluo Palace, the Demon Palace where Princess Xingluo, the heir of Emperor Demon Ying Wuya, resides.
"Has the source of the news been confirmed? Are the Crown Prince and the Second Prince truly dead?" A seductive woman leaned on a soft couch, draped only in a gauzy fabric that half obscured her upper body, holding a cup of bright red wine in her delicate fingers.
Upon hearing the news brought by the scouts, the woman’s delicate brows rose, and a look of joy flashed in her eyes.
The Tian Family lacks familial affection; Princess Xingluo had no ties to the Second Prince of Dark Demon and Jile Crown Prince. She wished for both of them to die soon.
"The news is confirmed correct. Jile Crown Prince’s death was reported by one of his trusted aides, while the Second Prince of Dark Demon was killed by Yue Potian, the clan leader of the Sun Dragon Clan. Yue Potian also slew thousands of elite Sea Merfolk from the Sea Demon Clan. A Dark Merfolk barely escaped with his life, and upon returning, relayed the news," confirmed one of Princess Xingluo’s trusted aides.
"Foolish, daring to brazenly attack Four Symbols City—how could the Beast Clan let it go unpunished? It’s peculiar that a mere Four Symbols City would prompt Yue Potian to act personally," commented Princess Xingluo, her mind the most meticulous among the Imperial Family’s heirs, despite being a woman.
Though she wished to ascend the Emperor Demon Throne soon, she understood her strength was among the weakest of the Emperor Demon heirs.
Emperor Demon Ying Wuya may have married four Demon Concubines, but the families of the Great Demon Concubine and Second Demon Consort hold significant power and influence on the Chen Plane, whereas the Third Demon Consort’s power is relatively weaker.
Thus, she outwardly accepted the status quo, remaining in Xingluo Palace while secretly keeping a close watch on the information concerning her two elder brothers.
The information about Jile Crown Prince infiltrating the Canglong Continent was something she had secretly informed the Second Prince of Dark Demon about.
The impatient Second Prince of Dark Demon immediately dispatched forces to attack Four Symbols City. Initially, she intended to let them wear each other down, taking advantage of the situation. But both of them ended up dead in the Star Plane, as if fate itself was aiding her.
"Third Princess, the news of the two princes’ deaths hasn’t spread yet. Why not take advantage of this by moving into the Emperor Demon Palace first, gaining the upper hand? Once the news spreads, you can lead the charge against Four Symbols City, avenging your elder brothers, and ascend the Emperor Demon Throne, fulfilling your long-held wish," suggested Princess Xingluo’s strategist.
"No, Father is still alive in this world. How could I ascend the throne? The Crown Prince and Second Prince may be dead, but their mothers still reside within the Emperor Demon Palace. Those two witches will surely use Father’s presence to claim I have no right to ascend, using it to punish me," Princess Xingluo’s seductive eyes turned thoughtfully.
"Yet Lord Emperor Demon has been asleep for ten thousand years, never awakening during this time. If he does not awaken, wouldn’t the Demon Clan remain leaderless?" The strategists did not hold back; the Demon Clan has infinite lifespan, and if Lord Emperor Demon remains asleep, the Princess’s hope to ascend is futile.
"Hmph, if he doesn’t awaken, we’ll ensure he never wakes. Have you all forgotten why Father fell into a coma? As long as we send that woman into the Underground Palace, her hatred toward Father will surely drive her to kill him. Then, I can ascend uncontested as the new Emperor Demon. We’ll use the pretense of avenging Four Symbols City by attacking her associates within the Star Plane," Princess Xingluo laid out her plan, and her strategists applauded enthusiastically.
"We must not delay. I’ll head to the Emperor Demon Palace now to meet with our Four Demon Concubines," said Princess Xingluo as she finished her wine and left Xingluo Palace.
Inside the Emperor Demon Palace, it had grown desolate since Emperor Demon Ying Wuya had fallen into a ten-thousand-year coma.
The three Demon Concubines avoided confrontation by moving out with their respective Demon Clan heirs, each constructing different palaces.
Only the Fourth Demon Concubine, isolated in the Cold Palace, and her intellectually challenged Fourth Prince live within the Emperor Demon Palace.
When Princess Xingluo entered the Cold Palace, the chilling atmosphere hit her.
The Cold Palace, the coldest place within the Emperor Demon Palace, where a peerlessly beautiful woman was buried for ten thousand years.
Princess Xingluo had seen the Fourth Demon Concubine once when she was young. All she remembered was that the Fourth Demon Concubine had been brought back from the Star Plane by her father.
Different from her mother and the other two Demon Concubines who hailed from the Demon Clan, she belonged to the Human Race—mortals rumored to grow old and die, possessing insignificant lives and weak power.
While Chen Plane hosts some humans, they mostly exist as slaves.
Princess Xingluo had seen them, recalling only their ugliness.
She could not fathom why her Heavenly God-like father would bring back a Human Race member, disregarding the opposition from the other Demon Concubines to declare a human woman as the Fourth Demon Concubine.
Before the arrival of the Fourth Demon Concubine, Princess Xingluo’s mother was the favored concubine, and the young princess was beloved by Ying Wuya as his only daughter. But all of this changed with the arrival of the Fourth Demon Concubine.
Ying Wuya poured his affection into the Fourth Demon Concubine, building human-style houses and commanding imperial chefs in the palace to cook human food. Everything the Fourth Demon Concubine desired, Ying Wuya would fulfill without hesitation.
For the first time, Princess Xingluo witnessed such behavior from her father, the lofty Emperor Demon, who seemed humble like a grain of dust.
But even then, the Fourth Demon Concubine remained indifferent.
She expelled Ying Wuya from her abode and forbade the female officials of the Demon Clan from entering her quarters.
Yet Ying Wuya remained obstinate, indulging her as before.
Three years passed, and after a banquet one day, Emperor Demon Ying Wuya stormed into the Fourth Demon Concubine’s residence. From then on, the Fourth Demon Concubine became pregnant.
Princess Xingluo saw the Fourth Demon Concubine for the first time when she was six months pregnant.
She was a coldly beautiful woman, devoid of any smile and not as radiant as the other Demon Concubines.
Still, Princess Xingluo considered her the most beautiful woman she had ever seen.
Her beauty was innate, bone of jade, skin of ice, yet beneath it was a detachment, a sense that the Fourth Demon Concubine was merely an empty shell.
Thinking back, Princess Xingluo stood before the main entrance of the Cold Palace, pushing the door wide open to be greeted by a creaking sound, as the dust-covered door was opened.
