Reincarnated in a Eroge Game With a SSS-Rank Taming System-Chapter 20: Step - A Good First Impression
Chapter 20 - Step 20 - A Good First Impression
Everything I had just said was dialogue that I remembered from the game.
That had been exactly how you would get Romie's attention inside the game.
However, there was only one minor problem from here on.
I had no idea how the Theory of Mana actually worked. As soon as she would ask more technical questions, then I would be totally doomed.
At least, I had made a decent first impression since she had answered me, which was already better than what most could have gotten.
The hardest was coming though.
"How did a servant get his hands on those books? I thought only noble born could access them?"
Fuck.
The main character was a noble. He had never been asked such a question.
Though, quick on my feet, I had the perfect answer for her.
"They are inside of the Vera Library and I was given access to it. I read most of the books inside it for fun."
I could see it on her face that she was impressed. Most servants would have never bothered to do such a thing. And she was right, I was just lying through my teeth. I hadn't read shit.
She seemed to be thinking about some things, still perched on her tree.
"Mhm..."
Then, she stood from the tree and jumped down from it.
She was high in the air.
At least one hundred meters high, never in a million years would have jumped from such a high place, but then just as she about to land on the ground... wind exuded from both her hands, slowing her down as she gracefully landed.
"You're... interesting," she said with a frown. "Though... you don't seem to have mana of your own. Are you not an awakened being?"
Impressive.
She had been able to tell with a glance.
And she was eighteen years old. There was a reason why she was the smartest heroine.
I looked into her eyes and surely enough, her status appeared before me.
[Taming Status: Romie Elowen]
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Status: Single
Strength: 28
Agility: 22
Intelligence: 60
Charm: 51
Loyalty: 0
Obedience: 0
Corruption: 1
Libido: 54
Affection: [♡♡♡♡♡]
Skills: Super Mind (Passive) Lvl.MAX
That skill, Super Mind, I knew what it was. It what made her the smartest character inside of the game.
She was able to understand any concept regarding everything within seconds because of it. It's what made her smarter than everyone else. I remembered how useful it would be to have her around since she would always be able to tell the solution to the game's puzzle or anything that would make you remotely think.
"Actually, I've come to your estate to awaken."
She frowned. "Is that so? Interesting... what kind of class do you think you will awaken?"
I shrugged. I had no idea. I didn't even know of all the classes from the original game and they weren't even shown on their statuses.
There were many classes that I could have, some rare, some common.
Though, deep down, what I wished for was for my class to be unique and rare at the same time. That would be like having a jackpot.
"I think I'll get a unique one... maybe?"
Romie didn't press further, but I could see her eyes scanning every part of me, like she was cataloguing information, building theories in her head. With that mind of hers, she probably had more conclusions than I could imagine.
"I'll be watching your Awakening from afar," she finally said. "I want to see what kind of class a servant with such... curious knowledge might awaken."
She turned around and walked away, her book tucked under her arm, long hair dancing behind her with every graceful step. Before she disappeared behind the hedges, she looked over her shoulder.
"Try not to disappoint me."
Her voice wasn't cold, just... sharp. Detached. But it carried a weight that lingered with me.
Then she was gone.
***
[Sariah's POV]
I had seen enough.
From the moment Romie Elowen had landed with that graceful wind-assisted descent, I knew something about this conversation would bother me—and of course, it did.
I'd been watching from a distance, half-expecting Zale to embarrass himself. But instead, he actually held her attention, saying things that no servant should or could know in the first place, which only made me more curious about him.
That girl, Romie, was brilliant and blunt—everyone knew that. She didn't waste her time on nonsense.
And yet, she spoke to Zale. Challenged him. And Zale had managed to reply correctly to her challenge. Not everyone could do something like that.
Even if I didn't want to, I was impressed by his knowledge and wits.
I stood hidden among the trimmed hedges of the garden, my hands clenched behind my back.
'Just what kind of game are you playing?' I narrowed my eyes at Zale. 'Going after Lady Vera and now after the daughter of the Elowens?
There was no magic pressure in the air. No skill activated. No spell I could sense.
Everything pointed in the direction that he had told me the truth earlier. But even then, I didn't trust him. I just couldn't. Everything about him was strange and seemed to happen randomly.
First Morgana. Now Romie.
I didn't like it.
I needed to do something even if it would require to "lie."
I turned away and made my way back through the estate.
Lady Vera needed to know that her "lover" was trying to charm another lady behind his back. And if it could make the two of them hate each other, that'd be great. That would be amazing actually.
Maybe she would ignore it.
But maybe—just maybe—I could make her see what I saw.
Maybe she would throw a tantrum?
Or maybe she will finally him for his true self?
A useless leech that was only after her power and connections.
