Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 65: Ch : The Wish is not a Lie
[Game 9 has finished. Please select your reward]
[10,000 System Coins, 10X Max Recovery potions, 1-C grade artefact gatcha]
The three options were not as good as previous rounds had been, so Andrew quickly selected the money this time.
From the looks on others’ faces, they also did not have great options this time.
The selection ended quickly, and the sky cracked before the puppet floated out of the hole she had torn in the sky.
"You all presented me with a boring story, so I will not give you any additional points. The time for the next game will start soon."
She did not explain much, but her disappointment was clear in her monotonous voice.
The world around them broke into pieces, and they all returned to the human world.
"Tsk, what the hell-! What did that puppet mean by ’boring story?’ We were fighting for our lives here. Does she think it was a joke for us?"
Clara roared as she tried to get her temper in check. Of course, her anger had no effect on the puppet.
"I hope you all will show me an exciting story next time."
Those were the puppet’s last words before she disappeared. The humans she had brought back looked annoyed, but by this time, they had gotten used to the games and went about their normal way.
"We should head back as well. Overthinking about the puppet’s words will not do us any good."
Andrew reminded his group as they nodded. And Clara was the one who broke the silence and brought up the topic no one else dared to do.
"Hmm, I wonder where Seraphina went. She did not feel like another NPC, and Andrew even said he knew her..."
"Tsk."
Emperor did not look happy hearing Seraphina’s name, and Andrew felt a pang of longing to meet the ’friend’ he had lost.
However, Seraphina’s system screen had given him a ray of hope. She had a chance to become a player, and he hoped she would.
"I am sure we will see her again. But whether it will be as an ally or an enemy...that remains to be seen."
Emperor sounded sure that they would meet Seraphina again, but his concerns were something Andrew was beginning to share as well.
He also wondered if Seraphina would be an ally or an enemy the next time they met.
__________
"Where...am I?"
Seraphina questioned as she opened her eyes. The world around her looked white, and she slowly came out of her daze.
The system’s blue screen was the only thing that filled the white space around her, and she immediately read the message on it.
[You have completed your mission. You have graduated from your status as ’NPC’. You will be promoted to a player status]
[New mission: Integrate yourself into human society and disrupt their game. Successful interruption will gain you 10 points. Once you collect 100, you can exchange them in the shop for a wish]
"A wish...? Since when was the system so gracious?"
Seraphina did not trust the system, but hope was a hard thing to hold back. So she immediately opened her system shop, and the first item on the list was a wish...with a lot of conditions.
"Tsk, a wish...? This is a scam!"
[You cannot ask to revive a dead person, nor wish for anything that would disrupt the balance. For more details about wish restrictions, please check the following page...]
There were a lot of restrictions about what the wish could be. But the wish was still quite flexible.
"Am I...a player again? What will happen to me now?"
Seraphina asked, and the white around her started to shift once more. She closed her eyes to block out the white light and opened them in the human world.
"This place is..."
"Human world. Congratulations on becoming a player on the system’s side. Do well, and you can become an administrator."
The puppet told her as the puppet’s female body collapsed on the ground. Seraphina immediately grabbed her weapon, and her eyes went to her restored inventory.
[Player Name: Seraphina Light (20)]
[Title: Survivor of a ruined world, One who can start anew, Prisoner of the system.]
[Skills: Star’s Boost, Flame Empress’s Resolution, Flaming Prison]
[Profession: The Paladin of Fire]
[Strength: 27]
[Speed: 16]
[Intellect: 26]
[Luck: 7]
"My profession and skills are back...but the level...it dropped so much?"
She questioned, and the puppet answered.
"Of course. You are participating in a new game, so the system adjusted your level accordingly. Think carefully about what you should do. As a player, your wishing powers are low. But the higher you climb the system’s ladder, the more these restrictions will waver."
"If you climb high enough, you will even be able to ask the system to restore your home and all the people you know."
The puppet seemed sincere when she spoke, but Seraphina did not feel like trusting anyone connected with the system was a good idea.
"Tsk, you speak as if you are talking from experience."
Seraphina’s words caused the puppet to pause for a moment. A tense silence hung in the air before the puppet spoke.
"Everyone involved with the system is a victim of it, and all of us have our reasons to become a part of the system’s administration. However, the thing I said about the system and its wish-granting is not a lie. It is up to you to decide whether you wish to take a chance or not. As for becoming a player...you no longer have a choice in that matter."
The puppet told Seraphina before the door closed behind her.
[You will be transported to Earth in 5 minutes. Please brace yourself for the game.]
The system warned Seraphina, and she felt a laugh escape her.
"Tsk, what arrogant people. They fall into their nightmare and then become a nightmare for others. But who am I to say anything about it when I am thinking of doing the same."
Seraphina calmed down and looked down at her system screen with blank eyes. She was well aware that she was a hypocrite.
But if there was even a small chance for everything to come back and become the way it used to be...then she wanted to take the chance.
"Everyone will come back. We will be able to live happily and without any danger. Surely...I am permitted that happiness?"
Guilt no longer had a place in her heart when she had a destination.
However, even she knew that she would waver as soon as she saw Andrew again. And that was why...
"I should be with him. That way, I would be able to brace myself and do what I need to."
