Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 165: Kyle’s dilemma
"Are you invited to the ceremony?"
"Yes, my dad is our alpha’s friend, and he arranged the tickets."
"Well, all the alphas were given five extra tickets, but they are to bring their people at their expense. After all, it’s a highly sensitive security event. That’s why most of the alphas are not even allowing their families to attend."
Amelia sat beside the window, listening to the gossip of her classmates, which she was least interested in.
For five days, this has been her routine. She would come to the university, complete her lectures, and leave.
The experiments she used to love doing were no longer enticing enough. She didn’t feel like talking to anyone either, her mind going over and over about what that man, her father, said to Cyrus.
She was out of it for most of the conversation, but Cyrus told her everything. And to say she was surprised would be an understatement.
There was just so much that she had lost in her last life.
Her chance to unlock her wolf because she didn’t know how to accept her, her chance to meet her birth father and mother, a chance at true love, and whatnot.
She was going around people, sacrificing and yearning for the love of people who weren’t even her family.
The memories of all those nights she spent crying to be seen by her father, doing everything she could to get just a little appreciation from Thames.
Tears welled in her eyes that she quickly blinked back.
Without bothering with anyone, she stood from her place and walked out of the university.
"Hey, Amelia!" She heard a familiar voice calling from behind.
It was Derrick. However, she didn’t turn around. She didn’t want to.
She hailed a taxi and asked the driver to take her to the Peace Graveyard. Once there, she walked to the place where Scarlett, the woman who carried her for eight months in her womb, was buried, and a sigh escaped her lips.
She kneeled before her grave, bowing her head in respect.
"It would be disrespectful for me to abandon you after knowing you carried me in your womb for eight months to protect me. That you sacrificed your son and your own life to create that shield around me, which could’ve saved your son too," Amelia whispered, a tear rolling down her cheeks.
She lay beside the grave, placing her hand on it, humming softly.
"I have been calling you my mother for so long. Even if I didn’t see you, I always felt that I could feel your protection around me. Now I know why. You are my godmother. You are the gift the moon goddess bestowed on me to keep me alive." Amelia wiped her tears.
"I am sorry for cursing you those times when Thames used to bully me and say I am the reason you are dead. I am sorry for saying, Why didn’t you kill me when you died protecting me?" Amelia added, her heart clenching painfully in her chest.
As she spoke of her pain, Kyle, who stood at some distance, worried about her because he hadn’t seen her smile for so long; he felt his heart clenching at the sight.
He always saw her smiling at others, yet she was annoyed and vocal about everything. How come he never realized she was in so much pain?
He wanted to go to her, caress her back, and tell her everything was going to be alright, but after he annoyed her, he didn’t know if he was the right person for it.
He didn’t want to irritate her with his presence when she was already so broken.
And to say the next day was the crowning ceremony and also the day the Queen trials would commence.
She would have to fight for her position as Cyrus’s wife, when it should rightfully be hers. It hurt his heart to even think of her getting hurt at that game where so many trained alpha females would participate.
The worst thing was, he was her mate, but even after that, all he wanted was her happiness, even if it meant being with Cyrus.
"You should go to her," someone said, and Kyle turned to look at the person, his body going rigid in suspicion and self-defense.
"And who are you to suggest that? Do you know her? Or do you know me?" Kyle asked.
The man sighed.
"I know enough. I am someone who wishes he could comfort her like an elderly person and be there for her when she needed it the most," the man said.
"So you are the one, her father," Kyle said.
The man who had been looking at Amelia smiled before shaking his head.
"I am not her father, but I know my boss. I am the one who was told to look after her life, and to say it has been a bumpy ride for her would be an understatement. There were no highs, only lows; thus, even if the people around her, her so-called well-wishers, want to take her away from her mates, I want the opposite," the man said.
Kyle relaxed a little when he heard that the man wasn’t someone who wanted to harm him or, most importantly, her, but his relief was cut short as the words the man had spouted earlier sank in.
What did he say? The people around her didn’t want to take her away? Take her where? And why?
Kyle’s heart skipped a beat at the thought of losing Amelia even for a second. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"What do you mean they want to take her?" He asked.
The man looked at him for a brief second before smiling.
"You don’t know about everything, do you? The history is repeating itself, and to protect her, they would take any measure," the man said.
Kyle looked at the girl, who finally stood after pouring her emotions into the grave.
She wiped the remaining tears from her cheeks before turning around to hail a taxi.
No taxi was in sight, and Kyle took a deep breath.
"I might not know a thing about her, but I know one thing for sure. That she is mine, and no power in hell or heaven can take her away from me." Kyle looked at the man with persistent confidence before walking to the girl.
Amelia, who hadn’t expected to meet Kyle here, raised her brows.
"What are you—?" She started, but before she could complete her sentence, the man lifted her effortlessly before throwing her on his shoulders.
Amelia’s pupils dilated.
"Hey! What the hell are you doing?! What has gotten into you? Put me down. This is not right! Kyle!" Amelia shouted, but the man neither put her down nor slowed his pace.
"It’s high time you realize who you belong to, Amelia. I am not going to let anyone take you away from me. You are fucking mine, and if Cyrus wants you, he might as well learn to share because I am not losing my right over you," Kyle said.
Amelia’s heart skipped a beat at his choice of words.
What has gotten into him suddenly? Was he onto something for real? The queen trials were beginning tomorrow, and she would face the entire world.
What if someone caught her in this position with him? What would they think? She would be eliminated even before starting.
"Let me go, Kyle. You can’t do this. I am a person, not a toy that you own," Amelia started flailing her legs, beating Kyle’s back as hard as she could in that position.
The man scoffed, his voice dark, almost mimicking a snarl.
"Amelia, sweetheart, do you remember that day when you asked me if I drank blood? What did I tell you? I said, I do. So you better stop before I push you against that tree and give you a mark that your husband won’t like." Kyle’s warning worked like magic, as the girl immediately stopped moving.
Amelia clenched her fists on Kyle’s shirt, her ribs hurting from Kyle’s shoulders digging into her skin.
"Put me down and I’ll walk with you. You don’t need to take me like this. It’s hurting," Amelia said after some time.
Kyle thought for a while and then put her down slowly.
He took her to the bike and asked her to hop on so he could take her back to the palace.
Amelia hummed in understanding, knowing very well the man would never harm her. However, before climbing on it, she paused to look at him.
Her eyes lingered on his eyes for a few seconds, as if she was contemplating whether to say it or not, and after observing her for so long, Kyle immediately knew something was wrong.
"What’s wrong?" he asked.
Amelia bit her bottom lip.
"Tomorrow is my birthday. And I haven’t found out my wolf yet. So in that case, is there a way to specify whether you are my mate? I know about it only because you say so, but what about me?" Amelia asked.
Kyle looked at her for a few seconds before raising his brows.
"Tell me honestly, Amelia. You know something, don’t you?" He asked, making the girl look away.
