Chapter 94: TAKING OUT THE TRASH II

Ava sucked in a sharp breath, wincing as she wiped the blood from her split lips. She frowned at the stain in her hand before looking at Matilda who was the least concerned about the injury.

"You!" Matilda sneered with venom in her voice. "I should’ve known from the start! You’re nothing but a pathetic snake! This was your plan all along, wasn’t it?!"

Ava clenched her fists as Matilda turned sharply to Gaulin. "I warned you, didn’t I? I told you time and again that she doesn’t belong here, but you wouldn’t listen! And now look at what she’s done—manipulated your father into signing legal guardianship over to her. And to top it all, she even had the audacity to throw us out of the hospital yesterday!"

Ava’s vision blurred with rage. The metallic tang of blood still lingered in her mouth, and she could feel the sting where Matilda’s rings had cut her skin. But she couldn’t act irrationally.

"I didn’t manipulate grandfather."

SMACK!

Ava’s head snapped to the side. A sharp burn spread across her cheeks where Matilda’s palm had landed.

"Shut your mouth!" She shrieked. "How dare you talk back after everything you’ve done?!"

Jerome chuckled mockingly as he stood up from his seat and sauntered toward them. "And she’s still standing," he mused. "What a shame. I thought by now she’d know her place."

Without warning, he kicked the back of Ava’s legs. A gasp tore from her throat as her knees hit the floor with a thud. To bite back a cry from the pain, she gritted her teeth.

She pressed her palms against the cold marble to steady herself, swallowing the pain.

Noah scoffed. "It doesn’t surprise me that you tricked an old man into signing that document, but what I don’t understand is what gave you the right to humiliate Mother, Father, and Sasha? You even threw them out of grandfather’s room like common strangers!"

Ava didn’t look up. Her chest rose and fell. She’d never been this annoyed before, but instead of glaring, she wiped the blood on her lips with the back of her hand.

Jerome crouched beside her and yanked her head up. "Hey," he whispered against her cheeks. "When you’re spoken to, you answer, you little mutt!" He shoved her roughly, and her head snapped back.

Gaulin sighed loudly, rubbing his temples before leaning back in his chair. "Enough of this," he muttered. "Let’s stop wasting time on emotions and get to the point."

Everyone turned to him, surprised by his nonchalance. He’d been very angry since yesterday that he didn’t even have a proper sleep last night.

"I don’t care what tricks you used to get my father’s signature on that document, Ava, but you will revoke that document. And you’re going to do it now." He flicked a glance at Noah. "Get the POA."

Noah immediately pulled a crisp document from his file folder, and placed it on the desk along side a pen.

"Come here and sign it," Gaulin ordered.

Ava lifted her head slowly, and stared at Gaulin. Then, slowly, her lips curled into an amusing smirk.

"Noah..."

"Yes, father..." Noah pushed the document forward.

"And while you’re at it," he continued, "the maids have already packed up everything you brought into this house, and generously, all the other things you’ve come to acquire being here. You’re leaving this household for good. I’ve had enough of your insolence, and there’s only so much I can take."

Matilda’s face lit up immediately at her husband’s words. Jerome and Noah too had never been more proud of their father for the decision.

Ava fought the urge to scoff. She was the least surprised by his words. They’d been looking for ways to get rid of her and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Her fingers trembled. She could feel her pulse pounding in her ears, and also taste the lingering blood on her tongue—her own blood.

"You want me to revoke it?" She asked calmly.

"Are you seriously asking that?" Jerome wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Do you think you’ll get away with manipulating grandfather?"

Ava inhaled sharply, then exhaled. "I didn’t manipulate grandfather," she said quietly. "He willingly made me his legal guardian."

"You’re still lying, you ungrateful parasite?!" Matilda shrieked, pointing a finger at her. "Everything you have, we gave you! And this is how you repay us?!" She had the urge to slap Ava once more, but she held herself back when she thought of what Gaulin said earlier.

