Reincarnated As the Enemy's Wife: Married the Rival, Bound by Revenge-Chapter 287: The Pride of the Nation
Mr. Rowling was nearly seventy years old and his hair had turned all white, but still hale and hearty. He first greeted the crowd and then had his students and assistants perform the test with a set of special tools developed by himself.
"The test report is going to be released to the public, and today, we also welcome all piano lovers to try our products in an orderly manner," said Eva.
There were five piano sets on display today, and four more for trial.
Although the Smart Piano had received tons of criticism so far, the public curiosity was very much stimulated. Soon, visitors lined up to try the fruit of the newest technology.
The first to try out the new pianos were several children. Some reporters had set their cameras in the testing area to broadcast live the whole process. The rest of the media stayed in the main venue, waiting for Mr. Rowling’s test report. Eva also stayed in the main venue to answer the questions of the reporters.
Unexpectedly, the sound of a child crying suddenly came from the trial area.
Eva looked in the direction where the cries were coming from and found the crowd in a commotion.
Seeing this, Ralph said immediately, "I’ll go check on it."
"I’ll come with you," said Eva, rushing towards the site with Ralph.
Soon they arrived and found the cause of the disturbance was that a child said his ears hurt after using the Smart Piano. And it was not a single case. Several other users reported similar problems shortly after.
Some had pain in the ears; some claimed they suffered electric shocks while using the smart earphone; some were having headaches from wearing the headsets.
Through live streaming, Internet users around the world witnessed the incident.
Already prejudiced, people became even more agitated once they found out the scandalous problems of Smart Piano. Despite the truth remained unclear, they flooded the comment section with criticism and wanted to take her products off the shelves directly.
Pursing her lips, Eva cast a serious look at Ralph. Ralph said with a serious voice, "A low-level problem like leakage would never happen to our products. This must be staged."
That was also what Eva was thinking. She nodded slightly and walked towards the first boy who said his ears hurt.
"Hello..."
But before she could say anything, the boy had burst into tears.
"You’re evil! You ruined my ears to scam money! My ears hurt so much..." the boy
cried out loud.
Eva couldn’t tell whether the boy was really in pain, but his wailing was indeed infectious.
Many of the visitors were parents who were looking for a piano for their kids. Before, they had strong interests in the Smart Piano, but now, they inevitably felt hesitant.
In fact, they were not just hesitant. The little boy reminded them of their own kids and his crying was squeezing their hearts.
"Kid, where’re your parents? You should go to hospital as soon as possible!"
"How did this happen? What kind of pain it is? A sharp one?" a parent asked with concern.
Crying, the boy said, "It hurts... It hurts! I’m bleeding!"
Eva found the boy familiar, but she couldn’t recognize him. She walked forward and wanted to ask some questions.
...
"Kid, where’s your parents?"
"You evil woman! Go away! Get away from me!"
The boy ignored her question and kept crying. Not far away, several other kids were shouting in pain too. All of them had suffered different kinds of problems.
Some parents were furious. "What’s wrong with your pianos? Why are the kids in pain? Did you cut corners on these products?"
If it was a single case, Eva might have thought it was an unlucky accident, but having so many defective products at once was almost impossible. It must be a fraudulent scheme.
Eva walked towards the boy who cried first and said, "If your parents are not around, I’ll call an ambulance for you. When you arrive at the hospital, be a good boy and do as the doctors say, even if it means to take medicine and get painful injections."
Then she lowered her voice and whispered into the boy’s ears, "If the doctor thinks it’s better to cut your ear off, be good and don’t make a scene. But it would be a tragedy if you have to lose a good ear because, after the painful operation, you will never look the same again."
After saying that, she stood up and showed a meaningful smile.
As she expected, the boy was stunned. He looked at Eva as if he saw horns on her head.
Then Eva told the same thing to the other kids, and soon all of them quieted down in shock. They didn’t even dare to cry because they really didn’t want to see doctors.
