Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 206: Loving with Such Caution
Cecilia gave him a big eye roll.
"I really doubt if you’re just love-struck! Can’t you even see such a simple truth?"
"I..." Mason opened his mouth, but before he could say anything meaningful, Cecilia waved it off, signaling him to stop talking.
"Forget it, you’re just too involved to see clearly." Cecilia sighed, grabbed a bottle of beer, and casually popped the cap off on the coffee table with a scoff.
With a "pop!" the cap flew off.
Cecilia directly started drinking from the bottle.
Mason looked at her carefree appearance and immediately showed a look of disdain.
"I really don’t know why your fans call you the ’innocent goddess’, look at yourself now, complete clubbing tomboy! You just happen to have an innocent face, that’s all!"
"Who says female celebrities can’t drink? I find you really have double standards! A drink and I’m a tomboy? Then with all you’ve drunk, are you the club king?" Cecilia retorted sarcastically.
Mason was choked by her words and started coughing incessantly.
"Cough cough cough!"
Cecilia was about to tell him to shut up if he couldn’t win an argument, but before she could speak, the room door opened.
It was Raine Sinclair who came in.
The first thing she saw upon entering was Mason sprawled on the carpet.
He was holding a bottle, planning to drink it.
Seeing Raine come in, Mason froze, silently put the bottle down, his gaze a bit evasive.
Seeing this, Cecilia sneered and mocked, "Drink up, why aren’t you drinking now? Weren’t you having a great time just now?"
"..." Heaven knows how much Mason wished he could toss Cecilia out right now!
She shouldn’t be called Cecilia, but maybe ’Cecilia the Sixth’!
Raine Sinclair, smelling the overwhelming alcohol, frowned slightly, "Why did you drink so much? What’s going on?"
Mason kept silent, unsure of what to say.
Cecilia, seeing his silence, rolled her eyes and asked, "Raine, are you really going to marry Leon Grant? The news is everywhere! Do you need a bridesmaid?"
She was on vacation, toured around Sedonia in two days, and was bored, otherwise, she wouldn’t have the time to meddle with Mason’s trivial matters.
Mason instinctively perked up his ears, wanting to hear what Raine would say.
Upon hearing this, Raine sighed, "Don’t mention it, I didn’t even know Leon spread the news so fast. Now both Sinclair Group and Grant Group’s stocks are soaring, and the shareholders won’t allow me to retract the news. They even secretly bought hot searches, keeping it at the top."
Cecilia immediately became curious, "And what about Leon Grant? Is he serious about it?"
Raine didn’t reply, so Mason snorted, "That guy would be thrilled! I bet he was the first to release the news, using public pressure to force Raine into submission!"
Men always understand men the best.
Although Mason’s words made Leon sound scheming, they weren’t without reason.
Cecilia cradled her face, eyes filled with admiration, "Really? So calculating?! So manly! It has a taste of strong-armed conquest!"
Mason’s eyes twitched, is this woman okay?
What’s so good about such a man?
Raine also pinched her eyebrows, "Honestly, I don’t know what to do either."
Upon hearing this, Mason immediately got nervous, quickly persuading, "Raine, you can’t give in! Otherwise, Leon will get what he wants! That guy is definitely not as simple as you think!"
Cecilia saw this and laughed again, "Yeah, who could be more innocent than our Mason Sullivan?"
Speaking of which, it seems Mason is the only one who wholeheartedly thinks about Raine Sinclair.
When Raine was in love with Jonas Hawthorne, although he felt miserable, seeing her so happy, he supported and helped her.
Later, when Raine divorced and returned to Sinclair Group, he didn’t hesitate to leave his family’s business to work as her little secretary.
Now knowing that Raine might remarry, he just hid and drank alone without disturbing her life.
Such careful and cherished love could only come from Mason.
But his only flaw is lacking courage, he never expressed his feelings to Raine.
So, naturally, he never took the initiative...
His love is more about silent companionship and protection.
Mason glared at Cecilia, "I suspect you’re insulting me."
But because he had drunk too much, his drunken gaze was completely unthreatening!
Cecilia didn’t even look at him, pulling over Raine, "Seriously, have you really not been moved by Leon Grant?"
Raine shook her head, "We’re just regular friends. This whole thing is just him helping me out, trying to annoy Jonas."
In Raine’s view, she and Leon never crossed the line, and there was no ambiguity between them.
Everything was just playing along.
Moreover, she always made it clear to Leon, so there shouldn’t be any misunderstanding, right?
"I see." Cecilia nodded, glanced at Mason who also sighed in relief, feeling both amused and exasperated, "Then why didn’t you say so sooner, making someone think you were really getting married and drowned in sorrow here drinking alone!"
Hearing this, Raine looked at Mason.
The latter seemed to notice her gaze, awkwardly turned his head, stood up wobbling, "I, I’m going to wash my face..."
Yet he didn’t even stand straight before collapsing onto the sofa!
"Mason!"
Raine hurried to help him, only to find he fell asleep right as he hit the sofa, amazingly quick!
Cecilia, watching from the side, had a twitch in her eye, "Probably got drunk? Look at all these empty bottles! Ah, this silly boy..."
Raine was stunned, asking, "Why is he drinking alone here?"
"Isn’t it because of you?" Cecilia sighed.
"Because of me?" Raine incredulously pointed at herself, "What’s going on?"
"Are you pretending to be dumb or are you really clueless?" Cecilia was at a loss for words.
Raine, however, frowned in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Seeing her like this, Cecilia felt it was Mason’s issue to address personally, not something she should intervene in.
But with Raine’s slow reactions and Mason’s timid personality, who knows when this would be revealed!
Cecilia was anxious just watching!
Sighing, she simply switched topics, "Anyway, there’s only three days left, you better rethink this wedding. The first time didn’t work out, the second time you must be careful! Don’t gamble your life just to irritate Jonas, that jerk!"
"I know." Raine also sat down, "But I just haven’t thought of a better solution."
"What solution? The news is already out." Cecilia continued sipping her drink, "Do you think you can reverse the situation?"
"Reverse... the situation..." Raine repeated the phrase, suddenly inspired, grabbing Cecilia’s hand excitedly, "Cecilia, I have an idea!"
"Huh?" Cecilia was taken aback, not sure what plot this was, "What idea?"
