Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 126
The next few minutes are a blur, I remember walls made of cobblestone, others from smooth to wrinkled and twisted like a land without water, I remember grasping something in despair, my wind whip barely forming with the hungry beasts awake and thirsty for more of my magic, my pressure drooping from the abuse use of magic and the without of my evolution.
By the time I reach a safe place the warning sound is blasting fiercely in my ears, from 5 minutes to 5 seconds dings that keep warning me of the dangers of withholding my evolution for too long, as if I could not feel it in myself at that point, almost as if I had a beast inside ready to burst out.
I remember the pain snapping and crushing at my muscles and bones, making it hard to think, to see, to focus as I barely remember falling, going down, and down, and then... squeezing up somewhere without much time left anymore.
I have to choose, have to choose now!
Dark Frost Griffin – Embedded with the color of the night, in exchange of the Wind element you will receive a Dark attribute that lets you dash through shadows, and command them at will, but the user’s body becomes unstable in the ethereal plane.
Tempting, but I have no wish to change elements, especially my strongest and most useful one when it comes to flying too, plus that ethereal thing seems too ominous for my liking.
Quick now, next evolution:
Metal Ice Griffin – As stunning as sharp with a body coated in metal this one is still able to fly however not as well for how heavy its full ore body weight, its increased defense will cost a lot in regards to stamina and speed, known to be a tank in the sky and-
No, losing my hard tuned ability to dodge and move swiftly around the sky does not seem to be interesting to me, next!
Did not think my so awaited evolution would have to be so utterly dismissed like this, with no time to ponder and choose carefully...
Ding – Warning, withholding your evolution may cause serious damage.
Yeah, I know I know, just let me read it already and stop bothering me for a second will you? Going as fast as I can through all of this.
Cloud Astral Griffin – Enhancing the Wind element, the griffin with be very light and fast, however is has no physical resistance whatsoever and will lose haft of the user’s health to-
It was good at the start, but wait, lose haft my health? Dingy thingy, do you even realize how low my HP already is?
Diamond Blizzard Griffin – A honed version of Dainty Blizzard Griffin, being the direct evolution of such carries and enhances its beautiful characteristics, however as a Diamond it has more than appearance only, it hardens one’s spirit and heart.
A beautiful engraved sharp knife cuts as well as an average looking one... 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
As much as pains me to admit it seems that what can be considerate the sequel to my most disastrous evolution option thus far is the best option among all, and even though I wish to get rid of such spectrum given to me by it I much rather choose the best and strongest option that fits in with my line of thought and training thus far, Defensive Elemental Magic allied with swift movements, more than one way of defense and attack.
I grunt as I lower myself and Ethan to the ground, blurry vision almost double from tiredness, making me barely see the words in front of me, but even though, contrary to my wishes, I knew I would have to rest soon, I knew too that not choosing an evolution before that could cost me greatly, so a decision must be taken at this moment, no delaying any further.
Tempting as it is to have more defense with Metal Ice Griffin or more attack as a glass cannon Cloud Astral Griffin, I’ve always been the type to think that equilibrium between status and abilities is the key to success, such is my discomfort for having been born with this difference right of the bat, but to willingly chose any that may increase the disadvantage in some sort of way... did not sit well with me.
So it is without hesitation that, after thinking it over as long as I could, that I chose the Diamond option.
Plus it sounds cool, in name and description.
At that moment, when I feel a weight has been lifted out of my body for finally choosing an evolution, is when I manage to give Ethan a proper look before the next stage overtakes me, and with him secured in my arms I make sure that we stay in a way that I do not risk letting him go and into the fog’s embrace once more.
"Little fox, I have a favor to ask, I have to take a little nap, can you stay on guard for me?" I can already feel the strange burning and yet lethargic sensation crisscrossing my body, running through my veins, clouding my mind and dragging the words in my mouth.
"We... we shouldn’t be here." I barely register his words, however, as my head feels heavy and my eyes unfocused on the walls, a deep restless sleep threatening to take me when suddenly there is movement in my arms.
As if pushing a made of heavy solid rock door open I manage to open my eyes in the slightest, but when I look down a pair of crimson horns greet me coming out of a full mane of white hair, the obsidian skin contrasting greatly with mine where our bodies touched.
"Ethan?" I call softly, unsure what to do with him in his demon form, wondering if he was hurt in any way, but wounded and exhausted as I was myself I had little to nothing to help him in my condition.
At least that I knew of, but Ethan’s inner demon had other plans for us, and my worry for him changes to worrying about myself when, unsure of his strange behavior, realize that something is more than wrong when the hand around my arm tightens its grip into a harmful embrace, when I notice that I am unable to move under such extreme force, when my low voice saying his name does not reach him as Ethan’s face comes to mine.
And a shudder runs up and down my body when I look at those golden eyes surrounded by the black void, devoted of the man in there as the beast who only knows hunger stares right back at me, deep into my very marrow, ferocity that, for the first time in my life, manages to paralyze me in fear under his gaze.
That is, before he pounces and bites me in the neck.
