Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 656: Horror Awakens, Threat From The Future!
Displayed on the virtual screen was an expanse of deep blue ocean, with a cruise ship adrift at the center of the frame.
In truth, the ship wasn’t upright—it had capsized, lying on its side, while several thick, shadowy tentacles coiled menacingly over its hull. Though the image was crystal clear, the tentacles themselves appeared distorted, as if shrouded in some kind of strange, warping energy.
A closer inspection revealed a grotesque detail—those tendrils were covered in countless blinking eyes.
“Little Blue, what… is that thing?” Yaeger asked slowly, forcing calm into her voice despite the chill gripping her chest.
“It’s probably some ancient creature native to this planet,” Little Blue replied, her voice uncertain.
Yaeger’s eyes remained fixed on the image, her face grim and unreadable.
Beyond the terrifying tendrils, she also noticed something far more ominous—a dark, looming silhouette beneath the ship. The shape was unnaturally, impossibly massive.
‘Just how enormous is this thing? No—more importantly, there’s an ancient creature on Aqua Blue Star… and it’s awakened!'
Her fists clenched instinctively as shock surged through her like a tidal wave. Then, without warning, a memory from her past life resurfaced.
Before the fusion of the two worlds, a bizarre and horrifying incident had taken place on Aqua Blue Star—an event that had shaken the world. A luxury cruise liner carrying 3,500 passengers from 56 different countries had vanished without a trace in the Pacific Ocean.
‘Could it be… the same one…?' A cold numbness spread through Yaeger’s limbs as she continued to study the image.
“Little Blue… do we have any follow-up images?” she asked, unease creeping into her tone.
“Yes.” Little Blue tapped the screen, and a second image instantly appeared.
This image showed the ocean roiling with violent waves—but both the cruise ship and the creature had completely vanished.
“That’s it?” Yaeger asked, frowning in confusion.
“That’s everything,” Little Blue said, shaking her hands. “The satellite is a bit outdated, so its image intervals are spaced too far apart.”
“Find out the cruise ship’s name—and where exactly in the ocean this took place.”
Considering the monstrosity they had faced, there was no way the passengers aboard had survived. But what truly troubled Yaeger now was whether the cruise ship bore the same name… and whether it had vanished in the same region she remembered.
‘Please… let it not be the MS Royal Princess. And don’t let it be the South Pacific Ocean…'
If it wasn’t the exact same event, maybe—just maybe—it could still be dismissed. However… The more one wished to avoid something, the more certain fate seemed to bring it about.
With the data extracted from the image, Little Blue quickly pulled up the results.
“Master, the ship’s name is the MS Royal Princess. And the incident took place in the South Pacific Ocean.”
The revelation struck like a thunderclap, leaving Yaeger stunned—her mind went completely blank, as if scorched by lightning.
“Master?” Little Blue blinked, puzzled. Her master stood frozen, like a statue carved from stone.
Yaeger didn’t respond. In her mind, it was as if nuclear warheads were detonating one after another, each thought erupting into a mushroom cloud. It was, without question, the greatest shock she had ever experienced.
‘It’s the same… exactly like in my past life. The MS Royal Princess… the South Pacific Ocean… it all matches. But the timing is wrong! That incident wasn’t supposed to happen for another three years!'1
It was clear now—the future had already shifted, wildly and without warning.
‘Why is the future happening early?' The confusion swirled uncontrollably in Yaeger’s mind.
“Master?” Little Blue waved a hand in front of her face, trying once more to snap her out of it.
At last, Yaeger snapped back to reality. Her face was pale, her thoughts still in disarray.
“I’m fine,” she said at last. “Just… shaken by that giant creature.” It wasn’t a lie—the being hidden beneath the sea truly was terrifying. And more than that, it posed a serious threat to her.
“I see. You don’t have to worry, Master! The City of Chaos can obliterate a creature like that with a single cannon shot!” Little Blue puffed up her nearly flat chest with pride.
“You mean… the City of Chaos at full strength?” Yaeger asked sharply.
“Nope. Even at just fifteen percent restored, it could wipe out that monster without issue,” Little Blue replied casually, switching the image as she stared at the dark shape beneath the waves.
Somewhere in her fragmented memories, she recalled dealing with countless creatures like that one. It wasn’t worth fearing.
Hearing that, Yaeger let out a deep breath of relief. The City of Chaos was her trump card in the real world—her ultimate insurance. If even the damaged City of Chaos couldn’t handle that creature, she’d have to start planning an escape route—fast.
Fully restoring the City of Chaos wasn’t easy. The sheer volume of resources needed was enough to make her head spin.
“Keep a close watch on the South Pacific Ocean. Let me know immediately if there’s any unusual movement,” she said with gravity. She didn’t know why the future had arrived early—but knowing now meant she had more time to prepare. And that could make all the difference in minimizing the threat.
“Understood!” Little Blue nodded, then remembered something. “Oh—should I delete the satellite images?”
Images like that would undoubtedly trigger global panic if they ever got out.
Yaeger paused, then shook her head. “No. Don’t delete it. It’s better if the major powers see it. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them already knew this world wasn’t normal.”
As an individual, Yaeger had almost no access to classified intel—but for powerful nations, it was a different story entirely. Especially the Five Great Nations. Given how aggressively they had pushed this game, they likely already sensed something was very wrong.
‘Let them deal with it,’ Yaeger thought. ‘It’s not my responsibility.’
Yaeger wasn’t a saint. She had no intention of carrying the weight of the world on her own shoulders.
“Of course,” Little Blue replied promptly.
She tapped on the virtual screen again. “Master, there’s something else—something that seems quite abnormal.”
“What now?” Yaeger frowned slightly. ‘Why does this planet have so many problems?’
“Please have a look,” Little Blue said, pulling up two satellite images on the screen.
“It’s just ice. What’s so special about that?” Yaeger asked, puzzled as she glanced at the floating icebergs in the images.
“This one’s from Antarctica. The other’s from somewhere near the North Pole,” Little Blue explained, pointing at each image in turn.
“What exactly is abnormal about them?” Yaeger pressed.
“There are several things, Master. Please take a closer look.” Little Blue tapped the screen again.
Two more satellite images appeared instantly in response.
“Master, these were captured two days ago. Do you notice the changes in the landscape compared to the previous ones?” Little Blue asked calmly.
Yaeger leaned in. As soon as she saw it, her pupils contracted. “The icebergs… they’ve shrunk!” she exclaimed.
“That’s right,” Little Blue confirmed. “In just two days, the icebergs in both regions have significantly receded. And there’s more—massive seismic activity was recorded in both zones not long ago.”
The more she heard, the more unease crept into Yaeger’s heart. She vaguely recalled that in her past life, unusual phenomena had begun occurring in the polar regions—Antarctica and the North Pole—around three years from now.
‘This can’t just be a coincidence… can it?'
Dealing with the monster in the South Pacific was already bad enough—now there were signs of further anomalies across the globe.
‘What the hell is wrong with this world? Can’t I just live in peace for once?'
Just as her headache began to spike, a sudden electronic tone broke the silence.
Silva: Glad that it is happening now, if this happens 3 years in the novel, how long will it take this novel to reach that point?
