Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 250 I Feel Like I’m Dying
Chapter 250: Chapter 250 I Feel Like I’m Dying
Li Huan’s lips twitched at Chen Jin’s words, and he quickened his pace toward the sound.
Lin Zhiyi was directing Gong Chen, who was dressed in a suit, in digging holes and planting seeds.
When she saw Li Huan, she waved and smiled, "Doctor Li, you’ve come."
Gong Chen still held a shovel, and his dress pants were smeared with quite a bit of dirt, looking somewhat... incongruent.
But it did not diminish the Third Young Master’s dignity.
His face looked rather unwell, "Li Huanhuan, put away your phone. Dare to take a photo, and you won’t leave here alive."
Li Huan grinned and quickly pocketed his phone.
Then, remembering Gong Chen’s injury, he hurriedly cautioned, "Don’t overexert yourself, your..."
Gong Chen’s gaze turned sharply menacing.
Li Huan quickly corrected himself, "I mean, Miss Lin just suffered from gas poisoning yesterday; she shouldn’t overexert herself."
Nearby, Lin Zhiyi, unaware of their exchange, patted the dirt off herself.
"I’m fine."
"You should still get checked again. Just in time, you both can take a break too."
Li Huan quickly found an excuse. He wasn’t worried about Lin Zhiyi’s condition, but Gong Chen was recovering from a gunshot wound.
And here he was, digging in the dirt, an act nearly as flamboyant as a peony underscoring a defiant death.
"Alright."
Lin Zhiyi turned and stuffed the tools into Gong Chen’s hands, and followed Li Huan towards the house.
Gong Chen looked at the tools in his hands, his lips barely perceptibly curling up.
"Chen Jin, remember to stuff some vegetables in the soil for her in spring, otherwise she’ll surely complain for a long time."
"Spring... okay."
Chen Jin, seeing Gong Chen this relaxed, immediately nodded in agreement.
...
Inside the room.
Li Huan gave Lin Zhiyi a quick check-up.
"It’s nothing serious now, you..." He glanced at the door to make sure no one was there before asking, "Are you still taking your previous medication?"
"I’ve finished it," Lin Zhiyi said nonchalantly.
"How are you feeling now?" asked Li Huan.
"Not bad."
Lin Zhiyi drew a piece of paper to wipe her wrist.
Hearing this, Li Huan was slightly relieved.
But the next second, he froze.
In just that moment, Lin Zhiyi’s front was piled with tissues; although her hands were already clean, she kept wiping them.
Wiping until the back and palm of her hand were all red.
Li Huan reached out to stop her, "Still like this? But you were clearly... very happy just now with him."
Lin Zhiyi gave a bitter smile, "Does my happiness really matter? If he’s satisfied, that’s all that’s needed, isn’t it my duty?"
"No!" Li Huan immediately contradicted, persuading, "Lin Zhiyi, don’t be so pessimistic, give him some time, he will definitely sort things out."
"Li Huan, I feel like I’m about to die."
Lin Zhiyi’s face was pale, her eyes pleading as she looked at Li Huan.
Li Huan’s heart ached, but considering the dangers outside, he suppressed what he really wanted to say and consoled, "Lin Zhiyi, everything will pass soon."
"I knew you’d say that." Lin Zhiyi gave a light laugh, "Li Huan, I’m not asking you to help me, but Doctor Li, seeing that I’m a patient, if one day you can save me, please do help me."
Doctor Li, that address struck a chord in Li Huan, preventing him from ignoring the pain in her eyes.
"Okay."
"Thank you." Lin Zhiyi smiled wistfully.
Moments later, Gong Chen entered in a clean set of clothes.
"How is it?"
"It’s nothing serious, just some nausea and the urge to vomit, just needs some good rest," Li Huan feigned a relaxed smile.
Gong Chen moved to embrace Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi immediately stood up, "You’ve just changed, I haven’t yet. I’ll go change, and then how about you stay, and we have dinner together, I’ll cook."
"He already has food," Gong Chen’s expression darkened.
Li Huan snapped his medical kit shut, clicking his tongue, "Hey! Eating a meal isn’t going to bankrupt you, and I insist on eating."
Lin Zhiyi covered her mouth, chuckling lightly, "I’ll leave you two to chat, I’ll call you later."
