Chapter 169: Chapter 169

To make an entire place, building and barrier on the style she most liked as her cage is of a very terrible taste, almost as if choosing to feed a person their favorite food only for months on end until what once was good became so twisted and misused that only the terrible memories of it remained. π‘“π‘Ÿβ„―π˜¦π“Œπ˜¦π˜£π‘›π‘œπ“‹π‘’π“.𝑐ℴ𝓂

But I guess if this is the worst he has done to her then I could count myself lucky.

I take a deep breath so that the overflowing emotions don’t overtake my senses, not now, not when I am so close.

As I ponder how to get in, and what aversive reaction there may be in this magic in brute forcing my way in, I actually see the opportunity to invade when something intertwined with our attack before hand unfolds as a group of soldiers go out as reinforcements to the rioet we caused and heads towards the exit as the double heavy wooden door starts opening up for them.

"Aaron, thank you for guiding us here but this is where we part ways." I say while beating my wings hard to stay put in the air, keeping a safe distance away from prying eyes.

"No way, I want to hel-"

"No, this is more than enough, and you already have your hands full, your people will need every strong arm they can get." I say but give him no time to answer, or rather, have no time to give as the door finally opens up and a group of soldiers marches out, making me dive fast towards the entrance and leave Aaron fast behind while Ethan holds onto my neck fur as his life depends on it.

To be fair stealth has never been my strongest point, and even though I am an owl and my wings naturally do not make as much sound as other flying animals I had neither focused nor trained such traits already present in me, only seeing the need not long ago while reading some abilities in the Frozen Book that worked in that regard, and with so little time to train them they are all low level.

Still they are better than nothing, and I use my speed to my favor and more than one ability at once to get in unnoticed and overcome such details.

So I start by making a carpet of Crystal Dust Cloud that could not cover the entire field because of the level but the area it covered advanced with me on the ground, a type of mist coming their way as the door opens, and to overcome the low level I add my other ability, Ice Mirror, warping around me to the mix, and as much as it can’t make me invisible it reflects back well enough, plus the white background and the misty surroundings aided by my top speed manage to turn me into a mirage, ghastly the second I pass the group.

It is very useful to have your own Magic Guide book to teach yourself a few new tricks from time to time as I increase my knowledge in elaborated spells, although it only shows magic regarding the Ice element, still there is plenty my own mind can come up with to use with the Wind element too.

So with the intention of not lacking in regards to stealth, even though I have not an ounce of talent in that, I made it into a combo of magics, a hobby of mine of not only combining runes but spells as well, and the Frozen Book gave me some ideas as to how this works too before using it, and with guidance and a kin eye to magic I manage it all together somehow.

Plus beyond having that knowledge available to me I even got the Appraisal magic and names and descriptions given by it to map it all up, the inside information that most did not have being quite handy, knowing already that abilities did not come at random and can be made if criterias are achieved, like learning how to swim by going in a river, and as most are not able to see the data of it all it is actually quite hard to find someone like me so is able to create spells from scratch.

Thinking that I could simply barge in with a sturdy Ice Shield in front of me and pull everyone aside and save mother... such thoughts were childish at best but I do not regret focusing my studies on magic, after all is just a step and some training away from getting all types of magic available, though it may not be the best to have a shinning shield and a shinning presence while trying to rescue someone who could easily be snatched away while I was still looking for her.

Still we press on as I land on top of a building, holding my breath for a whole minute as I land with the utmost care, padded paws made for a smooth landing but not as much for gripping as a bird’s talons would have, and a small misstep of my hind leg makes part of the roof to slide, making me watch in silence while thinking that if it reaches the end and falls down on the ground with a loud crack all this magic would be for naught and the guards would be quickly alerted of our presence by the carrying sound of a roof piece smashing into pieces, making me hold my breath and wait for a divine intervention at best.

Thankfully though it stops just around the curve of the roof, saved by the style of the architecture that has the edges curved up and hold the roof piece before falling, and for a moment with my eyes still glued in that piece I steady my breath and my body and feel the roof under my paws, sinking my claws and stabilizing myself, mentally and physically.

I wait for the troops to leave and the main double doors to close once they are taking the air to even breathe normally, but now that they are gone and the place is quiet and I have secured my position I think that things are going well so far, even better if you consider we managed to save our strength so far until now, barely scratching the surface of my Mana.

"Come now, gentleman, follow me on a trip will you?!" But I think all is well way too soon as things can go down south fast, I think while I suddenly hear Aaron scream from above, his figure very clear on the side as he stands there, flying in the sky, arms up and calling the attention of the group of soldiers and griffins that just went out.

"What the hell does he think he is doing?" I whisper to Ethan, no sound barrier on this magic yet, one of the flaws that I had not come up with a solution in such a short time period yet.

"Doing what you told him to do, protecting his people." I have no answer to that as we watch, in silence, as he flies away at top speed while being chased by a group of enemies who would have to into the other slaves encounter.

And we cannot do anything to save him now, beyond hoping that he stays safe, and that Lion does not manage to take another kind innocent soul with him even at the bitter end, before we manage to end him.

I clench my beak and we press on.
