Reborn with Consumption System-Chapter 591 - 263 God Lie, You Are So Cool!
On Saturday morning, Liu Minghao and Dou Mingde arrived at Han Lie's suite with a pile of documents.
As they took in the elegant and luxurious presidential suite, the two older men clicked their tongues in amazement.
"The company only fronted a few million. How much did you actually put in yourself? Damn, this is extravagant!"
"Teacher Han has a strategy for his spending; he knows how to earn it and isn't afraid to spend it."
You might not believe this if I told you, but I didn't actually spend a single damn cent...
Han Lie smiled without a word, guided them to sit in the office area, and then began to review Gao Diaomao's files.
The information Dou Mingde provided focused on the Gao Family's background and connections.
He had certainly been capable enough to acquire the land for the textile factory back in the day.
However, times had changed. The older generation had retreated from the historical stage, and the new generation disliked dealing with such tainted businessmen. Consequently, his backing existed in name only.
As for his network, there was no need for an overly deep analysis.
These were mostly just some "friends" in district-level administrative departments. To use Dou Mingde's own words:
"When it's nothing serious, they eat and drink together, help with minor favors that require no real effort. That's typical of a businessman's 'friends.' But when a critical juncture arrives, who really cares about whom?"
Liu Minghao nodded in agreement. "Gao Diaomao's community of shared interests primarily consists of the four major shareholders of Gao Yuan Real Estate."
The documents were spread out, each with a detailed introduction.
Gao Diaomao and his wife controlled 38.5%.
A Mr. Lin held 18% but never involved himself in business operations and rarely exercised his voting rights.
A Mr. Zhang held 13.5% and also served as the company's Executive Vice President, overseeing construction and production.
A Mr. Hu held 12.2% and was in charge of marketing, advertising, and public relations.
A mysterious company held 6% and wasn't involved in management at all.
The finance manager, Gao Diaomao's brother-in-law, held 0.8%.
The final 11% was held by a Hong Kong-funded company.
Liu Minghao tapped on the documents for the Hong Kong-funded company. "Look familiar?" he asked Han Lie with a smile.
Familiar indeed! Han Lie thought. It was remarkably similar to his own Phoenix Holdings—a subsidiary company registered in the BVI.
Liu Minghao pulled out a few more papers. "This company was brought in around August 2009. Gao Diaomao and the other shareholders collaborated to oust a previously formidable second-largest shareholder who had since completely collapsed. The Gao Family's portion of those shares was then sold to this Hong Kong-funded company.
The given pretext was that this arrangement would allow them to legally avoid a 5% tax and would also be beneficial for land acquisition.
But I had some friends investigate thoroughly. It turns out its de facto controller is likely Gao Diaomao's son, Gao Shen.
What's peculiar, though, is that this Hong Kong company is currently in the process of transferring shares externally. I can't figure out why they'd need to do that..."
A thrill of realization shot through Han Lie.
I've got you now! This is your Achilles' heel!
He's transferring assets in preparation for a divorce!
38.5% + 11% + 0.8% = 50.3%
The Gao Family had quietly secured absolute majority control over Gao Yuan Real Estate; the other shareholders may or may not have been aware.
However, few people realized that the 11% stake Gao Shen had acquired was, by its nature, joint marital property accumulated during their marriage!
This was because, in the early days of his marriage to Bai Yuqiu, Gao Shen was utterly infatuated with her. He had constantly defied his family over her and had never signed any prenuptial agreement or declaration of separate property.
Gao Diaomao and his wife had never respected Bai Yuqiu. They believed they could easily manage their daughter-in-law, so they begrudgingly tolerated the situation.
That explained why Bai Yuqiu had access to the family's property deeds.
And that was also why Gao Shen, now finally wanting a divorce, was trying every conceivable method to liquidate the assets of his own companies.
Mingda Trading, which Gao Shen had built up with his family's backing, the shares he held in Gao Yuan Real Estate and Yuanfang Apparel, plus the luxury home they currently lived in—Bai Yuqiu had a rightful, legal claim to a portion of all of it!
Gao Diaomao and his wife hadn't misjudged Bai Yuqiu. Aside from her provocative allure, she genuinely lacked any business acumen or personal capabilities that would warrant caution.
She was never a particularly scheming woman.
A knack for double entendres doesn't equate to outstanding Intelligence, does it?
Among the Bai sisters, the truly intelligent ones were the second and third, their Intelligence increasing in that order.
But the problem was... she was incredibly lucky!
Her first extramarital affair was with a master tactician. He was fantastic in bed, knew countless techniques, and it seemed heaven-ordained that her fortunes were about to dramatically improve.
Han Lie closed the file. "Let's try a different approach, Brother Liu."
Liu Minghao looked up, puzzled.
Han Lie pulled out the top family profile and circled Bai Yuqiu's name.
"Gao Shen's actions are clearly transferring family assets," Han Lie stated. "Go gather evidence. Find out if that's truly what's happening and how far it's progressed. I'll go have a word with this Ms. Bai!"
HISS...
Liu Minghao and Dou Mingde exchanged bewildered glances. Their young associate's approach was simply too audacious. This kid's a goddamn maverick!
"If we can win her over to our side, that would naturally be for the best."
Liu Minghao chose his words carefully, voicing his concerns with considerable tact.
"But... that sounds incredibly difficult, doesn't it? How do you plan to even approach her? And what makes you think you can gain her trust? We are, after all, scheming against her husband!"
Dou Mingde winced, his lips pursing.
"Bai Yuqiu is thirty-one. She and Gao Shen were university classmates, dated for ten years, and have been married for seven. She even worked as an HR manager at Mingda Trading... Little Han, a woman of her age is typically very mature and extremely wary of strangers. She won't be easy to handle...
You're not thinking of trying some kind of honey trap, are you?
AHEM. It's not that I doubt your capabilities, mind you. I just feel that... well, aren't you a bit... young for her taste? Or perhaps not her type?
We mustn't risk tipping them off prematurely..."
