Reborn with Consumption System-Chapter 613 - 271: Making an Appearance
Han Lie was mentally keeping track of the time. About five minutes. He would then promptly conclude and step down from the stage. Today wasn't his spotlight; he needed to be measured.
In essence, Teacher Han had only briefly covered a few major forms of real estate asset securitization, along with their pros and cons compared to traditional financing methods.
The advantage was simple: it could bypass banks' lending restrictions on real estate enterprises. The disadvantage was even simpler: it was expensive. And it wasn't just ordinarily expensive. It cost at least three times as much as issuing bonds, twice as much as bank loans, and sometimes even more than short-term bridge loans.
But when faced with a choice between survival and expense, any normal person would choose survival.
So, as soon as Han Lie stepped down, these "normal people" swarmed him, making him the brightest star of the event.
There were so many people that they could only hurriedly exchange business cards and chat briefly to get acquainted before moving on. Lingering longer would have been disrespectful to the others waiting.
Business? He wasn't taking any. Han Lie was clear-headed. He didn't limit himself to being a mere middleman, competing for scraps with the major securities firms and trust companies present.
ABS and REITs-like projects weren't mysterious. Too many companies could handle them, so they weren't worth a significant investment of his energy.
In fact, starting this year, related methods would soon proliferate, becoming a major source of profit for the asset management departments of securities firms and for fund subsidiaries.
He had no intention of wasting any more time earning paltry intermediary fees. So, whenever he encountered a company in need, he directly referred them to Tang Xintian and Lü Shuli.
Both women were sufficiently familiar with the procedures. One was backed by SPD Bank and the other by a Red Circle Firm; their ability to secure business was top-notch at this point in time.
And if they really couldn't handle it… wasn't there still me, their old man?
Thus, Han Lie painstakingly dealt with wave after wave of real estate developers.
Then, he finally heard a name he had long been waiting for—
"Teacher Han, hello. My name is Gao Yijun. I run a modest real estate company. Might I exchange business cards with you?"
"Hello, President Gao. You're too kind," Han Lie replied, offering a light, indifferent handshake. He was neither proactive nor overly enthusiastic, yet showed no coldness or hostility—just as with the others.
However, as they exchanged business cards, Han Lie took a moment to observe him intently.
Gao Diaomao appeared to be around fifty, his hair, likely dyed, was a thick, youthful black.
The man didn't look sleazy at all. On the contrary, when he smiled, his eyebrows curved gently downwards, and his eyes narrowed into crescents, giving him a very soft demeanor.
He spoke politely, his tone unhurried, his overall bearing quite refined.
If one didn't already know this man had built his fortune by sacrificing the livelihoods of thousands of workers, who could imagine that this person, looking like a university scholar, was actually an old Diaomao?
Han Lie instantly realized—this man would be tough to deal with.
So, with another light handshake and a nod, Han Lie gave him no further opportunity to speak before excusing himself.
"I'm sorry, President Gao, but I have a friend I need to see."
The young man standing behind Gao Yijun was about to speak, but Gao Diaomao chuckled, pocketed the business card, and said, "Of course, please go ahead. We'll find another opportunity to consult you in person."
As Han Lie turned and walked away, the young man—who was reasonably handsome—hesitantly asked, "Dad, why…?"
"Don't be hasty." Gao Diaomao waved his hand, his gaze fixed on Han Lie's retreating figure. He added calmly, "What good does rushing do? Rushing only leads to mistakes."
Gao Shen subconsciously curled his lips.
He muttered, "Any company here is bigger than ours, yet you're so composed. Once their schedules are full with business from others, I'd like to see what you'll do then!"
"What kind of business can you really discuss in a setting like this?" Gao Diaomao turned to look for Gu Yong. Spotting him, he smiled confidently.
"In the next day or two, I'll have President Gu invite him out separately. We'll have a couple of drinks, arrange some entertainment—that's when you discuss real business."
Just as he was about to head towards Gu Yong, Gao Diaomao suddenly paused and turned to his son. "Oh, right. Bring your wife along. And remember to be humble, not arrogant and showy!"
"What?" Gao Shen's expression turned grim. "Bring her? Have we stooped that low? Don't you get any ideas about my wife…"
"Idiot! What kind of nonsense is rattling around in that head of yours?!" Gao Diaomao cursed furiously. This unfilial son, what kind of person does he take me for?!
"I meant, have your wife bring her sister along. See if she can befriend Han Lie. Even if there are no sparks, she can at least liven things up…"
Gao Shen eyed his father skeptically. "Really?"
Gao Diaomao was so exasperated his temples throbbed with pain.
"Look at your pathetic self! Treating that barren hen like some treasure! Han Lie is twenty, and your damn wife is thirty-one—they're not even from the same generation! If they really ended up in bed together, who do you think would be taking advantage of whom?
"Open your eyes! Does Teacher Han look like he's short on beautiful women? Which one of them isn't more graceful than your Xiaobai?!
"Damn it, just get a divorce already!
"If you can't produce a grandson for me within two years, I'll personally give you a younger brother!"
Gao Shen, thoroughly berated, was no longer worried about his wife, but he remained deeply discontented.
Those two sisters-in-law… Damn, I'm craving them too!
But he didn't dare argue back.
He knew his father all too well. When his father was younger, he truly wouldn't hesitate to beat him…
Now, although he no longer resorted to physical violence, he still cherished his authority, ruling the household with an iron fist. He wouldn't tolerate any defiance.
Whatever. I'll have to discuss it with my wife when I get back…
Sigh, she definitely won't agree. How am I supposed to coax her?
This is so fucking annoying!
...
Han Lie didn't actually have any friends to meet; it was just an excuse to leave. He hadn't walked far before Liu Minghao indeed pulled him into a nearby lounge area.
