Reincarnated as Itsuka Shido: Collecting Spirits as Lovers-Chapter 214: Welcome To Nazarick
"W-What is that thing?"Mare stuttered, her eyes fixed on the menacing figure of the Asura standing tall behind Shido. Its strange hand seal pulsed with an ominous power, radiating a palpable sense of danger on different levels.
"I don’t know, but I could tell it’s very dangerous and powerful."
"I don’t know," Aura replied, her voice low, "but I can tell it’s incredibly powerful and dangerous."
She didn’t look at Mare, her gaze locked on the Asura. A moment later, her eyes shifted to Shido, a complex light flickering within them.
Earlier, when Shido flashed his cold, piercing gaze at them, she too had been affected by his devilish charm. A strange heat had rushed through her body, leaving her flushed and breathless though not to the same extreme as the overly eager vampire or the virgin succubus.
Even so, the sensation had been both confusing and oddly pleasurable. She quickly pushed those feelings aside, embarrassed at the thought of anyone noticing her reaction, especially with a battle still raging around them.
...
Back on the battlefield in the sky.
Shido stood completely unharmed, despite having taken a direct hit from the meteor. The Asura behind him had effortlessly dispelled the devastating impact, emerging without so much as a scratch, an undeniable testament to its abnormal power, capable of withstanding even 10th-tier magic with ease.
Without a word, Shido kept his arms crossed over his chest, silently commanding the Asura with his will.
At his command, the Asura moved in perfect synchronization. Suddenly, the sky dimmed slightly, and a colossal, multi-layered divine ring materialized behind the Asura, much like Shido’s own, but with far more layers, radiating an overwhelming pressure.
However, the move was only beginning.
As the Asura raised its palm, the sky grew chaotic. Bolts of lightning began crashing down one after another, and the darkened heavens started to churn, slowly spiraling like a massive whirlpool threatening to consume everything.
Demiurge, being the closest to Shido, felt a primal instinct flare within him, danger.
"Shit!"
He had fully intended to fight Shido to the end, but the moment the Asura moved, all thoughts of battle vanished. His survival instincts took over, and he abandoned any plan of resistance, his only thought now was to escape Shido’s range.
But it was too late.
He realized, with a cold chill, that he had already been locked in place by Shido’s will, trapped, unable to flee.
Yes, it was already too late.
He realized, with a cold chill, that he had already been locked in place by Shido’s will, trapped, unable to flee.
Yes, it was too late.
One of the asura’s hand was already rise into an offensive stand and the moment Demiurge tried to flee, the hand in the form of palm descended like a mountain.
Demiurge seeing that it was too late to flee even if he used Greater teleportation.
Demiurge made a split-second decision. He poured every ounce of his power into conjuring his strongest barrier, reinforcing it with layers of magic in a desperate attempt to withstand the blow.
But as he glanced towards the sky, his heart sank.
The sky itself had vanished, replaced by the shadow of an immense palm, blotting out all light. His vision dimmed, and in that final moment, all he could see was destruction bearing down on him.
The pressure from the palm could make anyone despair and loose all sign of hope the moment they were lock it by the attack.
’...How could I even win against that?’
Demiurge smiled helplessly, a bitter expression on his face was evident on his face. He felt powerless in the face of Shido’s overwhelming might. Regret gnawed at him, for his arrogance, for underestimating Shido, and for challenging someone so far beyond his reach.
That was his final thought before impact.
The colossal palm crashed down, effortlessly shattering the barrier he had so desperately conjured. It pierced through his defenses as if they were nothing, slamming directly into his body with devastating force.
BOOM!
"Arrghh!!!" Demiurge screamed as he struggled against the immense force of the descending palm, but it was futile.
His body shot down like a broken kite and crashed down directly into the center of the arena they had used earlier. The impact created a massive crater, tearing through stone and shattering most of the Amphitheater in a single overwhelming blow.
...
"Strong."
Sebas widened his eyes in shock as he stared at the place where Demiurge crashed down before he look at the demonic figure that could launch a powerful attack.
"Yeah."
Ainz nodded his head hearing Sebas words. Ainz scanned Demiurge’s condition from the sky and discovered that although he was heavily injured, it was not life threatening. Even if Demiurge died, he could be resurrected but Ainz didn’t want that to happen if possible.
After making sure that Demiurge was okay, he directly floated towards Shido causing everyone to worry, especially Shalltear and Albedo.
They didn’t know what to do if the two fought with each other. Fortunately, Ainz seemed to not have that kind of thought.
In just a few seconds Ainz appeared in front of Shido.
Shido just smiled seeing Ainz appeared but he was not afraid that he would make a move, instead he simply talk to him.
"You will not blame me for going all out, right?"
Ainz was stunned hearing Shido’ words as he didn’t expect him to say that first, but a moment later, Ainz broke into laughter.
"Hahaha, of course not. Why would I even do that?" Ainz laughed hard until a faint green light enveloped him, gradually calming him down.
Shido raised a brow, curious. He recognized the glow, it was likely a magic meant to suppress or calm emotions. Still, he replied
"I beat him to that state... and you’re not going to do anything?"
He gestured with a casual motion toward the crater, where Demiurge lay, his suit torn and his body motionless at the center of the destruction.
"It was a battle between the two of you," Ainz said calmly. "Regardless of the outcome, I had no intention of interfering. But I do hope you can put everything that happened between you aside."
Having regained his composure, Ainz’s tone was steady and diplomatic. After all, Shido was set to become the newest member of Nazarick. The last thing Ainz wanted was lingering conflict among them over a simple misunderstanding.
They weren’t like Albedo and Shalltear, who, despite their differences, still treated each other as fellow Floor Guardians. Resolving issues early was the wisest course.
Shido fell silent.
He didn’t speak, nor did he show any visible reaction. His eyes briefly flicked to the crater once more before returning to Ainz.
Ainz waited patiently, his expression unreadable behind his skeletal face. On the surface, he appeared composed, but internally, he was anxious.
Despite his poker face, Ainz couldn’t help but feel a growing tension in his chest.
However, Shido’s next words made him sigh in relief.
"Alright, but you should also tell him that since I also don’t want any necessary trouble."
He wasn’t the type to hold a grudge over something so minor, especially after gaining so much from the battle. Ainz could sense that as well and understood the logic behind Shido’s words. It was fair, and in fact, it was probably for the best. He had no complaints.
"Of course." Ainz replied with a nod. "I’ll make sure of it."
"That’s good." Shido said simply.
"Anyway, since you beat Demiurge, that means you passed the test. From this moment on, you’re officially a member of the Great Tomb of Nazarick."
He extended his bony hand toward Shido in a rare gesture of camaraderie.
"Welcome. I hope we’ll have a fruitful cooperation."
Shido smiled and reached out, clasping Ainz’s skeletal hand firmly.
"Likewise."
With that handshake, Shido officially became a member of Nazarick.
