Reincarnated: I Became The First Warlord Of The World-Chapter 81
The Alphacrest soldier walked forward slowly, step by step, with a wide smile on his face. His eyes were sharp, and the corners of his lips twitched like he had already won. He didn’t even look worried.
At that moment he kept smiling as he stared at the giant earth wall where Jonathan was trapped inside.
"By now," he said with a cold voice, "his body should be breaking apart. Bit by bit. Like someone being roasted inside boiling lava."
He let out a soft laugh and crossed his arms.
"There’s no way out of that," he whispered to himself.
But just when he was about to talk again, a loud knock came from inside the earth wall.
BOOM! The sound shook the ground a little.
The soldier’s smile faded. His eyes twitched.
"Huh?" he muttered.
He took one step back, and his head tilted slightly. His eyebrows pulled close. That sound—that punch—was not ordinary. It was heavy. Strong. Like someone had hit the wall with a steel hammer.
It didn’t sound like a low-ranked skill. No. It sounded more like a B ranked skill, but... that made no sense.
The soldier shook his head a little. "That can’t be," he said under his breath. "Jonathan is only at the fourth stage. I saw the report. I read everything. He’s not from a noble house. He’s just a commoner... there’s no way..."
At that moment his fingers started twitching, and a little sweat ran down the side of his cheek, he stared hard at the wall, waiting. Listening.
"Even if he had the skill," he told himself, "his body shouldn’t be able to handle it."
He kept staring at the wall, but that knock... that knock from inside...It didn’t sound like someone begging to come out.
It sounded like someone getting ready to break the wall into pieces.
And the soldier—he didn’t like that sound one bit.
At that moment the Alphacrest soldier opened his mouth to speak, but suddenly, he paused.
Something didn’t feel right, his body froze for a second. A strange chill ran down his spine. It was like someone was standing right behind him, breathing softly near his neck.
His eyes widened, and slowly very slowly he turned around, his heart almost jumped out of his chest when he saw Jonathan standing there.
Right behind him, Calm, still, and looking directly into his eyes.
It didn’t make any sense. Just a few seconds ago, Jonathan was inside the earth wall. He should’ve been crushed or at least trapped. But now... he was standing here, like nothing happened.
The soldier’s lips trembled.
"H-How did you do that?" he asked in a shocked voice. "You were inside—"
Before he could finish that sentence, Jonathan moved.
Fast, too fast.
His right arm swung back with fire in it, and his whole body followed through as he slammed his fist right into the soldier’s face.
"Combo Punch!" Jonathan shouted.
"Ultra Plus!"
BOOM!! The impact was like thunder.
The Alphacrest soldier’s face twisted from the force as his whole body flew off the ground like a rag doll.
Immediately he smashed through one wall. Then another. Then another, bricks flew, Dust shot into the sky, People ducked and covered their heads.
He didn’t stop flying until he hit the fourth building, and this time, the whole wall collapsed with him in it.
CRASH!!
The ground shook, Smoke filled the air, and then—silence, the Alphacrest soldier was down. His body didn’t move again.
At that moment Jonathan stood in place, his chest rising and falling slowly. He didn’t say anything. He just looked at the direction the man flew and then turned back to check on the children.
He wasn’t ready for it, not even a little.
The Alphacrest soldier had been sure—so sure—that Jonathan was trapped inside the earth wall. His guard was completely down. He wasn’t thinking about danger. He was already smiling, thinking Jonathan was cooked alive like meat over hot fire.
But now...Now his whole body was frozen stiff. His eyes were wide like a man who saw a ghost in daylight. His mouth opened slowly but no sound came out.
At that moment he couldn’t believe it, Jonathan didn’t break the wall.
He didn’t blast it apart, there were no signs of damage on the stone.
And yet... he was outside. Standing. Alive. Calm.
How? The Alphacrest soldier blinked quickly, like his brain was trying to restart. "No... no, this is not real," he muttered under his breath, stepping back just a little. He could feel sweat sliding down the side of his face. His hands started to shake slightly.
He remembered what his superior once told him.
"Some people," the man had said, "some monsters, when they reach the grand master level... they can do things that break the laws of battle. They can vanish. Reappear. Walk through walls. Those people... stay away from them."
But this wasn’t supposed to be one of those people., this was Jonathan.
Just a young man, a commoner.
Someone who, according to records, was only at the fourth stage of his magical path.
There was no way—NO WAY—he could do something like that.
It didn’t make sense, It wasn’t fair.
The Alphacrest soldier’s throat tightened. His heart banged hard in his chest like a drum. He felt like the world had flipped upside down.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" he screamed out loud, his voice breaking like glass.
But deep down in his chest...He knew it was real, and that made it even scarier.
The Alphacrest soldier groaned and slowly pushed himself off the cracked ground. Dust clung to his face, and blood ran down the side of his mouth. His teeth clenched hard. His eyes were red with anger.
He stood up fully, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"I’m going to tear you up to pieces," he said through gritted teeth. His voice shook with rage.
His body was stiff. His fists tight like rocks. His boots scraped the ground as he took one heavy step forward.
He turned sharply to Jonathan’s direction—ready to strike, ready to scream.
But then...He froze.
His eyes grew wide. His lips parted slightly, Jonathan... was standing right in front of him.
So close, So calm, not even sweating.
At that moment the Alphacrest soldier blinked fast. "W-What?" he muttered under his breath.
How? He had turned just seconds ago and there was no one there.
He could feel it in his bones—he didn’t hear footsteps, didn’t hear wind. It was as if Jonathan had appeared.
The Alphacrest soldier’s eyebrows pulled together in confusion. He took one step back, breathing heavier now.
Jonathan didn’t move, he didn’t need to, his eyes were cold but steady. Focused. Sharp.
Inside his mind, Jonathan said the words once more, like a quiet promise to himself.
"Vanishing Steps."
That was the skill he used.
That was how he escaped the rock trap earlier... and now, that was how he stood right here, without a sound.
Jonathan kept his eyes locked on the Alphacrest soldier. His body didn’t move much, but his mind was sharp and steady.
At that moment Jonathan kept his eyes locked on the Alphacrest soldier. His arms hung loosely at his side, but inside, he was focused like never before.
He whispered to himself in his heart:
"Vanishing Steps."
That was the skill that got him out of the earth wall. It was fast. Too fast for the eye to see. And strong—strong enough to feel like a B-ranked skill. That’s why he didn’t need to break the wall. He just passed through it like wind slipping through cracks.
"He thought I was stuck," Jonathan thought, his lips pressing tight. "He really thought that was enough to stop me."
At that moment he looked at the soldier carefully.
Big arms. Thick legs. Heavy boots.
But slow, not slow in the brain, maybe, but slow where it mattered now—in the feet.
"Earth soldiers... always the same," Jonathan thought. "They punch hard, but they move like they’re stuck in mud."
He could feel the energy rising inside him again. His chest felt full, like a storm was waiting to explode. But it wasn’t anger—not wild rage.
It was something else, It was control, It was fire wrapped in calm.
It was his promise to fight until the last second for this land.
The Alphacrest soldier had no clue what was about to happen. He was standing there like the fight was just starting.
"He still thinks he can win."
At that moment Jonathan’s eyes narrowed. Not with hate. With purpose.
He thought about the kids he saw earlier. The ones trapped in the streets.
He thought about the burning houses.
He thought about the fear on people’s faces.
"I can’t play around," he told himself. "If I waste time, more people might die. I need to finish this. Fast."
His boots shifted quietly on the ground, He made up his mind.
The soldier won’t land a single punch. Not one.
Jonathan was ready, the Alphacrest soldier had already lost.
