Phew. It was indeed a rare boss. I could put down a stone from my heart. Honestly, if it had been a miss, then the situation might have become a bit tricky. It was a bit early to reveal our boss' farming method to Tabase-senpai, and we're running out of time to kick off the second dungeon run.

"I am taking the helm, then."

Following the information I had explained, Sierra stepped forward alone, just as the strategy was laid out.

"Buuuggyaahhh!!"

And the rare boss emerged from the magic circle.

Appearance wise, the rare boss took after a plant bulb in shape. It was still in its first form as a giant bulb rose up from the ground, with leafy stalks extending off its body. At the top of the bulb, a tulip was in its full bloom, bright vermillion in color.

The roots spread in the surrounding from its lower body, squirming like living snakes. Honestly, the lack of any ferocious design made it a bit cute for eyes, or well, would have made it had the rare boss wasn't a giant. It was at least 10 metres tall.

Without wasting any moment, the «Tri-Tu» made its first move—Seed Bomb. The Tulip part turned in the direction of Sierra, and shot five seeds—each one meter in length—at her.

It was a pretty troublesome move to unaware. If you'd charged with the whole party together, damage would've been inevitable, and this was its default opening move. This attack also ignored any aggro, and would focus on nearest target, hence Tank must be forwarded first.

"«Shield Bash»!"

A tank had two options in this situation; either endure the Seed Bomb, or be courageous and dashed forward for a shield bash. However, Taunt was never recommended. The boss would've already fired its skill before the tank could've completely taunted the enemy.

Anyway, Sierra went forward with «Shield Forward» skill. A daring choice. If one wasn't skilled enough, the attack could've easily drowned the tank, delivering critical damage right at the opening. I guess she'd been deliberately taking a risky choice to see Tabase-senpai's quick response.

"Haa!"

"Bugya?!"

But, she prevailed, unsurprisingly. The Seed Bomb exploded in her background—instead of being dangerous, they played more the role of BGM—as she closed the distance with the rare boss, and slammed her skill.

She had easily dodged all the bullets.

"—«Aura Point»! «Taunt»! «Shield Smite»!"

Finding her rhythm, she jumped to attract «Tri-Tu»'s aggro. All of them were 3rd order skill tree, so I presume she was holding back for today's star performance. After all, if she had used autonomous shields, Tabase-senpai wouldn't have got the turn at all.

Alright, since now that our tank had rare boss's aggro, it was our cue to jump in the scene.

"Reglam, you take the left, and Aegis, take it from the right."

"Understood."

"I got it! —«Charge»!"

With my command, our two attackers shifted to an offensive stance.

Aegis propped up her shield, and gripped lance on others, taking a low stance. The «Charge» skill allows the user to increase the might of their next move by focusing. The power up was significant; ranging from 50% increase in might to 200% if the leading attack was a charged rush. It was also a frequent move «Knight» employed. Ester didn't have it though, since she often uses «Carriage».

"«Spear Assault»!"

Aegis dashed off from the right, and unleashed her attack.

"Gyaaahhh!"

Bullseye. The spear stabbed through the target in perfect motion. Next, it was my turn.

"«Lightning Burst»!"

"Gaahhh!?"

I opted for the spell to target the monster's flower part—it's weakness. The usual practice was to have the tank locked against «Tri-Tu», halting its movement, while the others would bombard it with fire magic. Or, you could target it with a frontal attack like our strategy.

"Gurrrahh!!"

"«Citadel Shield»!"

"«Momento Sword»!"

"«Gale Thrust»!"

«Tri-Tu» rampaged, lashing out with roots and leaves in an AoE fashion. It was the primary attack method of the rare boss. And needless to say, melee against such a boss was a fool's errand. Plus, each of its roots were capable of inflicting debuffs randomly. Hence, the presence of a competent healer was required against it, to provide a quick recovery as well as dispel.

"«Rite of Recovery! «Full Healing Rite»! «Holy Water Rite»! «Rite of Enhanced Immunity»!"

Tabase-senpai followed with recovery magic, and healed the vanguard members. The first two spells were to heal HP by a certain amount and complete amount respectively. «Holy Water Rite» dispelled the «Poison» abnormal status ailment Aegis had gotten, meanwhile «Rite of Enhanced Immunity» raised the party's debuff resistance.

"Tabase-senpai, you don't need to hold back—nah, scratch it. I would like to see your best moves."

"Best moves? Alright. Come forth, Shikigami of Substitue—«Six-Turn Changes Rite»!"

At my urging, Tabase-senpai promptly activated another skill.

It was a 4th order skill. She hoisted up the wand straight, and in the wake, six shikigamis appeared behind her, floating.

Meanwhile, the battle continued, and «Tri-Tu»'s root lashed out at Aegis, who tried to block it with her shield, but failed.. Aegis looked to see the debuff she would be inflicted this time, but... that didn't happen.

Instead, one of the shikigami floating behind Tabase-senpai turned dark, and disappeared.

"H, Huh. Nothing happens?"

"Aegis, Tabase-senpai will be taking away your debuffs, so keep pushing through!"

"Understood!"

Transferring the debuffs on teammates to herself. This was the essence of Senpai's skill. With each debuff she substitutes for, one of the six shikigamis behind her would disappear, lasting for six turns. Taking the troubles of others, it's much like a miracle from «Messiah».

