Reincarnated As An Extra With The 10x Link System-Chapter 14: A Familiar Voice
Chapter 14 - A Familiar Voice
Chapter 14
Roars echoed throughout the forest as she jumped from tree to tree, trying as much as possible to escape the creature behind her. It crumbled everything that stood in its path as it charged toward her.
The situation at the moment for her was a really tough one and she was left with the single thought of whether her flames would be able to harm the creature enough for her to take it out. She would rather risk her life taking out the creature as it would be enough to make her day, rather than go chasing after weaker beasts.
All she needed to do was find this creature's weakness somehow, and she was sure it would be dead in the next few minutes, at least, that's what she thought.
The beast sent its claws down towards him once again, sending her a wave that instantly cut down all the trees before her. A great amount of dust rose, almost blocking her sight, but jumping high up from the tree, she immediately leaped towards the creature.

Quickly rotating repeatedly midair as she charged toward the beast, engulfing her entire body in red scorching flames, though risky, she was ready to use her deadliest attack on the beast.
The flames that had engulfed her only continued to grow bigger until it was about twice, and as she hit the beast she immediately placed both of her hands forward. The force of her impact instantly pushed it downward, and the flames from her body instantly spread towards the both of them.
The flames continued to rage throughout the creature's body, prompting a roar louder than anyone it had let out since she had encountered. With its life now being threatened, its only instinct was to attack the only threat before it.
Its life slowly drifted away as the flames continued to scorch it, and with Yuki pushing it further downwards, it was slowly losing its balance.
Using the remaining strength it could muster, it quickly swung its hand towards her, hitting her away into the sides of the forest, while the the flames continued to rage on its body.
It recovered its balance once again, slowly charging towards her as it continued to groan loudly. The flames left it in great pain and now, it saw Yuki more as a threat than a potential prey.
It slowly raised its hands once again as it got closer to her, and just as it was about to descend, a gush of wind suddenly went past the creature. Yuki, who was lying on the ground, was no longer there, and just beneath its raised hand was a pool of dark blue blood.
Its hand slowly fell to the ground, and Yuki could be seen right behind it, a grin on her face as she slowly removed her hand from the hilt of her sword. She proceeded to turn around, watching the beast stand still in terror.
She grinned harder as she thought, "Hehe, serves you right for thinking you could try to kill me and get away with it."
And while she was still in thought, she began conjuring a fireball, one strong enough to finish the beast before her. All it took was one last hit before the creature, huge and mighty as it slowly fell to the ground.
" Now where the hell do I even start looking for the beast's core?" She thought, bending beside the creature's body.
Now that she had successfully dealt with it, the problem was finding the soul core of a creature this big. With her being unable to sense energy in this strangely identical dimension she had found herself in, some things that would seem very easy often came off as difficult for her. And now she was going to spend hours looking for the soul core of a creature.
" And why did you have to go a become so big?" He murmured in frustration, standing up from the ground as he kicked her feet hard against the beast's body.
Her hands were now covered in blue blood with there being no signs of the beast's core. Normally it would be around the beast's upper abdomen, which was naturally her first place of search, but she didn't find it even after all that.
She was already too disgusted to carry on and wasn't even sure at this point if the beast's core was still present. She gave up completely after searching for a few more minutes, heading further into the forest in search of more beasts.
She still didn't understand why she couldn't find the beast's soul core if its physical body still remained after it had been killed. As long as a beast's core remained, the dead body could go on without decaying for over a decade, with the core's power slowly dissipating.
If that were the case, then the beast's body should have long disappeared, which meant that the essence of its core still lingered within it, but she just couldn't feel it, let alone find it.
" I should have just left it and gone for the weaker beasts; now I just wasted my time for nothing. Of course, my luck would only turn bad the day I finally decide to get greedy." She thought, walking deeper into the forest, " I've been going for so long, and still nothing. Is today just not my day!?"
Taking one last deep sigh, she continued deeper into the forest, this time threading- it was taking caution just in case whatever it was probably chasing the creatures might be close by.
Surely it wasn't the furry creature, and the thought of there being something possibly stronger than it in this forest only frightened her. Having walked for a long while, she finally set sight on the end of the path she was walking on, and the prints she had seen strangely ended there as well.
She quickly turned around, looking back at how far she had walked to get here, and that was when she realized that perhaps coming here today had been a lost cause; there hadn't been any others here either, and she was quite sure she wouldn't be finding any more beasts no matter how long she would search.
" I'm not sure if I ever heard her telling me anything about anything of special occasion happening on this day, but I guess I'll have to go back home at this point."
Everything seemed off today, and to rid herself of possible future troubles, she decided to quickly exit the forest. She had spent over two hours in there, and it would soon be noon with no progress having been made.
Returning from the long distance was a hard chore for her, and now she had to stride through the hot sun for hours in order to get back to the city.
It was just as she had thought while within the shinrin forest; every other person had canceled their plans to go to the forest today.
There were all muffled noises coming from everyone in the city as they looked around at each other. There was something no one dared speak out, and it was due to the presence of the guards around them.
She had quickly put away her hunting equipment and untied her hair, allowing it to flow freely, as well as remove the mask on her face. And now she had to return back to the house as soon as possible.
" I have to get back to Miss Ame and have her explain to me what happened exactly." She thought, walking forward when she suddenly felt a slight tap on her shoulder.
A gentle, familiar, feminine voice resounded immediately after that. It was cold and sent chills down her spine. There was only one person who she knew would make her feel this way, but who would have thought?
" Yuki?"
Tears almost fell from her eyes as their gaze finally met each other's. And there she was, standing still before her, dressed in a plain white skirt, and white dress, her long hair tied back neatly. She was just as pretty as anyone would remember her.
" Big sis." She quickly blurted out, amidst her almost sobbing voice, "It's really you?"
