Regressing Through the Apocalypse with the Third Male Lead-Chapter 46: Volume 2.
Chapter 46: Volume 2. Chapter 46
Florence turned around only to feel a strong familiar presence. He had felt this presence before. When they fought the demon king.
And Kathleen casted her strongest magic. The divine magic of purification she was blessed by the gods of her world.
How can such a presence be found inside a girl of this world who was on the verge of turning into a complete demon?
"Please! Make it stop!"
"I don’t want to kill anyone."
"Save me."
Florence turned around. And the barrier that was glowing in red and dark energies surrounding the girl were getting thinner. ’This young lady. It is not like she wanted to transform. The barrier is protecting her from completely transforming.’
"Kill Freyah Lima."
Florence turned around once again when he felt someone was looking directly at him. Now, there was another form. It was like a human shadow but with no face or anything. Horns started to grow on the shadow’s head.
"Who are you?"
But instead of a demonic energy. Florence sensed a divine energy from the monster.
"She will destroy the world."
It kept repeating the same things all over and over again. It seemed it was not even sentient and was only programmed to say the same thing over and over again.
Florence waved his hand and the daggers appeared. Blue light started to engulf it and he was surrounded by ice particles. Without a moment of hesitation, he dashed forward to attack the shadowy figure.
Though he was confused. But he understood right now that if he defeated this thing, he would be able to free Paula from transforming into a completely corrupted demon.
He made a quick dash targeting the shadowy figure’s neck. Then as he was on the opposite side. The Shadow figure’s head fell on the ground in the instance. It didn’t even resist. Which Florence thought that it would fight back.
Florence faced it. Then it started to diminish and turned into ashes. Following that, the dark void also started to fade.
"Another anomaly detected..."
"Another anomaly detected..."
"Another anomaly detected..."
A voice echoed through the fading darkness. Florence looked around, but there was no one there. And the familiar divine energy, he could no longer feel its presence.
"Meow..."
Florence looked down when a cat caressed its head on his feet. It was an orange cat. Then he heard multiple meow sounds. As he looked ahead... there was Paula, who was seemingly unconscious.
There were two other cats, one was black and the other was white, and they were circling her. There was red and dark energy surrounding them.
"Meow," the orange cat walked towards the unconscious Paula.
"The three of you. You are protecting her." The cats seemed to nod their heads at Florence. They meowed one more time and nudged their heads at the unconscious Paula as if they were saying goodbyes. Then they started to walk away.
Paula gained consciousness for a moment. Then she saw the cats that she always feeds on the part before the apocalypse. The only friends she ever had.
"Do, Mi, So," she called the names she had given to the cats. "I have been looking everywhere. Thank goodness, you are all alive."
The cats stopped walking then turned their heads to Paula.
"Meow," the three of them meowed one more time. Then their bodies started to glow.
"Where are you going?" Paula called out. But her eyes were too heavy to keep open. "Don’t leave..." The last thing she saw were the cats glowing and slowly fading away into light particles. Then she completely losed consciousness.
Florence glanced at the fading darkness. It was changing into the color of vibrant blue skies. His mind went back to the shadowy figure. His mind was filled with thoughts.
He had a feeling that there was much deeper going on between his world and this world. And it was not something good.

Meanwhile...
Freyah with all her might, stopped momentarily as a blinding light exploded and covered the entire area. But then she moved immediately, sensing the movement of the three remaining Gargantulas.
Without wasting time, she threw with all the force she got, her two daggers. Piercing through the hearts of the first two Gargantulas. The last one, Freyah, jumped from the land, and used the falling bodies of the two Gargantulas as a platform to jump higher. She picked the last remaining dagger strapped on her ankles. And without wasting time threw it to the last Gargantula.
Piercing directly its chest.
The blinding light was fading away.
