At the forefront, Tomoyo pulled an impressive feat and prevented the charge of «Dungeon Carriage».

No, wait, what? I-I did it?! Though it appeared Tomoyo herself had been flabbergasted by her feat.

It wasn't her fault. Only a few would've been confident to say they could stop the bolting carriage. Though right now wasn't the time to marvel at her achievement, She nudged herself when Lana's words echoed.

"We're here, Mert! Ester, time for equipment change! We're making a breakthrough immediately!"

"I got it!"

"R-right away, Lana-sama!"

Ester, too, recovered from her initial wide-eyed expression, though more so due to the command being given by their princess—oh wait, it appeared her tension had yet to drop however.

The door to the carriage flung open wide, followed by the appearance of Mert and his teammates as they charged into Class-12 direction.

The spectacle changed the initial jolly shouts Class-12's members had been making—much in cheer for Tomoyo, like 'Wohoo!' or 'You're amazing Tomoyo!'—to shrieks.

"A-are you alright, everyone?!" A concerned Tomoyo shouted, tried to return, but—"I wouldn't be so quick to move! I am your opponent! —«Full Throttle Drive»!"

"Wh—ahh!"

It was Ester. She had jumped out of the carriage, changed her equipment back to «Azure Cogwheel» and charged at Tomoyo. She had already kept her equipment close to the driver's seat in expectation of quick events for this sort.

Tomoyo was made to spin and face Ester. Ester had an opportunity to strike Tomoyo when her back was facing her, but that would've gone against her knight code.

She was strong, Ester could perceive that. Tomoyo's initial evaluation might have put her in Class-12 at first, but she had come a long way since then. She had been a student of Brave's lecture since Day 1st, and as one of the Brave fans, she had devoted herself to learn all that was taught by working together with her fellow comrades.

Though, for the same reason as Sierra, her deployment was at frontline, hence Akemi, her follower, had been the one to shoulder the role of leadership of Class-12. There was no contest however; she was their strongest.

"«Long Thrust»!"

"«Shield Flick»!"

*CLAAANG!!*

A dull echo of metal clashing reverberated around, with Tomoyo's shield easily blocking Ester's mid-range attack. Her proficiency in handling shields was next to Sierra, and it was wise judgement that she used a skill, or Tomoyo would have broken her stance if she had used normal attack. Ester heightened her vigilance as she analysed the aspects of her opponent.

But much in the same vein, Tomoyo, too, was startled. The might behind Ester's strike was nothing to scoff at. Shield Flick was a defense skill, allowing users to deflect attacks, allowing them to dodge. So theoretically, lingering damage should barely be anything to worry about. But in just one instance, she had lost 30 points of HP. 'Just what kind of monster you're?!' She really had wanted to retort back. (T/N - Sierra’s HP stayed at approx 700 value when she choose advanced job)

Tomoyo shook her head and focused on her current situation. She was alone, with no hint of recovery support, and there was no one with an offensive job to bring her opponent down. She couldn't hold the battle of attrition herself; she knew it would only end with her slowly losing her HP until nothing's left if the earlier result was anything to go by.

She worked her brain, trying to guess if she could join with any of her allies. But with her earlier display of blinding agility, she shook that idea off. Ester would catch her before she could achieve anything.

She hoped for reinforcement that was bound to drop, but it was all crickets around as of yet. It was wishful thinking from her part; it's beyond hope to seek alliance reinforcement when they'd just split up.

The sole ace up her sleeve was «Shield Cymbal», a skill that «Stun» the opponent. It was a solid skill, but not without its kryptonite; she had to be in close proximity as the action during skill activation simply consisted of banging two shields against each other while the target's face was between them.

On the other side, Ester's agility was unparalleled, and she had made sure to keep a balanced spear-length gap between them. She would step back the same step her opponents step forward. She couldn't pin her down in one place.

"What kind of hellish matchup was this?!" She cursed inwardly, her expression twitching at the situation.

"—«Legion Thrust»!"

"—«Shield Wall»!"

Once again, Ester unleashed a flurry of stabbing motion with her speed, and then drew an arc in the air.

As she had expected, the residual damage, however miniscule it was, continued to chip away on her HP.

"Why does it have to me?!" She inwardly shouted, trying to parry Ester's attack. However if there was one thing Ester had learned while practising fighting at frontline together with Sierra was the importance of parry. She had learned adequate techniques to prevent that. She was blending a combo of normal attack amidst feint, while also occasionally using skills, preventing Tomoyo from catching up to her pattern.

