Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World-Chapter 154 - 155: A Chance Encounter with the Prince at Dinner
Chapter 154: Chapter 155: A Chance Encounter with the Prince at Dinner
After leaving the Eldest Prince’s Mansion, Pei Huaian asked, “Can Imperial Brother fully recover?”
“Impossible. His leg has necrotized over a long period and has lost all sensation. Apart from fitting a prosthetic limb, there is no other solution, and I’ve noticed that his emotions seem a bit off,” Shao He said, shaking her head firmly.
Although Pei Huaian knew this would be the outcome, he couldn’t help feeling somewhat lost. “Imperial Brother changed only after his leg injury; he wasn’t like this before.”
“If I’m not mistaken, it’s precisely because of his legs that he’s developed depression,” Shao He analyzed with a grave expression.
Upon hearing this, Pei Huaian’s mood fell, and he lowered his head, murmuring softly, “Initially, the enemy was targeting me, but Imperial Brother accidentally took the disaster in my stead.”
For many years, Imperial Brother’s leg had been his constant worry, plunging him into deep self-blame.
He had also tried to seek treatment from many renowned doctors, but the outcomes were never ideal.
Seeing this, Shao He comforted him, “You don’t need to blame yourself too much; what’s happened has happened, and no words will change it.”
“Yes,” Pei Huaian sighed. “That day’s battle was fiercely brutal. Both Imperial Brother and I were fortunate to survive, but his leg could never stand again.”
“Now there’s still a chance; your leg can stand again, so can his,” Shao He reassured him, patting his shoulder.
“Yes, there’s still a chance.” Pei Huaian smiled, looking up at Shao He.
“Of course.” Shao He nodded affirmatively and continued, “It just requires some time to recover, and the process might be quite hard.”
“Thank you,” Pei Huaian said, glancing at the current time and then suggesting sidelong, “It’s already midday. How about we dine together? You probably haven’t tried the dishes at the Capital City’s Fragrant Pavilion, have you? I will take you there to try something new.”
“Sure, let’s go,” Shao He agreed readily.
…
The Fragrant Pavilion was the most famous restaurant in the Capital City. Every evening, it hosted many prominent officials; its threshold was high enough to intimidate ordinary citizens. Only the wealthy and noble could afford to dine there.
The two of them took a private room on the second floor. They had just seated themselves when a servant boy came over and politely inquired, “What would you like to order, sirs?”
“Bring all your signature dishes,” Pei Huaian ordered indifferently.
“Certainly!” the servant boy replied, then turned and headed to the kitchen.
“I’ve heard that the signature dishes here aren’t cheap,” Shao He teased, raising an eyebrow.

Pei Huaian slightly curved his lips, “Don’t worry, I can afford it.”
Soon, the servant boy delivered all the dishes, covering the table with their aromatic fragrance, which tantalized Shao He’s appetite. She eagerly picked up her chopsticks and started eating.
The signature dishes indeed tasted excellent here, better than any others she had tried before, especially the fish soup, which was exceptionally delicious.
As they ate, they chatted about amusing people and events they had seen in the past, and their interaction was quite harmonious.
“Yo, isn’t that the Fifth Brother?” a familiar voice chimed in, Pei Chengye walking over with a teasing expression.
Two gentlemen followed him, and Pei Huaian explained sotto voce, “The one in the white brocade robe is the Fourth Prince, Pei Jingyi, and the other in the blue brocade robe is the Third Prince, Pei Haolan.”
Shao He glanced up only to see the Fourth Prince smiling, though his eyes were quite gloomy, which made her feel uneasy.
The Third Prince, however, appeared much more handsome with his fair complexion, and a slight smile in his eyes, although a closer observation would reveal that his gaze never left the food on the table.
“Why is Fifth Brother dining here today?” Fourth Prince Pei Jingyi sat down and asked with a light smile.
“Indeed, I didn’t expect Fifth Brother to decline my invitation simply to dine with the doctor,” Pei Chengye snorted coldly, seemingly dismissive of him’s presence.
“Please forgive me, Imperial Brother.”
Pei Chengye, faced with his mild demeanor, did not show any good expressions. Instead, he walked over, hand on his shoulder, and taunted, “Fifth Brother, with your lame leg, you can’t afford to roam about. Otherwise, if you injure something else…”
At this moment, however, Pei Huaian acted as though he heard nothing, his lips still wearing a faint smile, unaffected by Pei Chengye’s words.
It was as if everything happening before him was irrelevant, or rather, he simply disdained to pay attention.
“Imperial Brother, the chef here really cooks delicious meals. Would you like to try some?” Pei Huaian elegantly offered a dish from a small plate on the table, speaking methodically.
“Heh…” Pei Chengye scoffed contemptuously and then stood up straight, his gaze sweeping over every dish on the table and finally resting on Shao He.
“Since you like it, I will treat you to your fill some other day, but…” Pei Chengye said, his gaze fixated on Shao He, “it seems you and this Doctor Shao have a rather unusual relationship!”
“Doctor Shao is here to treat Eldest Imperial Brother. I merely invited her to the Fragrant Pavilion to dine as a token of my gratitude,” Pei Huaian replied, not wanting others to misunderstand Shao He, nor wanting her reputation to be sullied.
It didn’t matter much what happened to him, but he would not allow anyone to insult Shao He.
“Heh, as if she could treat the Eldest Imperial Brother, that’s just fanciful talk,” Pei Chengye sneered.
That the Crown Prince’s legs were beyond treatment was a universally accepted fact; nobody believed this woman could cure him.
