Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 52
"So, cultivators are humans that are able to absorb the Qi energy that surrounds us and hold it inside their bodies as they form their core, consolidating it into Chi energy that can be used in a lot of interesting ways, to enchanting’s or boosting your own powers to manipulate the elements." Sounds a little different from magic mother talked about, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
"It that so? But what is it different from mages and wizards?" He does not seem to like the comparison, but answers anyway.
"Oh, is the same way than comparing a child painting to a masterpiece. They may use the energies to some degree, but their limits are very low. Cultivators, on the contrite, can surpass all barriers and achieve much, much more, beyond mortality itself."
Beyond mortality itself... even the lion could not fight against that.
"How can one become a cultivator?" I’m truly interested by now, but the other gives me a small laugh.
"Well, you have to have an elemental base for yourself for starters, and the capability of absorbing Qi energy."
"And how do you know that?"
"W-well, we can always test you for it later, but I brought you here to ask a few questions young curious mister..." I wanted to ask more before he turned the tables around but I guess it would be awkward to force more questions down his throat now, and even if I dreaded what he may inquire is not like I have a choice now since this man seems to be powerful enough to force his way if he wishes so.
That has to change, I hate being the rodent in this cat and mouse game.
"I brought some of my students down here to train as we came to this town for business for we received some very strange reports coming from the villagers around the area."
"Reports? Of what?"
"Well, for starters, this city wasn’t here a few weeks ago, and it seemly just popped into existence, out of thin air."
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked by the discovery.
"Are you certain of this? But how can a city be made in just a few days, that information must be wrong, for sure!" I say, and for a few moments he only drinks his tea, looking at me and thinking of something.
"Indeed, it is what we thought at first, but still here we are, in a place that is marked as a forest in the maps, and that every villager around swears that did not exist, from more than one place at that."
"But of course, it was not as surprised when we actually came here and confirmed our expectations and analyzed the situation closely." My mouth stops when I hear his words, but my mind freezes from what comes next: "For it is a ghost town after all..."
"A ghost town?" I ask, not familiar with the term but already dreading the answer just by the sound of it.
"Yes, that is the only plausible explanation to it. It is rare but it happens sometimes, just like ghosts are strong enough to change their surroundings if the Ying energy is strong enough, they may change a whole area like this too."
"But that is dangerous right?" Also I cannot help but feel a little bit skeptical that the city I have just passed by and enjoy a whole night of festivals in is, what, filled with ghosts? "You don’t mean to say that..."
"Yes, all this it’s actually fake, but the miasma of Ying is so strong that is hard to tell what is actually made of, though I was certain that you we’re one of them the moment I saw you, so that’s why I call you out."
Things were going way too fast for me to understand completely so I ask: "What is that Ying Energy you’re talking about? And how does it affect us?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Is another separation of the energy I talked to you about for there are two types: the Ying and Yang. However, beyond the fragile interpretation of them being the reflection of good and evil, these two energies are far more complex than that. They exist in all beings in different quantities and reflect their state of being, however some parts are predominant, such as the massive Ying energy that always comes out from ghosts since they are mostly made by pure resentment or just as strong feelings like such."
I understand part of it, some still sounds odd to my ears, but I can tell that a very important door is about to open right in front of me, so I grasp as much information as I can.
However, as much as I wanted to twist all the information possible out of this man something comes to mind that halts my curiosity.
