"We’re leaving tomorrow?" Shara asked around dinner time, surprised by how quickly it was. She had more or less expected them to be staying in the city for a longer time.

What she was even more surprised by was the fact that they were going back up the mountain. "Are we returning to Jameen?" she asked.

"No, just to the forest. About a day away."

"Why?" Shara asked, confused.

"To help those people up there," Ning said. "Don’t say anything. I know what you might be thinking. Keep it for later."

Shara was most definitely about to object, but Ning’s words got her to stop immediately. Still, she couldn’t help but think about it thoroughly. It was such a bad idea for her. To help those people that could be bandits.

Ning hadn’t told her much about those men, so it was understandable why she was so concerned.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Shara asked later and Ning nodded. There wasn’t much she needed to know.

After a while, they went to sleep.

Ning woke up early the next day, thinking about all the work he needed to do before he made his way up the mountain. He needed clothes and food primarily for the men, as well as some pots and pans for them to eat out of.

Not to mention, he needed to get some medical care for them. He was going to have to buy a lot of things, but hopefully, the idea that he needed it for a 2 week’s journey would be enough to throw the guards off what he wanted to do.

If not, he would have to sneak the food out somehow and then take it all away once they were away.

Ning wanted to buy his storage skill for the larger Inventory, but he was still about 12 points away from that, even after all the points he had received.

The fact that it cost him 50 points meant he had a bit more to earn.

Shara helped Ning with everything. She went around to the shops, buying cheap clothes in bulk. They claimed that they wanted to sell it on the other side, which squashed all the curiosities the shopkeepers had.

Ning bought enough food as well, along with a few tents. There were no mattresses they could carry, so the people would have to sleep on the ground.

They had slept on it for so long that it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

After hauling it all to where they had kept their cart, they came to find out that the cart was a bit too small for what they planned on doing. After thinking for some time, Ning decided to sell what they had and buy another one.

That included 2 other horses.

Ning wasn’t sure if this was a good idea or not at first, but after much consideration, he decided that Shara was good enough for it.

Around the afternoon, when everything was said and done, they left.

They made their way to the gate that had welcomed them, but this time it read "Farewell" on the other side. The guards stood at the gate and checked what they were taking.

They searched the items for contraband, but since all Ning and Shara were doing was taking regular items with them, they were soon allowed to leave.

They began climbing up the mountain, which was the hardest of the task. The cliffs to the side were dangerous and Ning was ahead of Shara so she could follow him properly. He looked back multiple times, only to see her smile a little and gesture to him that she was alright.

Ning felt more or less better about it all after seeing that she was fine.

About an hour later, they were up the mountain and didn’t have to have the horses drag them any further. There was little incline from here, which was good for the horses.

They traveled right until it was starting to get dark before they stopped. Since they had eaten already, and the horses were well-fed before they arrived, they only needed to be fed a bit before it was time for them to rest.

Ning was tired after a long day of hard work, and so was Shara. Before they knew it, they were already making a bed on top of the cart and sleeping in it.

Ning woke up the next morning and prepared to leave once again.

During the day, they traveled down the beaten path in the mountains, feeling the cold air that blew atop it. There was no chatting here. Shara was behind him and the horse’s hooves were loud enough that any casual conversation would be cut right through.

They traveled the entire day, stopping only a few times to rest or relieve themselves. After traveling down this road the entire day, they finally stopped once again.

"This is bad," Shara said as they were eating. "I thought we were fast, so we would reach the forest soon, but we aren’t. What do we do?"

"What’s the issue?" Ning asked.

"The issue is we won’t make it past the forest. It is so long after all," Shara said.

"Oh… we aren’t going into the forest," Ning said. "We are stopping outside of it."

Shara frowned. "Why?" she asked.

"Because I promised those men I would."

Shara thought for a bit. "I’m still scared. What if they are bad people?"

"Then we fight," Ning said. "I have my arm back, so it will be difficult for anyone to get the upper hand."

Ning’s arm turned into pure iron for a second too. "And they won’t have a way to fight through this."

"I hope that’s true," Shara said. "If not, we are going to our own doom."

"Don’t worry,’ Ning said. "It will be alright."

Once they were done eating, they went back to sleep.

The very next morning, they woke up, made all the necessary preparations, and made their way back toward the forest.
