Chapter 500: In This Beautiful Journey Called Life (2)

Blanche’s birthday was lively and filled with laughter and joy. Friends and family gathered to celebrate her special day, dancing to lively music and sharing heartfelt conversations. The atmosphere was vibrant as everyone showered Blanche with love and well wishes. The delicious food and delightful decorations added an extra charm to the celebration, making it a truly memorable occasion for Blanche and everyone in attendance.

When Blanche opened Audrey’s gift, she screamed with excitement as she saw a beautiful doll dressed in a stunning ball gown. The doll’s intricate details and sparkling accessories made it a truly enchanting present. Blanche couldn’t help but hug Audrey tightly, expressing her gratitude for such a thoughtful gift.

"I’m glad you are able to make it, Audrey," Adrienne said while she and Audrey watched Blanche show her doll to her uncles.

Audrey and Isaac had just arrived from their overseas flight and went straight from the airport to the Qin family residence to join the celebration.

"I haven’t seen Blanche for three years, Addie. She has grown so much!" Audrey replied.

Adrienne smiled as she looked at Audrey. Others might find it odd that she made friends with her husband’s ex-fiancee, but Adrienne knew there was something special about Audrey from the moment they met. Audrey had a warmth and sincerity that drew people to her effortlessly, and Adrienne couldn’t help but be captivated by her genuine spirit.

She was also glad that Audrey found the courage to divorce Jacob five years ago. The divorce was quite messy, but it was a necessary step for Audrey to break free from a toxic and loveless marriage finally.

Adrienne supported Audrey throughout the ordeal, offering her a safe haven and a listening ear when she needed it most. She also witnessed Audrey’s transformation from a timid and uncertain woman into a confident and independent individual.

"The days are long, but the years are short." Adrienne agreed with her friend. "So, how long are you going to stay in Chiangshi?"

Audrey shrugged.

"I haven’t decided yet, Addie. Jacob is still harassing me after our divorce. He keeps threatening me that he will take Isaac away from me. I can’t allow that. I want to make sure Isaac grows up in a safe and loving environment, free from all the toxicity. So, for now, I think it’s best that we stay here for a while until I can figure things out legally."

Adrienne frowned, her heart heavy with concern for her friend. She couldn’t fathom how someone like Jacob could continue to cause harm even after the divorce was finalized.

"Have you considered getting a restraining order against him?" she asked, her voice laced with worry.

Audrey sighed, her gaze distant, as she contemplated Adrienne’s suggestion.

"I have, but I’m hesitant," she replied. "The legal process can be daunting, and part of me still holds onto the hope that one day Jacob will change, that he’ll see how his actions have affected not only me but Isaac as well."

Adrienne reached out a comforting hand, gently squeezing Audrey’s shoulder. She also knew that Audrey didn’t get any support from her family.

"I understand your hesitation, Audrey," she said softly. "But remember your safety and Isaac’s well-being are what matters most. If you need help, Lennox and I are here to help you."

Audrey smiled gratefully, grateful for the unwavering support of her dear friend.

"Thank you, Addie. You don’t know how much your words helped me."

Just then, Adrienne spotted her daughter running towards Uncle Shark, who was seated alone, busy reading a small book while nursing a can of beer in one hand. Uncle Shark had already retired as Adrienne’s bodyguard but became a companion to her mother and her grandparents.

Adrienne watched with a slight smile as Blanche showed her new doll to Uncle Shark. Despite his intimidating appearance, Uncle Shark was gentle and kind when it came to children. He had always been fond of Blanche, treating her like his own granddaughter. Even Noah was close to him. The sight of them together warmed Adrienne’s heart. It reminded her that having a family didn’t mean they needed to be blood-related.

Adrienne excused herself from Audrey, intending to find her husband. Alina and Blake already fallen asleep an hour ago, giving Adrienne and Lennox time to entertain their guests. She found her husband having a drink with his friends, Gavin and Kristoff.

"What’s wrong with Kristoff?" Adrienne asked as she placed a hand on Lennox’s shoulder while looking at Kristoff, who was sulking in his seat, staring into his half-empty glass. Lennox sighed, shaking his head.

"Ah, he’s upset because Blanche roasted him earlier." Lennox tried his best not to laugh but failed.

Adrienne raised a slender brow. "What did Blanche say this time?"

"Blanche called him an old man," Gavin answered instead. "When Kristoff pointed out that he’s the same age as me and Nox, it only meant Blanche was also calling her father an old man. But do you know what Blanche says?"

"What?" Adrienne asked, her curiosity piqued. Gavin grinned mischievously before relaying Blanche’s response.

"She said, ’My daddy may be an old man, but at least he has my mommy.’" Gavin chuckled, and Lennox joined in, shaking his head with amusement.

"What kind of things are you teaching your daughter, Nox?" Kristoff shot Lennox a glare.

"My poor heart." He said as he held his chest dramatically. "Your daughter doesn’t need to point out that I’m still single."

Adrienne rolled her eyes, a playful smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "Don’t worry, Kristoff. I’m sure the right woman will come along soon enough," she teased, earning a snort of laughter from Gavin.

As the laughter subsided, Adrienne leaned in closer to Kristoff, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You know, Kristoff," she said teasingly, "Blanche may have a point. Perhaps it’s time for you to find someone special too."

Kristoff rolled his eyes playfully. "Oh, please, Addie. I’m in no rush." He took a sip of his drink and leaned back, crossing his arms. "Besides, who needs love when you have good company and good drinks?"

Adrienne’s heart swelled with love for her family as she watched Lennox laugh with his friends. She knew that they had come a long way from the trials they faced in the past. The scars were still there, but together they had built a life filled with love, support, and growth.

Lennox saw the look on her face and took her hand before placing a kiss on her knuckles. Their eyes met, and they knew they would face whatever challenges lay ahead together.

For in this little corner of the world, amidst all the chaos and uncertainty, Adrienne had found her home—a place where love thrived, friendships flourished, and dreams became reality. And she couldn’t wait to see what adventures awaited them next along this beautiful journey called life.
