Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 415: Unwanted Wife (3)
Stella dropped the mixing bowl she held in the kitchen when she heard Ayla scream. The sound echoed through the house, causing Stella’s heart to race with concern. She rushed towards the scream’s source, fearing something terrible had happened to Ayla.
She found her daughter-in-law curled on the floor with her water broken. Stella immediately knelt beside Ayla, her mind racing with worry and adrenaline. She reassured her daughter-in-law that everything would be okay and quickly called for an ambulance to ensure both Ayla’s and the baby’s safety.
It wasn’t time for Ayla to give birth yet. Stella knew that Ayla’s premature labor could pose potential risks for both her and the baby. She tried to remain calm, reminding herself that panicking wouldn’t help Ayla at all.
"It hurts." Ayla whimpered as she held her bulging stomach. She woke up that afternoon with a sharp pain in her lower abdomen, and it had only intensified since then. Stella gently rubbed Ayla’s back, offering words of comfort and encouragement.
"Hang on, Ayla. The ambulance is already on its way." She reassured her daughter-in-law.
The ambulance eventually arrived, and Ayla rushed to the hospital. Since her water broke, the doctors knew that she was in labor and immediately rushed her into the delivery room. Stella stayed outside to inform the rest of the family about Ayla’s condition.
Her husband arrived in half an hour, but Stella was disappointed Alistair didn’t come with him. His wife was already in labor, but he was still nowhere in sight. She couldn’t help but be upset with her stepson.
"Is he planning to show up at all?" Stella thought to herself. She knew Alistair had always been unreliable, but she hoped he would at least be there for his wife’s delivery.
After another hour of waiting, Alistair finally arrived. Unlike any other new father she had seen, he seemed completely unfazed by the situation. Stella couldn’t help but feel a mix of relief and frustration.
"How’s the child?" Alistair asked. He was dressed in a dark business suit, which seemed out of place in the hospital room. Stella couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his lack of consideration for the momentous occasion.
She smiled and replied, "We don’t know yet. We haven’t heard anything from the doctors since Ayla was brought into the delivery room."
Alistair nodded but didn’t say anything more. He crossed his legs, looking uncomfortable in the stiff hospital chair. They knew Ayla was bearing a son, much to the matriarch of their family’s delight. Alistair’s restlessness was understandable, considering the weight of carrying on their family name rested on this child.
He might not care about his wife, but he couldn’t help but feel the pressure of upholding their family legacy. Alistair anxiously tapped his fingers on his knee, his mind filled with anticipation and worry. Despite his personal feelings, he hoped that everything would go smoothly for Ayla and their unborn child.
After waiting for hours, Alistair’s anxiety grew as he watched the clock tick by. The doctors finally emerged from the delivery room, a smile on their faces. Stella’s heart skipped a beat as they delivered the news: Ayla had given birth to a baby boy. Relief washed over her, replacing her worries with overwhelming joy and gratitude.
However, because the baby was born prematurely, he would need to spend some time in the neonatal intensive care unit to ensure his health and development. As for Ayla, she lost a lot of blood during the delivery and would require immediate medical attention.
Alistair checked on his son at the neonatal intensive care unit, watching over him with a blank expression on his face. The doctors assured him the baby would grow stronger daily with proper care and monitoring. Once they were gone, Alistair was given a chance by the nurse on duty to hold his son for the first time.
"You are almost perfect," he said as he looked at the tiny bundle in his arms. "Your one flaw is having that woman as your mother."
His eyes flashed so coldly that the nurses hadn’t seen anyone holding their child for the first time. They wondered if Alistair Han despised the child his wife had just given birth to.
"But that’s alright; I intend to rectify such a mistake. You and I will get the mother and wife we deserve."
Meanwhile, Stella stayed by Ayla’s side, offering support and comfort as she recovered from the delivery complications. It was already morning when Ayla regained consciousness and found Stella beside her. She wasn’t surprised not to see her husband, but that didn’t mean she didn’t feel a pang of sadness deep inside. Ayla knew that her relationship with Alistair had been strained for a while, but she never imagined that he would abandon her like this.
"Where’s my baby?" she asked with a hint of anxiety in her voice.
Ayla was afraid that the Han family would get rid of her as soon as she gave birth to her child. After all, she had caused quite a scandal that ruined her reputation and career and humiliated the Han family. She couldn’t bear the thought of losing her baby on top of everything else. The fear of being completely alone and rejected consumed her, making her desperate for any sign of hope or reassurance.
Stella gently squeezed Ayla’s hand and reassured her, "Don’t worry, Ayla. Your baby is safe and being taken care of in the nursery. You need to focus on your recovery for now."
"And Alistair?" Ayla asked.
Stella’s lips curled into a beautiful smile, making Ayla think it was no wonder her father-in-law was head over heels with this woman. Stella was a stunning woman with a calming presence.
"Alistair is with your baby, keeping a close eye on him," Stella replied, her voice filled with warmth and reassurance.
Ayla felt a wave of relief wash over her. Finally, her husband showed up after months of being absent. She had missed him dearly, and it comforted her that he cared for their baby.
