Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 419: Stupidity Knows No Bounds (1)
Adrienne was unaware of Ayla’s predicament, though she knew Myrtle’s mother was raising Ayla’s newborn son. She was busy with the growing demands of her career and personal life. Adrienne hadn’t heard anything about Ayla lately but assumed she was just caught up in the joys and challenges of motherhood. However, little did she know the overwhelming burden Ayla was facing and how things would soon change.
Adrienne was helping Noah clean his studio one morning when Myrtle arrived with a worried expression. She wondered what had caused her friend to act like this but decided to hold their conversation as she wanted to help her adopted son with her cleaning duties first.
As they finished tidying up, Adrienne couldn’t longer ignore Myrtle’s concern and asked what was wrong. Myrtle took a deep breath and revealed that Ayla had been admitted to a mental institution.
Adrienne was taken aback. She found it too vicious for Alistair to get rid of his wife this way. She couldn’t believe he would stoop so low. However, she cannot sympathize with her cousin when Ayla willingly chooses to marry Alistair.
Ayla was supposedly to be the smartest among the Jiang grandchildren, but she was foolish when it came to Alistair. Adrienne couldn’t help but think that the difference between smart and stupid was quite simple. Genius has its limits, but stupidity knows no bounds.
"On what grounds?" She asked Myrtle. Adrienne felt that Alistair had had enough of keeping a low profile and wanted to make a bold move.
"He claimed that Ayla was suffering from serious postpartum depression and that he feared for their child’s safety," Myrtle answered. "I couldn’t believe he would do something like this to his wife."
Adrienne fell silent, worried about how Alistair’s actions would impact their lives, especially her marriage to Lennox. She knew that Alistair had a few loose screws on his head, and she feared that his obsession with her would ultimately lead to disastrous consequences.
"I can’t help but be worried, Addie. Mom is currently caring for their child, but I’m worried about what will happen if Alistair’s unstable behavior escalates further." Myrtle voiced her concern.
"Their son is still young. I doubt Alistair would turn his attention on him, but it would be bad once your nephew gets older and more vulnerable." Adrienne agreed with her friend. "It’s important to monitor the situation closely and intervene if necessary."
"But who can intervene and stop Alistair? No one in the Han family is brave enough to confront him directly." They all feared the consequences of crossing paths with someone as powerful as him.
Myrtle knew this. Alistair was not only her stepbrother but also her greatest fear. She learned not to cross him or challenge his authority at a young age. Myrtle’s fear of confronting him intensified when her mother married her stepfather, Alistair’s father. Since then, she has avoided situations that could provoke Alistair’s wrath.
But she also knew her crazy stepbrother had become obsessed with her best friend. Myrtle thought that, with Adrienne already married, Alistair would stay away from her. Alistair also ended up marrying Adrienne’s cousin, but it seemed he was trying to get rid of her to pursue Adrienne instead.
"Calm down, Myrtle. Everything will work out in the end." Adrienne’s words were meant to reassure her. "Don’t stress yourself out too much."
Myrtle looked at her best friend, relieved that Adrienne was calm and supportive despite the difficult situation. Myrtle took a deep breath, took Adrienne’s advice, and trusted that everything would work out. She knew she couldn’t control everything, so she had to let go and have faith.
’Alright, but what’s happening here? Are you renovating Noah’s studio again?" She asked, changing the topic abruptly.
Adrienne smiled and looked at Noah’s studio with pride and excitement.
"Yes. Since Noah is growing, Lennox thought it was time for him to get a mentor to help him further develop his skills," Adrienne replied, feeling proud of Noah’s progress in his artistic journey.
Myrtle smiled and looked around. "It only felt like yesterday when you’d met him for the first time," she said nostalgically.
"Yes, and I’m glad to see how far he’s come," Adrienne responded, her heart brimming with joy. "He’s opening up and making friends at school now," Adrienne continued. "He’s growing up as a young man who cares about others, especially his sisters."
"That’s great to hear, then. Lennox must have been pleased to see his brother doing well now." Myrtle knew Noah wasn’t initially close with his siblings, but things have changed for the better.
"Yes, though it seems Noah only sees him as his older brother and refuses to call him Dad." Adrienne shrugged before collecting Noah’s paint brushes that needed some cleaning.
Although Noah was a good artist, he needed help organizing everything in his art supplies. The young boy would always ask his older sister, Samantha, for help; she always came to his rescue with a smile. She patiently showed him how to clean and care for his paints and brushes properly, keeping his personal studio as clean as possible.
"Well, I can’t blame Noah. Though he and Lennox could pass as father and son, Noah was used to Lennox treating him as his younger brother and not a son." Myrtle shrugged before deciding to help her best friend clean.
Adrienne was a wealthy businesswoman, and it still surprised Myrtle that her best friend had time to help Noah with his art supplies. Despite her busy schedule, Adrienne always made time for her family and friends. Myrtle wished she could be as capable and selfless as Adrienne, but she often struggled to balance her commitments.
"I also think it’s fine, and Lennox doesn’t seem bothered by it or affect his relationship with Noah. Len is more nervous as Sam is about to move out soon for college." Adrienne replied.
Myrtle laughed and helped Adrienne move the boxes so they could move around more easily in Noah’s studio.
"You and Nox haven’t even had a kid of your own yet, but you already experience the joys and challenges of parenthood. You two are going to make amazing parents one day," Myrtle said with a warm smile.
Adrienne laughed and said, "Well, taking care of Noah is already good practice for when we have our little one."