Though she might have kept Tomoyo at bay, Ester, too, couldn't break Tomoyo's defense.

"You are quite competent."

"Thank you for the compliments! Say the same to Brave-kun for me!"

While struggling with her desperation, Tomoyo accepted the praise incoming, though she also shrewdly slipped her appeal to Brave-kun. And Ester didn't crush her hope, since Zephyr did ask them to pay attention if there's any gem among the class matches.

"Alright, you've my words."

"Whoa, what, for real?!"

"You showed an opening!"

"Ack!"

What a blunder. Tomoyo ended up jumping when she heard those dear words, displaying a crevice between the guard of her two shields. Ester immediately delivered an attack.

Fortunately, she immediately amended her mistake, once again solidifying her defense. Plus the damage was bare minimum, as it had been a normal attack, the sole glimmer.

"T-That was such an insidious move!"

"Huh, I believe It was a common phrase."

Ester simply brushed off Tomoyo's indignation-filled remark. She had intent to follow with her words, though how Tomoyo tripped by her own imagination was something that's entirely Tomoyo herself fault. A deplorable aspect of the Brave fans.

Meanwhile, Tomoyo felt herself being chased to a corner. Slowly, but surely, her HP was dwindling down. 'Oh Lamda, Lamda. Where are thou?' She involuntarily prayed for one of their alliance pillars to show up. Alas, she was destined to feel despair.

"It's my turn now! Support incoming, y'll! —«Saintess's Prayer for Healing»! Come forth, my sword of light—«Sacred Shining Saber»!"

Another opponent, their Her Highness, one they couldn't miss out on, stepped forward.

Four giant swords, a product of brilliance materialising in a tangible shape, hovers in the sky.

Though she might be out of bound from their current square, that was barely a trouble for Lana who had «White Throne» within her grasp, allowing her to deal ranged damage, ignoring any damage reduction.

Lana was sitting on «White Throne», just next to «Thunder Javelin», her hands folding in prayer. Tomoyo wondered what she was praying for.

All the opposing force gathered at Class-12 found themselves gaping at the giant swords of light, a panic drew out among them as far as eyes could see once the giant swords rained down above them. The contact ensues, and... the defending members as well as guardian monsters were all blown away.

"Charge forward, my blades! You're not getting any respite—«Sacred Shining Saber» «Rise of the Sacred Tree!» «Sacred Sword»! «Holy Pillar»!"

"Eeeek! T-take a cover quick, everyone. Get out of the range!!"

"Woah, hey, what happened to the signal?! Give us time to dodge too!"

Glimmering in the aura of MVP, Lana unleashes her entire repository.

Many spells dropped right in the middle of confrontation Mert's team were having against the opponent's defense. In the aftermath, many of the defenders were shrouded in radiance before disappearing from their sight. Of course, it was a close call to Mert and his team.

It seemed her highness had skipped the friendly fire part. Since Class-8 was no a part of Class-1, they didn't have the damage resistance after all.

On the other hand, the spells had even eliminated the guardian monsters at once. To Class-12's members, it was like a glimpse of hell, a ground razed to nothingness.

Mert and team immediately sprang up to take their action, lunging at their opponent as they remained shaken in their boots.

"It's an onslaught, everyone! Time to bring down Class-12!"

" "Let's goooo!!" "

Mert's words were immediately met with a war cry from his teammates, and they charged inside.

Ester caught up with the imminent aftermath, and said her final piece to Tomoyo.

"It's about time to settle our match, eh? I'm Ester, and it's a pleasure meeting you."

"Uh... yes. I'm Tomoyo, and make sure to tell this to Brave-kun, alright?"

"I will. Now prepare yourself—«Full Throttle»! «Raging Spear War Dance»!"

"«Double Shield Bash»!"

Tomoyo and Ester unleashed their trump cards, reaching for a conclusion.

Ester's 4th order skill «Raging Spear War Dance» when coupled with «Full Throttle» allows her to guide the charged up spear strike at her discretion.

Tomoyo, too, knew a single defense skill wouldn't do anything, so she channeled everything on her «Double Shield Bash» closely followed by «Shield Cymbal»—the same skill combo that brought down Jilong. Alas, this time she was outmatched.

"Kyaaa——"

Ester's agility was nothing to scoff at. She easily dodged the shield ram attack, and struck Tomoyo with her charged spear, destroying her defense and scattering the remnant of HP.

A few moment after Tomoyo's elimination, Class-12's base went down just as fast by courtesy of Class-8

—Ultimately, Class-12's rank was fixed to 6th position in the leaderboard.