Midair. Two bodies of people were falling. Freyah didn’t stop moving. She used the last Gargantula’s body as the final platform to jump even higher midair. She extended her hand reaching for the two bodies. She was able to grab Paula’s body first. Then next was Florence... she was able to grab his right hand, then stick him closer to her.
Freyah looked at the place she was going to land. It was on the rocky planes.
Freyah squinted her eyes. Carrying two people, she reversed herself so that she would be the ones who would bear the impact.
But as she neared the ground, letters in black and white color appeared.
Thud. Instead of the hard ground, Freyah hit a soft cushion. She landed in a huge cushion. Cheral with both of his palms pointed in their direction. He stood there, with Cherellyn on his back.
"Damn! I made it in time!" Cheral said with a grin. "I told you, we can still help you."
Freyah stood up right away. The cocoon was no longer in the sky. But it didn’t mean that the monsters could simply disappear.
"Take care of them." Freyah said to Harley and Cheral. Then she rushed towards the wall once again.
"You’re welcome, Ate!" Cheral yelled out. But Freyah was not able to respond. Her mind was only focused on one thing... as long as she didn’t confirm that the zombies and evolves were gone, she couldn’t stay complacent.
All the Gargantulas were defeated. Harley and Eman were just cleaning up some strays that were left. Freyah looked around at the numerous bodies of zombies and evolved alike surrounding the village. The other combatants were also kept on firing their guns from the top of the walls to help with the clean up.
Freyah was going to jump to the wall... when all of the sudden, cold hands wrapped her eyes. She froze for a moment before she grabbed it’s hands away.
"Are you kidding me..."
But when she turned around... she found herself in a different place. It was a place that seemed otherworldly. Half of her legs were diverged to thick dark clouds and lightning sparked and thunder roared everywhere.
"Freyah Lima..." she turned around. When someone spoke her name. The voice echoed through the planes. When she turned around, there was a small baobab tree in the middle of a pond. The tree was surrounded by a golden light.
"Three years... I can only hold for four more years. Please hurry..." the voice was saying more words but it became too soft for her to hear.
"What are you talking about?!" Freyah was confused. As Freyah tried to take a step towards the tree, she returned back to the village. Then she found herself falling from the walls. She braced herself for the impact. And as soon as she landed, there was an explosion of dust.
"Ate Freyah!" Harley ran to her direction.
Then the dust started to fade away, revealing Freyah who was standing with a small crater underneath her. "I’m fine. Let’s end everything now." Freyah dashed forward to the nearest zombie.

A few hours later...
Everyone was on the ground, completely exhausted. They fought the whole night.
"Other than some destruction on parts of the walls and some of the houses, there are no casualties and all are alive and kicking." Monica reported to Freyah.
Freyah sighed. They were at the top of the wall. And Freyah was looking beyond the bodies of zombies scattered around. She ordered everyone to rest for two hours. Then after that, they would begin to clean and burn all the zombies’ bodies
"What about Florence and that girl?"
"They are still unconscious but they are not in grave danger. Gwenette and your mom are looking after them for the meantime." Monica said. "You should rest too."
"I’m already resting." Freyah said. Then Monica sighed at her words. There was a momentarily silence between them, then Freyah spoke again.
"With this, we can make the village stronger." Freyah muttered. "Then I can start to look for the root cause of all these things."
"You are going to leave?"
"The meat reserves that we have are depleting with the lack of animals. Soon we are going to rely on complete vegetables and crops."
"Then aren’t we going to be healthier that way," Monica chuckled.
"I don’t want that. I have been living so long without eating meat and now it would be driven away from me once again." Freyah chuckled.
"Is that the real reason?" Monica walked beside her.
"One of the many reasons." Freyah stated. "The longer we prolong not looking for the main source and solution for this apocalypse. The lower our survival gets."
"Yes. That is true. So where are we going to go first to look for a solution?"
’We...’ Freyah looked at the skies that were now painted with red, orange and blue colors. The sun was already rising from the horizon.
"Somewhere to the Northern parts of the world."
