Reincarnated as a Flower, Fine then I'll bloom my own way-Chapter 78 - 76: The Baby
Chapter 78: Chapter 76: The Baby
SLAM!
The heavy doors of the cathedral burst open, nearly rattling the stained glass windows.
The mayor of Paradise Garden stood there, his face flushed with excitement, out of breath, his hands raised high.
"Everyone! Lady Sumi is back!!"
For a heartbeat, there was silence.
Then.
Chairs screeched. Goblets clinked. Feet scrambled across marble floors. Smiles bloomed like fireworks.
Everyone Aurthor, Bokkon, Yooto, Lunara, Gearor’s spirit rose instantly and rushed outside, their hearts pounding, their eyes wide with anticipation.
The doors of the church swung open fully as the crowd spilled out into the streets.
Outside, the city was already prepared. Word traveled faster.
A long path stretched through the main plaza, every race, Humans, Orcs, Beastmen, Elves all stood in rows on either side, faces filled with wonder and joy.
The air was festive, but reverent.
A wide gap remained down the middle of the road.
The first to appear were the Orcs, walking proudly in lines of four. Their armor clinked softly, flowers tucked into their shoulder plates by village children. The crowd erupted in cheers, clapping and whistling, as the Orcs returned home with heads held high.
Then.
Silence.
The orcs moved aside, forming a ring.
The floating flower descended slowly through the clouds above, gliding down like a celestial petal riding a breeze.
And standing at its edge... was her.
Sumi Hana.
The one they had waited for.
The flower touched down, and she stepped onto the stone path, her long cloak catching the wind, her white hair glinting in the sunlight.
But just as the crowd was about to erupt again.
A soft sound broke through the silence.
A cry.
A baby’s cry.
Everyone froze.
Eyes darted toward Sumi again.
And now... they saw it.
Cradled in her arms, wrapped in green and golden leaves, was a baby girl.
Her small fingers twitched. A wisp of white hair peeked out from beneath the petal-like blanket. Her face scrunched with soft cries, eyes still shut tight.
The entire crowd fell into an awed hush.
Sumi looked down at the child and gently rocked her in her arms.
"Shhh... shhh..." she whispered. "We’re home."
As if hearing the word, the baby’s tiny eyes fluttered open.
Her irises were glowing crimson red.
The crowd stood frozen.
Bokkon, mouth open, blinked repeatedly like his brain was buffering.
Aurthor crossed his arms, but his eyes were twitching.
Yooto’s mouth moved but no words came out.
Lunara squinted sharply, calculating every possibility in her head.
And even Gearor’s spirit flickered slightly beside them, like it had just short-circuited.
Sumi walked forward calmly.
She stopped just in front of them all, sunlight glowing behind her like a halo.
Her voice rang out with strength, but warmth.
"Everyone... I’m back."
No one responded at first.
Until—
Bokkon raised a trembling finger toward the bundle in her arms.
"Uh... M-My Lady..." he stammered. "C-Can I ask..."
His voice cracked.
"Whose... baby is that...?"
Sumi blinked slowly.
Then she smiled.
"Mine."
The word hit the plaza like a lightning strike.
"EEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!!"
Everyone screamed.
Voices clashed. People dropped things. An elf fainted.
And in the middle of it all.
The baby girl blinked at the noise...
...And burst into loud cries again.
Sumi sighed, patting the baby’s back softly, her expression staying calm amidst the chaos.
"Well," she muttered with a smile, "I guess that’s one way to make an entrance."
Back inside the church, the atmosphere was not what one would expect after the return of their goddess.
Sumi Hana sat calmly.
One leg crossed over the other, her back straight, eyes half-lidded, and a faint smile playing at her lips. In her arms, still peacefully resting, was the baby girl—wrapped in green-and-gold leaves, a small patch of white hair glinting beneath her hood.
The hall was silent.
Completely silent.
Every eye in the room was on her.
They weren’t afraid.
But they were... shook.
Lunara, the composed, cunning Lunara, finally snapped.
"MASTER WHAT HAVE YOU DONNNNEEEEEE!!"
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she leapt from her seat, flailing her arms as if the ceiling was falling.
"I thought you were out to do that important work of yours—but instead you went and— and—HUHUHUHUHUHUHU—YOU ##### SOMEONE AND HAD A BABY?!?!"
Sumi didn’t flinch.
Her smile widened just a little.
She slowly raised one hand...
...and swiped it through the air in a horizontal line.
FWOOSH—!
An invisible force instantly launched Lunara like a ragdoll straight into the nearest wall with a BAM! She slid down in a daze, leaving a very decorative crack pattern.
"Ouch..." she groaned from the ground, twitching.
Aurthor, took a step forward, clearing his throat awkwardly.
"L-Lady Sumi... we understand," he began, voice wavering. "You’re also a woman, after all, and, uh, every woman wants a child someday, so—so it’s fine! We totally respect it!"
Sumi raised an eyebrow. "Hmm."
Aurthor gave a nervous chuckle. "So...who’s the father by the—"
She swiped her finger vertically this time.
THUMP!
Aurthor was launched straight up into the ceiling with a muffled CRASH, bounced off the chandelier, and slammed back down onto a wooden bench.
He lay there dizzy, stars spinning in his eyes. "I... saw the light..."
Meanwhile, at the side, Yooto held Bokkon by the shoulders.
Bokkon was lying back in his chair, his jaw slack, his eyes dead wide, whispering like a man who had witnessed the impossible.
"...No way... No way... No way... No way..."
"Bokkon! Get a grip!!" Yooto yelled, shaking him. "Don’t give up on me!!"
Gearor stood silently near the window awkwardly, arms crossed,
Then.
BANG!
The doors swung open again.
The Twin girls entered, their steps swift, armor still dusted.
They bowed briefly and said in unison, "Lady Sumi, we heard you were back."
But as they stepped forward and laid eyes on her—
on the baby in her arms.
they froze.
Their eyes widened.
The air felt suddenly heavier.
Sumi looked up at them and offered a casual nod. "Oh, finally. You two are here."
Himiko’s eyes never left the baby.
Her voice, low and firm, cut the tension like a blade.
"...I apologize for the rudeness, Lady Sumi," she said. "But that child..."
She narrowed her gaze.
"...That presence. It’s the same as the demon me and my sister fought."
Gasps broke out across the cathedral.
Yooto turned. Aurthor groaned from the floor. Even Lunara flinched where she sat slumped against the wall.
Sumi’s expression didn’t change.
She looked at the baby in her arms for a moment, brushing a strand of white hair aside.
The baby stirred faintly but didn’t cry.
Then she looked up.
Her voice, calm and clear, echoed through the cathedral.
"...Now that everyone is here..."
"Let me explain."