"Then, I will proceed with support. —«Spirit Conjuring Rite - Four Step»!" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Next, she invoked a 4th order spell, summoning offense oriented shikigami.

However, this one was a tad different. Senpai brought a stuffed toy—it was big, and closely resembling white tiger—from her «Item Box». If I hadn’t known better, my jaw might have dropped at the ridiculous scene, but it was an important cornerstone in the 4th order spell—it was the item which would house the spirit she was summoning.

Spirit Conjuring often required peculiar items to breathe life in it. At the beginning, but not limited to them, it would be something like stuffed toys, and such items came in «Spirit Medium» category. Breathing life in an inanimate object was another of «Messiah»'s miracles.

Back to Senpai, the white tiger doll's eyes shone abruptly, and as if lifeforce was being channeled in, it grew larger till it was two and a half metres tall.

"Please."

"———"

"Buuyaa?!"

"Woah?"

Tabase-senpai commanded the white tiger, and as if it truly was a sentient being, it followed her words and leapt at «Tri-Tu», launching its offensive from Sierra's flank. A perplexed voice escaped from Sierra when she watched it, despite her experience with the shikigamis of Journeying Demon.

"Ah, «Tri-Ne» is entering its second phase."

After taking a repeated blow from our party, the rare boss HP had been lowered enough for it to switch into the second phase. Soon, rosebuds crept out of the ground like vines, and began to shoot seeds all around. There's no direction to the attack, it was a wide AoE attack. There had been no additional effect to the seeds, except causing pure physical damage.

"«Healing Rite»!"

Tabase-senpai saw the situation, and wasted not a single moment to cast another healing on vanguards.

Meanwhile, «Tri-Tu» continued its transformation to the second phase. It began with ominous looking purple leaves growing over it, then the vermillion tulip head gradually shifted in the same ominous purple.

It also gained new attacks, with now spells mixed among them, however as reliable as ever, Sierra continued to hold her ground even with minimum.

The stuffed white tiger doll also absorbed some of the attacks, while launching its own offensive. But eventually it couldn't, and it returned back to its inanimate state. It was the default setting for summons to disappear when they'd received fixed damage.

One of the root vines slapped it away. We would be retrieving it later.

Minutes flew by, and soon, the rare boss was over its second phase, and geared up to assume third and fourth phase subsequently. And at the closing act, it assumed its final form—The Floral Queen of Insanity. The flower head had gained more distinct facial features, closely resembling humans, with fangs peeking out. She appeared like a monster who would chew you right away if you accidentally got too close.

"......They're all strong."

"Ain't they? Well, they're the ones I am proud of, so of course."

I bragged as Senpai showed her surprise at everyone's performance.

But if you ask me, they could bring out their best because of a competent healer. A major roadblock against «Tri-Ne» was its ability to apply all sorts of abnormal status ailments, like «Poison», «Paralysis», «Sleep», «Instant Death», or «Confusion». Yet, they couldn't pass over Senpai's ability.

As I had said, the best party couldn't be without its tank and healer, eh. They're the safety nets.

"Ah, the boss is preparing to launch its unique skill! Fall back, Aegis, Reglam! Sierra, use autonomous shields. You wouldn’t want to lack in defense here!"

Before long, the rare boss turned for its strongest move. I had immediately called our attackers to retreat. You miss them out, and wham, attackers would be the first to be knocked out of the battle.

"«Quad Aegis of Virtue»!"

Sierra followed my instruction, and invoked the defensive skill, the four small shields attached to her now floated in the air.

"Buyaaaa!"

"—«Divine Shield»!"

This duration was enough for the rare boss to also take its stance, and in the next moment, bursts of roots sharpened like spears, giant seeds, and razor sharp leaves followed in a straight line like a meteor shower. —Tu-Tu-Tulip Style: Evil Seed’s Drifting Leaf Swarm. It was the name of its unique skill.

The wide-area attack in a straight line charged toward Sierra, who had her autonomous shield interconnected in a cross pattern via skill «Divine Shield.».

"Wow, she didn't even budge. I mean, I have seen it played out in the interclass competition, but those shields truly are like castle walls."

"Hehe, I know, right? Well, that's how talented our sub-guildmaster is."

Tabase-senpai's eyes widened as she witnessed that. Of course, we had already withdrawn from the range of attack, and watched the proceeding.

«Tri-Tu»'s unique skill was unaffected by the aggro, and would target the closest person there was in a consecutive burst fashion. Moreover, the rare boss could also control the direction of its attack, so if the target moves, «Tri-Tu» would shift the direction of unique skill in that direction.

So, whoever the target was, they had no choice but to tank it, and the optimal choice was a tank with a shield. I had Sierra block the unique skill, while we continued to unleash our attack from the flanks.

"Reglam, let's bring it to Downed status."

"Sounds fine with me. «Lightning Flash»! «Six Iridescent Slashes»!"

"Bugyaa!"

It was easy to bring a boss into Downed status if the situation permitted, and there was no «Dungeon Activity» player who would miss out on it. We had already confirmed the ability of Tabase-senpai enough, so it was time to wrap it up. So—

"Everyone, go all out!"

And the rare boss didn't last long, and ultimately disappeared under the barrage of our attack. With its disappearance, it left behind two «Gold Chests» behind. One of them had an «Advanced Job Ascension Ticket».