Eva knew that these children must be misled by people with malicious intentions. Kids were innocent. When they were told that their lies would lead to serious consequences, they already regretted it.
At this moment, the medical staff of the exhibition came. The nurses wanted to examine the children’s conditions, but they all shouted that they felt much better. None of them was willing to go to the hospitals and even tried to run away.
Eva stopped the boy who cried first while all the others disappeared into the crowd.
"What do you want?" the boy said in a panic. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Tell me, why did you lie?"
"I didn’t lie! It was hurting but now I feel better!"
"Don’t be so careless. The symptoms may have disappeared, but the disease is still present. Let’s go to the hospital and have a full examination. The doctor knows better."
The little boy was too scared to utter a word.
"This crazy woman is so scary!" he thought, feeling terrified.
"I’m not going to the hospital! No! No!" he cried out loud.
Suddenly, someone in the crowd shouted, "Victor! What are you doing?" It was another boy of similar age.
Eva recognized the boy this time. When she was working at the orphanage a few years ago, she saw one of the teachers, Miss Stanton, was using corporal punishment on a boy. That boy had defended her and helped her to pick up a piece of chalk, and now he was standing right in front of her.
...
Tina Stanton left the orphanage after her abusive acts were exposed. Children at the orphanage thought their nightmare ended because Tina left on herself, but that boy had always remembered it was Eva who helped him.
And today, he came to the Convention Center with other kids because a strange man took them here. The man said the center was holding a Children’s talent show. Their task was to participate in the piano trial and pretended to be sick. The best actor would be able to leave the orphanage and become a real star.
So, when those kids said they were sick because of the Smart Piano, they were indeed faking it.
Those kids didn’t know it was all a scam, but that boy sensed something was wrong when he saw Eva’s picture outside of the center.
"This seems to be a conference held by Miss Loraine, and the Smart Piano is her product to be released. Why should we act sick at a conference? It’s not a filming studio. And why should we pretend the Miss Loraine’s piano hurt us?" the boy thought to himself. He knew something must be off.
"This is no talent show, Victor. We’re all fooled!"
Upon hearing this, Eva knew she had found something.
"Kid, what do you mean by that? And what talent show are you talking about?"
The boy immediately explained everything to Eva and the media.
"I see," said Eva, her eyes cold as frost.
"How dare him! The man not only took a group of minors out of their shelter but also induced children to slander," she thought. She had no idea who he was yet but was sure his behavior had constituted a crime.
Soon the police filed a case regarding the incident. The orphanage was under the jurisdiction of the local government and those children were protected by the law. Those who took advantages of orphans must be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, in the main venue, the analysis report of Mr. Rowling was also released.
Mr. Rowling did a sample test on these pianos. The report indicated that the AI system of Smart Piano should be considered advanced even by the international standard and there was no sign of false advertising. Such invention made a significant contribution to piano learning and was the pride of the nation.
Mr. Rowling’s words made the crowds burst into waves of cheering.
Mr. Rowling himself was very interested in the product too. "Miss. Loraine, may I ask what is the price for Smart Piano? I have always appreciated the beauty of the music but never had the chance to learn to play an instrument. With Smart Piano, I can teach myself at home!"
It appeared that Eva had found her first consumer.
Flattered, Eva answered earnestly, "The inventory of Smart Piano is low at the current stage, and therefore we are not prepared for mass distribution yet. We initially set the price of each piano at one thousand dollars."
"How much? One thousand dollars?" Mr. Rowling asked in surprise.
One thousand dollars was cheaper than any regular pianos people could find in the market, and it was even cheaper than most electric pianos.
Mr. Rowling was astonished because he understood even the AI system itself was worth more than one thousand. To buy a piano with such an advanced system, he was willing to pay 15 to 30 thousand.
"One thousand dollars... Is she being serious?" Mr. Rowling couldn’t help but ask himself.
