Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 104: What I Want
Without realizing that her vulnerability had been noticed by someone with intent to take advantage, Lily Sinclair hurriedly turned around to leave, afraid her cousin would see her in such a sorry state.
After she left, Candace Ford’s gaze turned back to Raine Sinclair and Leon Grant, who were embracing.
"Congratulations to both of you! Raine, since we’re fated like this, why not set our wedding dates together?"
It would be best if they got married right now, to avoid any more dreams that might arise with time passing!
Little did Candace know that the first person to disagree with her suggestion would be Jonas Hawthorne.
Already feeling a pang of jealousy after hearing Raine Sinclair agree to Leon Grant’s proposal, he felt even more agitated upon hearing her deliberately suggest that Raine advance her wedding date.
"How could Mr. Grant’s wedding be arranged so hastily?"
Even as he added this sentence, Jonas Hawthorne didn’t realize the jealousy in his tone.
Upon hearing this, Raine Sinclair extricated herself from Leon Grant’s embrace and heard him say, "Indeed, it is a bit hasty. Raine deserves a wedding that captures the world’s attention. I wouldn’t make her settle for less."
Slightly surprised, Raine Sinclair instinctively looked up at Leon Grant.
His deep, steady eyes and serious expression were utterly devoid of any deception...
For a moment, Raine Sinclair felt a sense of panic.
Could it be... he was serious?
But how could that be possible?
He knew she was pregnant and had recently divorced. The whole city was gossiping about her. If he stood by her now and married her, he would surely face mockery too...
Raine Sinclair couldn’t bear to think about it any further.
And she couldn’t have known that while she was troubled and confused, Jonas Hawthorne silently observed everything.
He saw her gaze fixed on Leon Grant’s face, filled with longing and an unwillingness to part...
Once upon a time, she looked at him with eyes just as sticky and clingy.
But now, her eyes only had room for Leon Grant...
A surge of discontent quickly welled up, and Jonas Hawthorne’s expression turned particularly unpleasant.
"Let’s just wait for the good news from both of you then."
After saying this, Jonas Hawthorne didn’t linger any longer, turning around and leaving.
He worried that if he stayed a second longer, he wouldn’t be able to resist forcibly taking Raine Sinclair away...
Just seeing her by Leon Grant’s side made him insanely jealous!!
And each time he approached, it only added more danger to her.
Candace Ford, who initially wanted to say something, saw Jonas Hawthorne turn away, "Jonas..."
No choice, she followed after him.
Upon witnessing the scene, Leo Keane also merely congratulated Raine Sinclair briefly before quickly following them.
For a moment, there were only Raine Sinclair and Leon Grant left at the entrance of the hospital room.
"Were you scared?"
While Raine Sinclair was still lost in thought, Leon Grant’s voice came from beside her.
He looked at Raine Sinclair somewhat cautiously, afraid that his reckless actions might lead to her dislike and rejection.
Raine Sinclair looked back at him, remembering the proposal with a hint of embarrassment in her gaze, "No... I was really startled just now, Leon. You don’t need to do all this, I..."
She wanted to say she didn’t want to owe him too much, after all, they hadn’t known each other for long, and she couldn’t repay him with anything.
Perhaps he just found it amusing for the moment, seeing her bullied and wanting to help, but that wasn’t the path he should take.
"This is all voluntary." Leon Grant interrupted her hesitation, unwilling for her to feel guilty about his actions, and so he changed the topic, "How’s your body feeling? Want to rest a bit more?"
Raine Sinclair shook her head, "No, I feel okay. I’d like to go back. My grandfather must still be waiting for me."
She had been out for so long that guilt weighed on her heart. If she didn’t return at night, her family would worry.
"But you..." Leon Grant wanted to persuade her a bit further, but then she smiled and said, "Don’t worry, I’m someone who’s walked on the edge of death. I know how precious life is!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Perhaps the earlier emergency was just due to her inner sorrow?
The 800cc of blood wasn’t enough to make her so fragile.
Leon Grant frowned, observing her for a moment, knowing he couldn’t persuade her otherwise, he nodded, "Alright, I’ll take you back."
He said, leading Raine Sinclair back to the hospital room.
While she changed, he took the opportunity to ask the doctor about some emergency measures, fearing she might encounter an accident on the way.
Raine Sinclair saw all these actions from Leon Grant.
Truthfully, if she claimed to have felt nothing at all, that would be a lie.
But even if she felt certain things, she could only pretend not to notice...
At least for now, that’s how things should be.
—
After sending Raine Sinclair back to the Sinclair Family residence, Leon Grant intended to leave.
"Not coming in for a cup of tea? I haven’t properly thanked you for today." Raine Sinclair looked at him with slight surprise.
He merely gave a faint smile, "No, thank you. I heard Mason Sullivan was with your grandfather all afternoon. If he saw me with you, he’d probably be furious."
Regarding Mason Sullivan, his rival, Leon Grant more or less understood his temperament.
Just a playful child.
No need to fuss over a child.
Raine Sinclair blinked, "Well, thank you for today. Next time... next time I’ll treat you to dinner!"
"Just dinner?" Leon Grant raised an eyebrow, suddenly asking.
The smile on Raine Sinclair’s face stiffened instantly.
The atmosphere in the car subtly shifted toward something a bit more ambiguous.
Her hand, originally reaching to unfasten the seatbelt, remained idle for a moment...
"Then... what kind of thanks do you want?" she had no choice but to ask.
"What I want..." Leon Grant repeated these four words, his gaze gradually deepening.
He had asked himself this question countless times as well.
He lingered around Raine Sinclair, witnessing her grievances, understanding her kindness, and the more he did this, the more uncontrollably he wanted to draw near.
She seemed to carry a powerful allure, drawing him closer little by little.
It was beyond his control.
With no answer after waiting for a long time, Raine Sinclair continued her actions.
Just as she was about to press the unlock button, her hand was suddenly enveloped in warmth!
Startled, she looked down to find Leon Grant had leaned over at some point, placing his large hand over hers.
"You..." She looked up quickly, meeting Leon Grant’s affectionate gaze.
Only ten centimeters separated them.
Close enough to count each other’s eyelashes.
The surrounding atmosphere began to heat up gradually.
