Reincarnated in the game world ~ A gamer's beginning to [Dungeon job hunting recommendation]-Chapter 584Vol. 11 - - The Grand Battle at 4th Fortress and Rina’s Unique skill «It’s time for Absolute Onslaught»
As in line with her job, Rina's unique skill was a mass buff skill—a skill that enhances allies' own skill damage, and strength of magic attacks for a limited period of time.
Also, the skill also lacked any condition for who that 'ally' could be, like if they had to be guild member or party member. Rina just had to acknowledge 'they're an ally,' and the effect would apply to them.
Similarly, even the guild member would be left out from the effect if Rina decided 'they're not an ally.' This would prevent the effect from being applied on the members of her guild «Eden». And now, all the forty something member of alliance squad received the effect of Rina's buff—while singling out any original guild members.
But utility aside, the one primary reason this unique skill had received the rave review was because of its application.
The overall stick of the skill was “exponentially increases the damage.” It didn’t simply buff the STR, no, what it buff was the ‘damage.’ Meanwhile, the regular skill that buffs attack or magic work by raising the STR or MATK stats.
In the game, you could only apply one type of buff at a time, with no possibility of it being overlapped. If the skill was the same, the buff would be simply refreshed, or in case of difference buff skill, whatever the skill used at the end would replace existing buff.
A huge majority of available support skills enhances either the attack, or the magic. Hence a damage modification support skill that didn’t fall in the same category was incredibly sought after. Since this skill modified the damage—and not the STR—the buff could be used with other buffs in tandem because they’re not applying on the same source.
And Rina’s unique skill further gained the highlight with its mass application effect, allowing her to buff any number of allies as long as they’re present nearby—or in this case, in the same square.
Needless to say, the unique skill’s true potential blooms during raid battle or event like «Capture the Castle» that we are on. The more the allies, the stronger their army.
It was also the reason why Rina had everyone retreat to 4th Fortress’s square.
“Cast your buffs on allies!”
Once she was done, Rina urged the rest of the supporters to follow with their strengthening buffs, further enhancing their allies.
Lamda, as soon as he saw support had done their work, rallied the next set of onslaught.
“Now everyone! It’s time to unleash our fury on opponent!!”
“OOOOOOOOHHHHH!!”
“With the power of Ekatrina-dono by our side, they’re nothing! However make sure you don’t chase them too far!”
“Huh?! The heck, why does it seem like their momentum is growing? Anyway, take it. Haa—aaaaaarrrrg!?”
“Kyaa! *Cough* No, it can’t just end like—”
The force of Class-1 and Class-8 had just taken their steps into the 4th Fortress square, when they were greeted with a furious onslaught, delivering a huge amount of damage to them.
“Rrrgh! W-we’re losing members!”
“How are their attacks so strong now!!?”
“Did they use some kind of hidden potion of what!?”
A series of bewildered voices escaped from Class-8 members. They hadn’t thought the same enemy they had forced to run for their lives would suddenly double down on them with such strong counterattack. The sudden situation had even mowed down two of their classmates.
As long as they had Noel’s buff, Lacritta’s skill, and Mert and Reglam as leader, they could cross many hurdles with the cooperation. Hence, the sudden turnaround was like dumping water over the fire.
Alliance squad also saw the confusion within Class-9, and concentrated more of their firepower in their direction.
“Fall back now! Reorganize the lineup!”
Reglam saaw the change in discourse and promptly pulled the trigger to retreat. And since everyone had been utterly confused as what to do, Reglam’s words was like gospel to them, and put all their effort into retreat.
“This must be the work of Rina’s unique skill «It’s time for Absolute Onslaught». That means she’s in this fortress. Hmm, then I am going out for a while, Mert. Make sure to relay information to Class-8.”
“Very well, and yes, take care of it. —Noel, Lacritta. Come with me.”
Seeing the Class-8 falling back, the alliance naturally followed them.
Zephyr left Mert side and moved to where Class-1 was, and explained his strategy.
“Sierra, you all will wait here. Wait for my signal, and then bring out your shield.”
“Alright.”
“And you’re coming with me, Ester, Pamela. We need to distract alliance first!”
“Understood!”
“Roger-desu!”
“Great, follow after me! Oryaaaa!!”
“H-hey! Brave is here! Brave has jumped at the frontline!”
The alliance was going all gung-ho, crashing toward Class-8 but they suddenly flinched back when they saw Brave jumping on the scene.
“Heya, everyone~! Isn’t it fun to stand out meaninglessly? «Appeal»!”
“Geh!?”
“W-what was that just now? What type of skill did he use!”
“I-I think it hit me!”
Zephyr jumped into the fray, and invoked his innocuous taunt skill.
He took a pose like taking a selfie, and promptly, the effect of skill spead out in dome shape, applying to enemies and ally alike.
The alliance had already been rendered helpless once by Brave, so his activation of another skill had everyone else at their toe, now their gaze focusing on him.
It could be said, Appeal was super effective. Of course, when the others saw no visible effect, a confusion spread among them. But the same confusion allowed Class-8 to retreat successfully.
“Brave party is coming to attack! Fall back, and smit them together!”
Lamda realised that Rina’s buff was more effective when they all launched their attack in tandem, so he stopped his chase on Class-8, and hurled a stream of ranged attack toward the Brave and his party.
Brave might be strong, and even have an advanced job, but even he should found it hard to cope against attacks with modified damage.
Albeit, Zephyr seemed to have predicted this very move.
“«Master-Planner» Princess is strong. It’s a deal breaker especially in a base like this, that is crawling with allies. However on the flip side, you can only harness its true worth from one location. And this is its weak spot, a place so bustling with people would arise the chances of friendly fire.”
Of course, the accidental attack from allies—a.k.a friendly fire—only deal 5% of the attack original damage. This had been the thing in game, and still applies in reality too. *The HP really does work in a wondrous way, doesn’t it?
It was commonplace knowledge that using ranged attack to target a small group was far better than engaging in melee combat if there was disparity in numbers. As that would avoid probable cases of friendly fire. After all, that could eliminate their own party member.
So, it was for this reason Lamda first announced the alliance to retreat before moving on with their ranged attack.
“Well, well. Guess my time to back down too.”
Affirming that alliance had stopped chasing after Class-8, and earning them a valuable time to regroup their formation, Zephyr also back down with a content expression. The task was accomplished with finesse.
He took a U-turn along with Pamela and Ester and arrived near the edge of square.
“! Where do you think you’re running? Everyone, attack!”
A shower of long-ranged attack immediately follow at Lamda’s command, but—
“Sierra, your turn!”
“—«Divine Shield»!”
The four autonomous shield of Sierra left her side and jumped in front of Zephyr and team, joining each other to form a huge cross shield, defending against the incoming attack.
