Regeneration System-Chapter 62:Halfway through the school year
One Month Later – The Midpoint of the School Year
The days blended into weeks as Kain adapted to the brutal new pace of his life. Every morning, he woke before the sun had fully risen, his body sore but his mind sharp. There was no room for excuses—only progress.
The Daily Routine
Each day followed a strict pattern:
Morning Routine & Breakfast
Kain woke up early, sometimes before his roommate, Talor, had even stirred. His body ached, but he welcomed the pain—it meant he was growing stronger. After stretching and a brief meditation to focus his mind, he dressed and made his way to the cafeteria.
Thorne was always waiting at their usual table, hunched over a book of poisons or brewing techniques while nibbling on toast absentmindedly.
"You look like hell," Thorne would often remark, smirking as Kain slumped into the chair.
Kain would grunt in response, stuffing food into his mouth while scrolling through his system interface, checking his daily quests. They hadn’t changed:
Daily Training Completed (50 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, 5km run) – Reward: +2 Stamina Daily Combat Practice – Reward: +1 Strength Daily Skill Practice (Forging, Enchanting, or Shield Combat) – Reward: +1 Defense or Intelligence
Kain never missed a single one.
Enchanting Class – Mastering the Basics
Kain’s skills in enchanting had grown significantly. He no longer struggled with simple enchantments and had started experimenting with more complex inscriptions.
One of his latest creations was an enchanted dagger for Thorne, imbued with a venom-enhancing effect that allowed poisons to bond more efficiently with the blade. He had used a Dark-attribute monster core and Thorne’s own blood to synchronize the enchantment with his magic.
"Not bad," Thorne had commented, flipping the blade between his fingers. "You might make an enchanter out of yourself yet."
Kain simply smirked. "Don’t count on it."
Combat Class – The Struggle for Power
This was where Kain’s real growth happened.
At first, he had struggled against the second-years, but over time, he adapted. He learned how to read their movements, anticipate attacks, and counter with devastating precision.
One of his biggest breakthroughs came when he started sparring against Alexa, the mage who specialized in Fire and Wind magic. At first, she had destroyed him in seconds—her spells were too fast, too overwhelming. But after weeks of practice, Kain had learned to close the distance before she could cast.
By the end of the month, he could parry her fire lances with his shield and pressure her enough that she had to rely on her dagger rather than spells. It was still a struggle—but he was improving.
Forging Class – A Need for Stronger Gear
Kain’s armor had taken a beating over the past month. Between sparring, monster hunting, and training, his gear was constantly breaking.
He spent hours in the forge, repairing dents in his chest piece, reinforcing his shield, and even crafting a new pair of gauntlets with built-in enchantment slots. The materials he had gathered from monster hunting made all the difference.
"You’re starting to look like a real smith," one of the instructors had remarked.
Kain simply nodded, wiping sweat from his brow.
Monster Hunts – Growing Stronger 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Every weekend, Kain and Thorne ventured into the wilderness, hunting for cores, materials, and experience.
They had encountered larger, more dangerous creatures—beasts that required teamwork to take down. Kain would serve as the vanguard, blocking attacks and breaking bones, while Thorne used his poison-based magic to weaken enemies over time.
One of their biggest fights had been against a Stonehide Bear, a massive Earth-attribute beast with incredible defense. It had nearly crushed Kain with a single swipe, but Thorne had managed to inject a paralytic venom into its bloodstream long enough for Kain to deliver a Juggernaut Swing straight to its skull.
The Earth-attribute core they had retrieved from it was one of the highest-level ones they had ever found.
"That was close," Thorne had admitted afterward, still panting.
Kain, battered and bruised, just chuckled. "Worth it."
A New Standing in the Second-Year Class
By the end of the month, Kain was no longer in the bottom third of the second-years.
He had clawed his way into the middle ranks, surpassing several students who had underestimated him. While he still struggled against the strongest second-years, he was no longer a pushover.
More importantly, he had gained their respect.
After one particularly grueling spar, Darius—the spear user who had first defeated Kain so easily—clapped him on the shoulder and grinned.
"You’re not half bad anymore, Kain."
Kain smirked. "Give me another month, and I’ll be in the top third."
Darius laughed. "I’d like to see you try."
The Halfway Mark
The month had passed faster than Kain could have imagined.
By the time the school officially hit the halfway mark, Kain felt like a completely different person. He was stronger, faster, and more skilled than ever before.
But he also knew this was just the beginning.
The threats from Thorne’s family still loomed in the background. The second years were getting stronger. And somewhere out there, true monsters were waiting to test their limits.
Kain clenched his fists.
He wasn’t done growing yet.

With his newly upgraded stats, Kain felt stronger, faster, and more resilient than ever. However, it wasn’t long before he noticed where he had previously been lacking and where he still needed improvement.
Physical Strength & Stamina: A Noticeable Improvement
Before his recent stat increases, Kain often found himself outmatched in pure strength when facing stronger second-years. His strikes had impact, but against well-trained opponents, he struggled to break through defenses. Now, with his Strength and Stamina increasing, he could swing his hammer for longer without tiring, and when he landed a hit, his opponents felt it.
In sparring matches, he no longer needed to hold back or worry about exhaustion. He could go all out for extended periods, matching some of the top students in endurance.
Agility & Reaction Speed: Closing the Gap
Previously, he had struggled against faster, more agile opponents. Many second-years had been able to evade his strikes and counterattack before he could react. Now, with his Agility increased to 40, he could keep up with their movements, dodge more effectively, and land counters where he had once been too slow.
While he still wasn’t the fastest in his class, he no longer felt helpless against speed-based fighters. His newfound speed allowed him to control the pace of fights better, rather than always being on the defensive against quicker opponents.
Dexterity & Precision: A Minor Weakness
Despite his massive improvements, Dexterity remained one of his weaker stats. This meant his fine motor control in combat wasn’t as refined as it could be. While he could swing his hammer with incredible force, his ability to land precise, calculated hits still needed work.
He realized this the hard way when sparring against a rapier user. While Kain could take a hit, the second-year was able to weave through his defenses and land precise thrusts. The fight had been close, but frustrating. His raw power wasn’t always enough against those who could target his weak points with precision.
Magic & Elemental Infusion: Still Underwhelming
Kain hadnt invested in Mana Infusion and Elemental Infusion, when compared to dedicated mages, his magic was still lackluster. He could enhance his weapons for brief moments, but his control over elemental energy was still rough.
Against physically weak opponents, he could use raw strength to overpower them, but against skilled mages, he often found himself on the defensive. His limited mana pool and lack of ranged magic options meant that against opponents who fought from a distance, he had to close the gap quickly or be forced to rely on dodging.
Conclusion: Progress, but More to Learn
With his increased stats, Kain had gone from bottom third to upper-middle ranks of the second-year combat class. He was stronger, faster, and could take more hits than ever before. However, he still had weaknesses:
Dexterity needed improvement to better land precise, effective strikes. Magic was still a weak point, especially against ranged fighters. Fighting against highly skilled, technique-based opponents was still a challenge.
As the second half of the school year approached, Kain knew that if he wanted to rise to the top, he had to keep pushing himself.