Ava exhaled, and slowly pushed herself to her feet. With delibrate slowness, she wiped her lips with the back of her hand once more.

She looked at Gaulin directly. "I’m not doing it."

A stunned silence fell over the room.

"What did you just say?" Gaulin’s face hardened.

"I said I’m not doing it." She pointed to the document on the table. "I’m not signing that." Her eyes flicked to every single person in the room nonchalantly.

"Since no one is listening when I say I didn’t manipulate grandfather into signing the document, I’m not going to bother with explaining myself anymore. Whether or not I played tricks on grandfather, I’m still his legal guardian."

"You little piece of shit!" Matilda barked angrily. "You’re finally showing your true colors."

Ava smiled softly at her words. "Grandfather and I both signed that document. You can’t revoke it without his consent."

Gaulin slammed his hand on the desk so hard that the objects on it rattled. "Enough of this nonsense! You will sign the goddamn paper, and I will handle my father’s signature."

"No." Ava lifted her chin. "You want me gone so badly? Fine. I’ll leave. But I will not sign that document."

Matilda let out a breathless laugh. "You won’t do it?"

"I won’t."

Jerome’s fingers twitched. "Are you challenging Father?!"

Ava looked at him mockingly. "Am I not supposed to? When all he’s been doing since I got here is spew nonsen—"

She never saw the hit coming.

Jerome’s hand struck her face with such brutal force that she barely registered the impact before she was falling. The pain shot through her skull, and her vision exploded with white-hot pain as she crashed to the floor.

For a moment, everything spun. Her ears rang so loudly that every other sound in the room became eerily silent. There was no time to react or even regain her senses before Jerome grabbed a fistful of her hair and pulled her to her feet.

Ava gasped and bit her lips to stop herself from crying out. Her fingers clawed at his wrist to pry away his hands, but it did little to save her from the torture since Jerome was stronger than her.

Everyone watched happily as she struggled against Jerome, including Gaulin who now had a little smile on his face.

"Throw her out, son," he said coldly. "She’s no longer welcomed here." He inhaled deeply, then exhaled mockingly. "It would have been surprising if she didn’t throw a tantrum like this, but don’t worry—" he smirked, "We’ll settle this in court."

Jerome nodded without hesitation and dragged Ava out of the room.

Matilda and Noah followed behind them.

"Let me go! You’re hurting me!" Ava’s desperate voice rang through the mansion. She thrashed against Jerome’s hold as she tried to free herself, but he only yanked her harder.

The commotion drew everyone’s attention.

Maids peeked from the hallways, covering their mouths to stop them from making any sound. Sasha stood by the staircase with a bold smile on her face. Even Fiddlestick stood appalled by the side, watching her pitifully.

But no one moved to help her.

Because no one dared to interfere.

It was an internal situation after all.

"What is this? Are they throwing Miss Ava out of the house?" One of the younger maids whispered with shock.

"Isn’t it obvious?" another muttered back. "Why else do you think Miss Sasha personally ordered us to dump her belongings outside?"

A third maid hesitated before speaking. "I always knew this day was going to come. There have never been a peaceful day since Miss Ava got to this mansion."

"Poor girl..." They all stared at her pitifully.

Jerome finally dragged her to the entrance of the mansion where all her belongings were scattered outside, without even properly packed.

Ava winced in pain as her buttocks collided with the harsh gravel. Some particles of the gravel pierced into her palm, but she barely noticed the sting.

Ava hit the ground hard. The rough gravel tore into her palms and knees, sending a sharp pain through her body. She shivered from the sting and the feel of the blood from the cut, despite the warmth of the afternoon’s sun on her skin.

From the top of the stairs, Sasha burst into uncontrollable laughter. The laughter was so intense that she covered her mouth and shook her head in delight.

"Oh, this is priceless!" She continued laughing as if she couldn’t get enough of Ava’s confused and battered face as she sat on the harsh floor.
