While Michael was busy dealing with all of the business in the Grafted Cluster, the Shadows of Reborn was busy dealing with all the behind-the-scenes stuff that was happening all around the Reborn territories.

Their job was to spread eyes on all the corners that the Reborn company had its hands on. They used their unique clone and shadow skills to have surveillance over every single thing that was happening in their visible world, whether they be insignificant gossip from neighbors or large bandit conspiracies that threatened to disrupt commerce on a large scale—they heard it all.

The Orcanine Orcs, with their specialties in offense, were given the more aggressive tasks during ninja missions. This included infiltrating foreign territories, surveilling persons of interests, etc.

The Orcupine Orcs, on the other hand, were tasked with protecting Rebornians and their assets from ne'er-do-wells with bad intentions.

Of course, that distinction wasn't that strict. After all, with the expansion of the Reborn company into different territories, the Shadows of Reborn eventually ended up needing more members to keep their surveillance in many places.

They recruited humans and demi-humans alike. As long as they had the talent for espionage, then they were allowed membership into this exclusive group. After all, there were some missions in which a spy was required, where one had to pretend to be a different identity in order to gain the trust of a group or a person.

These expanded members of the Shadows of Reborn all had their own groups and their own superiors, but they all took orders from the Orc Chieftains, Narito and Sasuki.

Those two Orcs ran the majority of the Shadows' day to day missions. All the major events that their spies and their shadows gathered throughout the day was filtered through their eyes and ears. Once they decide that it was important enough, then they would pass it on to the legendary ninja himself, Fudge.

"Boring…" Fudge muttered as Narito and Sasuki reported to him about the current affairs of the Reborn shadows.

Narito kneeled and slapped his own chest. "That is not all, boss Fudge. We have just received word that an individual named Hestu has made contact with Bulren, Barcus' twin brother."

Fudge raised his nonexistent eyebrows, intrigued. "Who is this Hestu?"

"Judging from the paperworks hidden in his carriage, we have ascertained that he is a major officer from the infamous company, Flarecorp," Sasuki reported.

"Hmm…Master will give me a pat once he hears about this," Fudge giggled. "Tell me more. What did they talk about? Did they finally realize that our Reborn company is superior?"

Narito and Sasuki looked at each other, both hesitating to talk. They seemed like they didn't want Fudge to hear what they had to say.

"Ummm…"

Fudge jumped out of his seat and landed in front of the two. "What is it? Are they planning on invading our territory or what?"

"No," Narito muttered. "This is what happened…"

The Orc Chieftains began to tell Fudge word for word about the events that transpired in Bulren's office.

And as soon as they finished their stories, they felt as if the whole room had gone cold. The already dark dungeon they were in became even darker, as if being swallowed by nothingness. The temperature dropped below freezing, making them feel the coldness of outer space.

"What." Fudge muttered, his cloak fluttering in the nonexistent wind. "What did they say about Reborn?" he asked again.

Narito and Sasuki kneeled respectfully. "They didn't know who we are, boss Fudge."

The violet slime shook his head. "No. What was that bastard's exact word?"

"In response to our company, Hestu said…who…'"

"hahahahaha," Fudge chuckled. "Who, he said? How funny. Isn't it funny?"

The two Orc Chieftains gulped. They knew things were getting serious whenever Fudge's slimy body became more and more spherical. And right now, he was a perfect ball. He was mad mad.

"Withdraw all our shadows," Fudge declared.

"Boss?! All of them?"

"You heard me. Starting from now on, we will be dedicating all our resources to finally answer that bastard's question.

Who are we, he asked? We are Reborn! WE SHALL MAKE HIM EXPERIENCE REBIRTH!"

Meanwhile, as the Reborn company reached its stride in conquering the Grafted Cluster, Bulren experienced more and more despair as the days passed.

Reborn's Golden Road sucked away all the potential profits that his company could make. Even their loyal customers were now choosing to travel the Golden Road and seek out more Reborn products themselves!

His main business was gathering earth minerals: mostly stone, quarts, and marble, which were primarily used for construction in the Grafted Cluster. Since he owned a majority of the mountains and the mines in the region, he was able to have a monopoly in the business which gave him free reign to set his own prices.

However, ever since the Reborn company introduced their miraculous 'cement', most people chose to construct their buildings using that material instead.

People were still using stones, but not as much as before. And because of that, Bulren had to lower his prices to its true market value.

This problem plagued him for days, causing a lot of lost sleep. Not to mention his own plummeting profits, he was also worried about what Flarecorp would do to him if he wasn't able to conquer the entirety of the region before their arrival.

His only chance was the promised support they would give him: Flarecorp products.

Thankfully for him, the first crates of Flarecorp products just arrived from Batchrock town.

About a hundred carriages landed on the center town of the Grafted Cluster, with each one being colored with the royal orange color that Flarecorp was associated with.

But before Bulren could open the crates, he was approached by one of the messengers who gave him an itemized list of all the products delivered, as well as the price indicated there.

"WHAT?!" Bulren shouted out loud. "Why does it cost this much?!"

The messenger shrugged. "That's normal," he said. "Transporting these goods here takes a lot of time and money. It's only natural."

If Bulren had to buy these products at such a high cost, then that meant that he would have to sell it at an even higher price just so that he could break even.

For example, Flarecorp salt, one of the most sought-after spices in the world, costs about a gold coin per pouch to sell.

But in comparison, the Reborn salt being sold on the Golden Road was about half that price!

No one was going to buy Flarecorp salt!

This only made Bulren realize how absurd and insane the Reborn company's ability was to transport products at such a low cost.

A daunting realization came to pass.

Bulren cannot compete with the Reborn company's commercial products. There was no way to beat them.

But he couldn't just give up. Flarecorp would punish him if he reneged on their deal. He would end up being conquered too!

So, he swallowed his pride and knocked on his next door neighbor, his brother Barcus.

"Brother, listen to me," Bulren said, walking into Barcus' office. "If we work together and unite our resources, we can defeat the Reborn company."

But Barcus didn't respond and just looked out his window in solemn contemplation.

"If you do this, then I will put in a good word for you in my meeting with the Flarecorp representative," Bulren said, pleading.

Barcus finally turned around. "You still think you can beat them?" the man asked, scoffing.
