Leon exhaled, he was thrilled by what he saw. Besides being thrilled, he was also carefully thinking of how he was going to answer this question while keeping his core secret hidden.

After a few seconds, he finally turned towards Talia. "After becoming a D Rank Mechanist, my body went through a lot of changes and I’m still getting used to them. I just realized now that my synchronization with my advanced A.I can let me tell how ready you are to attempt a Trial".

Hearing him, Talia didn’t ask for specifics as her eyes lit up immediately as she stared at him in an expectant manner. "And?"

"You’ve met the requirements to attempt your 2nd Trial," Leon finally answered with a smile. "You must have met the requirements during the course of the resources battle in Drift Haven".

"Participating in that war was actually the perfect fertilizer for you to enhance your growth as a NetRunner".

He looked at Tyla next who had been uncharacteristically quiet since the beginning of this reunion.

He forced a smile at her. "Unfortunately, like I already told you before, you’re still pretty far from meeting the requirements to attempt your first Trial".

"Statistically, you’re just 1/3rd of the way there".

She quietly stared at him in an impassive manner.

Leon coughed. "So um, yeah, keep working hard".

He quickly averted his gaze and looked at Daren who was smirking at him, he knew exactly what was going through the bastard’s mind. ’Fool!’ He cursed in his mind before he explained.

"You should already know the answer but let me still tell you," he smirked back at the Cyber Gladiator. "You’re still light-years away from being fit to challenge your next Trial".

"If you attempt it, I may just have to hunt another E Rank Neon Beast".

Daren chuckled, not offended at all. "That’s fine, I’m more than satisfied with my current level of power for now".

"I’m in no rush". He grinned.

Leon glared at him silently, then he looked at the 2 Synths who were in the gathering. "Both of you are ready to attempt your first Trials".

"I believe you should know this already".

Brick leaned back on his chair and sighed. "I’m not getting younger. In some parts of the world, I’ll be seen as an old man already".

"I’ve seen too many companions of mine turn corrupt and become Neon Beasts due to failing Trials, and I heard that the risk of failure is exponentially higher the more advanced you get in age".

He quietly shook his head. "I’m not as bold as you. I don’t think I want to attempt a Trial at all, I’m satisfied with my current power".

"And if in the future, if it’s not enough, then it’s most likely my time to go".

"I’ve lived long enough".

Leon quietly stared at the Synth for a few seconds in silence, then he nodded, respecting his choice before he focused on Ghostwire but the green-eyed Synth did not even react to his stare.

He was like a statue.

Leon chuckled, then he focused on Talia again. "You’re ready, but you should not rush it. Make sure you’re in your best state both physically and mentally before you attempt your Trial".

"The nature of Trials are not set in stone, and it’s this unpredictability that make them so hard to survive for certain people".

Leon smiled. "But you’re Talia, you should be able to do it".

"D Rank..." Talia muttered in a soft voice. "A few years ago, I would have never even thought of this".

"D Rank felt like an insurmountable mountain to me before and yet now, I’m talking about it like it’s something common".

She looked Leon in the eye. "You’ve really change my whole outlook to life and the Ascended system. Before, I thought I was the one helping you, but maybe you were the one helping me all along".

In that moment, Tyla who had been quiet since the beginning of the reunion finally broke her silence as she looked at the E Rank NetRunner.

"What’s your relationship with Leon?"

For a brief moment, Talia was taken aback by the nature of the question but seeing the expression on Leon’s face and the honest expression on the lady’s face, a knowing smile bloomed on her face.

She calmly looked at Tyla and said. "I was once his squad leader and mentor," she chuckled. "But as you can see, he’s far stronger than me now".

Tyla looked at Talia in silence for a few seconds, then she smiled, her first smile since this reunion started. "Girl to girl, I trust you".

The whole drama made his face blush red while Daren snickered in the background even as Brick and Ghostwire stared at him with cold, impassive, and expressionless looks on their metallic faces.

In the end, feeling embarrassed, he quickly decided to change the topic.

"Since becoming a D Rank Ascended, I’ve not quite had the opportunity of a good ol’ spar yet". Leon grinned and immediately showed a provocative smile. "I’ll take on all of you at the same time".
