Chapter 195: Joining her for the bath?

Ella had never thought that she was the girl who would want flowers. Get her food, maybe?

But as she glanced at the sea of tulips in the room, the undeniable flutter in her chest told her that she liked flowers too. She just hadn’t received one to know whether she liked them or not.

When her gaze passed by the bedside table, she spotted a delicately wrapped box of chocolates. She picked up the box, instantly recognizing the diet-friendly chocolates, just like the time before.

Just as she put the box down, a voice broke the silence. Low and familiar.

"You don’t like them?"

Ella turned on her heels, her heart skipping a beat when she spotted Adrian sitting on the couch.

He closed his laptop and pushed himself to his feet.

Ella schooled her expression and flashed a harmless smile. "They’re beautiful, baby. But next time, just a few will do..."

"Why?" Adrian stepped forward, closing the space between them.

Suddenly towered over by him, Ella did not know what to do, whether to back out or stand still.

She cleared her throat, "It’s such a waste. They are beautiful but I’d rather not throw them away when they dry up the next day."

Adrian remained silent as if he was reflecting upon it.

Ella inched closer to him, "If you want to get me flowers, try getting me one that doesn’t wilt," She winked at him challengingly.

Adrian arched a brow, "Alright."

She shrugged it off, unaware of the promise hidden in that simple word. She looked at him curiously, "Why the flowers?"

"I need reasons?"

"No, you don’t need reasons to get me flowers. But, do you have one?" Ella remembered that the last time he got her flowers was during the Imperial University fiasco.

And for some reason, she believed this time’s flowers were because—

"Congratulations."

The moment he said the word, her doubts were confirmed. He knew about her deal with ’Lilac’."Are you getting me followed by your people?"

Ella had not noticed anyone’s presence but again, she was not trained in martial arts or anything as such. Adrian’s people were all experts so if they were to follow her discreetly, she would not know.

Adrian did not say a word.

Ella’s heart sank.

As she took a step back, the distance between them increased. However before she could retreat another step, Adrian grabbed her wrist and pulled her in, closing the gap between them.

Ella moved her wrist, trying to get it out of his grip. But his grip was firm.

"I told you I don’t need to be constantly monitored. I am not running away..."

"I am not monitoring you. You are my wife and I want to protect you."

Ella was stunned.

Adrian’s brows tugged together. When she did not say a word, his lips pursed.

"Really?" Ella glanced at her hand that was being held firmly by him.

Adrian’s jaw clenched but he eventually released his grip on her as he nodded.

"You were not getting someone to follow me because you thought I would run away?"

A beat passed. Adrian shook his head.

"Then..." A teasing glint flickered in Ella’s eyes, "Do you trust me enough to know that I am not planning to run away?"

Adrian paused.

"You can answer me honestly.

He shook his head, his face impassive.

Ella: "_"

She rolled her eyes and turned to walk away.

In the next moment, her feet were swept off the floor.

"Ahh..."

Ella shrieked as Adrian yanked her into his arms, picking her up in a princess carry as he headed towards the bed.

"Wait... Wait...!" Ella swung her legs, "I need to take a bath."

His footsteps halted but he did not put her down. If reluctance had a face, that would resemble Adrian’s.

"Put me down," she protested. Westra City was lightly humid, unlike the cool Vermilion City. After a day of running around, she probably smelled awful.

Adrian held her tighter, showing no intentions to put her down.

"_" Hello? Sir? Don’t you have OCD?

"I feel dirty right now..." Ella mumbled helplessly, lightly swaying her legs.

Adrian paused and met her gaze, a twinkle flickered in his eyes, "I can... clean you up."

Her mind short-circuited. A second later, her cheeks exploded in red.

Ella’s mind blanked out. After a few seconds, red rose to her cheeks.

After a few seconds, he let out a soft sigh and placed her down on the floor.

Ella was briefly surprised but then she kicked off her heels and walked towards the bathroom. With her hand resting on the doorknob, she turned to him, "Do you want to join me?"

Adrian stiffened.

Ella did not wait for his response as she entered the bathroom.

As warm water filled the tub, Ella stood in front of the mirror, stripping herself to her last piece of clothing.

Ella stepped out of her panties. Her toes had just grazed over the water when she heard the door open.

Panicking, Ella dipped into the water until only her head peeked out.

After a few minutes, Ella did not sense a single movement in the large bathroom.

The silence tricked her. But when her gaze snapped to the door... her eyes locked in with a pair of smoldering onyx ones.