Once she was gone, Gong Chen’s face turned cold instantly.
"How is she really?"
"You really can’t be deceived," Li Huan sighed, his words half-truth, "Her body is fine, but with you intimidating her like this, she’s definitely uncomfortable inside, don’t pressure her anymore."
"Hmm."
"That’s it... Hmm? You’re agreeable like this now?"
Li Huan had prepared quite a few excuses.
Gong Chen spoke in a low voice, "Cut the crap, what else?"
In a flash, Li Huan had put on gloves, and said seriously, "What’s left is... lie down quickly so I can change your dressing."
Gong Chen didn’t speak and just lay down directly.
Li Huan quickly changed the dressing, and warned, "Don’t mess around anymore, or it’ll split open again."
"Okay."
Gong Chen sat up, leisurely fastening three buttons.
With his shirt slightly open and revealing his chest, even with injuries, the tightness of his muscles subtly conveyed a sense of beauty and strength.
He lit a cigarette, and as the smoke swirled from his lips, his voice carried a hint of haziness.
"Is she really okay?"
"She’s fine." Li Huan paused while taking off his gloves, and changed the subject, "Aren’t you going to see her soon?"
Gong Chen stubbed out the cigarette and walked out of the room.
...
Kitchen.
Lin Zhiyi was completely focused on chopping vegetables, not noticing Gong Chen leaning against the door frame.
Gong Chen silently watched her.
Though wearing an apron, the shirt underneath Lin Zhiyi’s was quite form-fitting.
So from the back, the belt tied at her lower waist accentuated her slender waist-to-hip ratio.
Even the most ordinary movements, combined with her face, added a touch of seduction.
A man’s imagination made Gong Chen’s gaze burn intensely.
He always felt that he and Lin Zhiyi had done something here.
In his mind, she was wearing an apron, her hair a mess, her fingers dug deeply into his back, and her moans were in his ears.
That image... Gong Chen felt dirty for the first time.
Before he could calm down, his hands, following the memories in his mind, rested on Lin Zhiyi’s shoulders.
Lin Zhiyi was startled, shaking the knife in her hand, "Third Young Master, what are you doing?"
"Thinking of murdering your own husband?" Gong Chen blurted out.
Suddenly, the kitchen fell silent.
Lin Zhiyi did not argue vehemently like before.
She lowered her gaze, staring at the half-chopped potato straws.
Softly, she said, "You’re not."
But soon, he would be someone else’s husband.
Gong Chen did not deny it, almost affirming Lin Zhiyi’s words.
During those silent seconds, Lin Zhiyi’s knife slipped, but she still pretended not to care and continued chopping.
Suddenly, the man behind her took the knife from her hand.
"Turning potato straws into potato chunks?"
"Complain and do it yourself."
Lin Zhiyi turned around irritably to face him.
What met her eyes, however, was his partly opened shirt, his exposed muscles taut and powerful, the black shirt connected to his trousers outlining a tense figure.
For a moment, Lin Zhiyi didn’t know where to look, only feeling the scorching aura from the man overwhelming her and warming her cheeks.
She panicked and tried to flee, but her body was lifted and placed on the countertop.
Gong Chen leaned in, his gaze as deep as the ocean, and the faint scent of tobacco from his breath brushed her face, causing a tingling sensation.
Lin Zhiyi hadn’t yet recovered when he kissed her, his hand roaming.
One hand held her waist, the other moved along the apron...
This scene instantly reminded Lin Zhiyi of some past life fragments.
It was also in the kitchen.
Lin Zhiyi’s cheeks immediately turned bright red, and she hurriedly held down his hand under her apron.
Gong Chen swept over her flushed cheeks, smiling but not quite, "Didn’t expect you to have such a dirty imagination too."
"Too?" Lin Zhiyi looked at him skeptically.
...
Gong Chen’s face momentarily showed an unnatural expression.
...
Dining room.
Li Huan took out two packs of snacks from her bag and threw one to Chen Jin.
While eating, she chattered, "Assistant Chen, you think this meal won’t turn into supper, will it?"
Chen Jin replied seriously, "If it really does, with Third Young Master’s ability, it would probably turn into breakfast."
Li Huan gave a hollow laugh, you didn’t actually need to answer.
