Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance-Chapter 66. Sister Clara.
"That won’t be necessary Elder Elaine. But I’ve come for something very important actually. We’ve recently received reports of how your village had experienced a recent monster tide attack."
"Yes, that is correct."
"I believe the village was able to handle the pressure from the monsters with the help of a few awakened individuals residing here, if I’m not mistaken."
"You are right yet again, sister Clara."
"Oh, excellent. Such great news. Hero Aldric is always seeking brave souls to join the kingdom’s defense and he would be more than happy to have these few individuals in his party. May I have a look at them, please?" Clara asked but didn’t wait to hear Elaine’s response before scanning the crowd in front of her.
She searched across the crowd until her gaze landed on a pair of eyes staring right back at her.
"You there. Step forward please." Clara beckoned for the young man to come closer.
Ray stepped forward as the crowd parted for him to walk through .
Upon getting closer, Ray noticed Clara squinting her eyes before widening it in surprise.
"Y-your name is Ray Ashgard and your class is Void Walker?"
Ray smirked irritably and replied. "Yes."
A Priest or Priestess class was one of the most annoying class to have in this world because they had the ability to view a person’s status screen.
However, their class only limited them to seeing a person’s name, class, level and period of awakening.
Aside from those four, they couldn’t see anything else.
This meant that Clara couldn’t see the arrays of skills he had in his arsenal.
Priests and priestesses were the only ones who could view a person’s status but they can’t view the levels of those significantly higher than theirs.
High level priests and priestesses are also able to change the class of a person as well and this is why a few awakened individuals visit the cathedral to change class sometimes.
"Hmm, A Void Walker huh. Such a rare class. A truly rare class indeed." Clara uttered softly before noticing his level and her eyes widened in surprise once again.
"What? you’re Level 15?...Already?"
The guards behind her instinctively had their hands grabbing the tilt of their swords because none of them had expected to see Ray having such a really high level in a remote village like Thornsville.
Even Clara couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Her eyes lingered on his level a few times and she alternated her gaze at the period of time he had Awakened along with his level before lowering her gaze back to Ray.
"Such a short span of time and yet you’ve leveled up so high already. What a really rare and exceptional talent you have."
"Thank you."
"You’re nineteen right? And yet you fought during the tide, am I correct?"
"You are."
"I’m told you killed a wyvern as well and now I can see the rumors about you were true."
With the fact that a wyvern had been killed by him, news like that couldn’t stay quiet and would always travel far and wide.
Clara studied him a bit longer, then she looked past him and toward the crowd. "I heard there was another who had Awakened in this village, are they here right now?" She asked as she continued to scan across the crowd until Mira stepped forward herself...
Upon seeing the beautiful Tauren girl in front of her, Clara’s expression lit up and a genuine delight crossed her face like sunshine. "Oh my goddess. You’re a Valkyrie? How wonderful!!" she said excitedly as she approached the young lady.
"You’re level 6 and had just freshly awakened as well. Extraordinary. Simply extraordinary. The both of you are truly exceptional. The Hero will be very interested in meeting you two."
Ray and Mira remained silent but Clara noticed this.
To be honest, Clara had expected them both to be squealing and smiling like newborn babies being given a gift basket but neither of them seemed excited about the prospect of joining her in meeting with the hero of the kingdom, which was odd but Clara didn’t think too much about it
She simply assumed both Ray and Mira were considering the possibilities of their lives changing so soon and so fast, that neither of them could keep up with how their lives would never remain the same again.
"Ray? Mira?" Clara called out to both of them.
"I know this is a lot to take in at the moment but the elite warrior’s party is assembling the finest warriors in the kingdom and you two could be a great part of it. You’ll be fighting alongside Lord Aldric and his trusted party members but fighting alongside him is not just a service, it’s an opportunity to be a part of something greater. You’ll be protecting the innocent and you’ll be standing against evil to be a part of the kingdom’s future."
Hearing all these, Ray couldn’t help but smirk a little.
He could see how Clara meant every word she was saying.
The young lass really thought the elite warrior party cared about people of the kingdom.
He could feel from the tone of her voice that Clara really had genuine conviction and belief in Aldric and his team members.
She wasn’t lying or trying to manipulate them because she truly thought she was offering them the honor and chance to be someone greater than they were now.
And if Ray was being honest, he had heard these exact words in his first life and he had believed them completely.
At the time, he thought it was his destiny to join the elite warrior’s party and be of great use to them and the kingdom, but things didn’t work out the way he had expected them to.
Clara noticed the smirk in his face and it gingered her to keep going. "Ray? Mira? I understand this is sudden, but I’d like to extend an invitation to the two of you. I want you to join me on the journey back to the capital. I want you to meet with the hero himself and see what he’s building." Clara smiled warmly as she glanced at their faces, hoping they would happily agree to join her on her way back to the capital but neither of them felt interested in doing that.
Meanwhile, Ray held her gaze steadily before opening his mouth to speak. "I am honored by the invitation, Sister Clara, but I have obligations here and I can’t abandon them."
