Reborn in the 80s: The Smart Wife with a Secret Space-Chapter 1076: Something Feels Off
As the sky just began to lighten, He Jinxuan brought Xinyan back to pick up the postpartum meals prepared by Sister Chen.
There was red date and millet porridge, boiled eggs, and a plate of stir-fried vegetables, all quite light.
Han Jingchen saw her sleeping soundly and couldn’t bear to wake her up. But while he was reluctant, his son didn’t care; with a pout of his little mouth, he started crying.
Han Chunxue quickly picked up the child to soothe him, but this time he hadn’t pooped or peed.
Su Aihong whispered, "He must be hungry."
Han Chunxue looked at her, "Elder Sister-in-law, we’ve already given him water twice, his stomach must be empty. We can’t fool him anymore. My Second Sister-in-law hasn’t eaten yet, so she probably won’t have milk soon. Let’s make some formula for the baby first."
Su Aihong looked at the still-crying little one and said tenderly, "Hold on, Auntie will make you some formula right away."
Han Jingchen had planned to get up to check on his son, but he heard Gu Wanqing waking up from bed, "Wife, how are you feeling? Is there any discomfort?"
Gu Wanqing shook her head, "No, don’t worry, I’m fine. I heard the baby crying."
Seeing her sister-in-law awake, Su Aihong smiled and said, "The baby has pooped everything out, he’s hungry now. You rest, I’ll make him some formula."
Just as she was speaking, Xinyan and He Jinxuan came in carrying the meals.
Han Jingchen looked at Gu Wanqing, "Are you hungry?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Gu Wanqing nodded, "I am a little hungry."
Thinking that after eating she might have milk, she felt sorry hearing her son cry.
Xinyan smiled and served a bowl of porridge, "Mom, the temperature is just right."
Han Jingchen, fearing she didn’t have the strength, supportively helped her sit up, placing a pillow behind her to make her more comfortable, "Do you want me to feed you?"
Embarrassed in front of so many people, Gu Wanqing replied, "No need, I can manage myself."
Xinyan then spoke up, "Mom, you’ve worked so hard and finally given birth, let Dad feed you."
With that, she really handed the bowl she was holding to Han Jingchen, "Dad, I got the opportunity to let you shine."
Han Jingchen smiled as he took it, "Our daughter is smart."
He then placed the peeled boiled egg and stir-fried vegetables on the bedside table before going to check on the baby, "Dad, Mom, have you decided on the baby’s name?"
Han Jingchen smiled, "Han Chaojun. Your mother and I hope he will be confident, assertive, and resilient so that he can be a strong support for you in the future."
As he spoke, he glanced at He Jinxuan standing outside the hospital room door.
He Jinxuan naturally understood the implication, but Father-in-law really worried too much; the person she cherished in her heart wouldn’t be mistreated.
While they were having a joyful conversation inside, a scream was heard outside, "Ah, my child! Ma Dake, where have you taken my child?"
The cry startled Little Chaojun, who was nursing, into tears.
Holding the baby, Han Chunxue gently reassured, "Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, Auntie has you."
He Jinxuan, standing outside, directly closed the hospital room door to block out the noise.
Xinyan quickly headed outside, thinking that if the person continued being so loud, she’d intervene. This was a maternity ward, full of infants who couldn’t handle such loud noises.
When she stepped out, she saw a woman pulling a man, "Da Qi, give me back our child, he’s our firstborn, how can you adopt him out?"
The people gathered around were astonished when they heard this, all looking at the man in disbelief at how someone could give up their first child like that, it seemed insane.
They heard the man say, "If it weren’t for my Big Brother saving me back then, I wouldn’t be alive now. I owe him this. We can have more children in the future, please fulfill my wish."
The woman kept shaking her head, "You can’t do this. I carried him for ten months; it’s you who owe your brother, so why do you have to repay him with my son?"
The man knelt down, "I was wrong not to discuss this with you in advance. I promise to treat you a thousand times better in the future, to make it up to you. Please trust me."
The woman seemed to have lost the strength to fight anymore and was being led back to the hospital room by the man. Xinyan stood there feeling something wasn’t right, but couldn’t put her finger on it.
She turned around to return to the hospital room and saw He Jinxuan still standing at the door, and with some concern said, "Jinxuan, there’s nothing much going on here anymore. It’s not convenient for you to be going in and out of the ward. The hallway is quite cold, why not head back first? I’ll call if there’s anything."
But He Jinxuan didn’t agree, "I’d better stay. I heard from the nurse that even with a natural birth, you need to stay in the hospital for a day or two for observation. Aunt and Auntie have to work and can’t stay here all the time. I’ll wait outside, just in case you need an extra hand."
